Hello Liam, planning to use this film on an slr with a built in light meter for the first time. Should I use its automatic settings to get shots like this? Or aperture priority and let the camera decide what ss to use?
Hey Muizz, you can use whatever settings you are comfortable with. I think I used manual mode, set the aperture around 5.6 and then adjusted the shutter until the light meter showed a correct exposure. My camera had a very good light meter so part of the results may depend on your light meters characteristics.
The Liam Gordon never hurts to change style once in a while, help keep those creative juices flowing. I really need to get myself another film camera.....
It was a little different each time. I think I was mostly around f5.6. The exposures were maybe between 1 and 8 seconds. The meter read a little different for each scene and I used whatever settings I had to to stop it from doing crazy long exposures.
@@rocketeer1012 no worries. It takes some time and practice to get used to. Cinestill might be a bit expensive to learn with. I found it a little easier to use a tripod at night.
I was on center weighted average. Not on purpose. I think I would have used evaluative if I’d paid attention. But hey, I guess it worked out so maybe I’ll keep using that setting :)
I agree, the hamburgers sign was my favorite. BTW, i shot film for more years than i care to remember, i'm not doing it again, i've been shooting digital for the past two or three years and i'm not going back. LOL Stay safe.
I'm definitely guilty of falling for the gimmicky, cliched look of cinestill, but it's no doubt a fun film to shoot with. Really like that restaurant shot too
We need to bring back photography. This cinestill look is shit. shoot slide film like fred or find some shit alex webb used to use Kodachrome true professional use slide film
Nice photography! I really like the bus stop, restaurant and gas station. The light fading into darkness is superb. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks very much! I appreciate you watching.
I just love the look of film photography. I used to want a Minolta X-700 back when I was curious about film photography.
It didn't feel like fun at the time but now I really want to go shoot more of it :)
I love shooting Cinestill 800 T.
Removing the remjet layer creates that awesome Halation effect!
Another great video Liam!🔥👍
Much appreciated. Yes, I saw somewhere this is modified Kodak film. I guess removing that layer is whats modified.
The Liam Gordon yep that is it!😀
Hi Liam, some great shots there, love them. Thanks for sharing keep up the good work.
Thank you kindly!
Love the house that looks red
Those are great shots, well done!
Thanks! I appreciate it.
The Gaz stations pictures are my favorites from the whole batch . they look just Magic
Chimay blue Thanks, mate. I’m looking forward to getting more of that film
I have Canon eos33 and m really struggling with the settings, I'll be so happy if u can sure ur night shooting settings , thank
I didn’t do much with the settings. I think I had the camera on “average” metering. Set up a tripod and used a very slow shutter speed.

Nice job, you got some really cool looking shots
Thanks! Not my usual style but while everything's quiet here it might be a fun project to work on :)

What f and shutter speed were you using Liam?

@@TheLiamGordon thank you Liam. Imma give that a try. 🫡🤝
You drive Saab - nice👍🏻
Yes, it’s getting old and developing some saab problems but it’s a pretty good car
What setting u use usually for cinestill 800t on night photography?
It depends on what the metering says for each scene. I think in this video I generally used f5.6 and each exposure was a few seconds.
@@TheLiamGordon thanks man! I didn't try cinestill 800t yet so i didnt know the metering. Plus i really new in photography 😂

Love that shot at 8.35, very 'america'. Nice one 👌🏻
Thanks, Lee 👍
So no flash needed?
No flash, just a tripod and a longer exposure.
Much tweaking post? Clean crisp images. Really nice
None at all. I was pleasantly surprised at how well they came out. Used Indy Photo Lab for develop and scan.
Liammmmmmmm....hi from down under mate.
It’s a fantastic vid
Glad you enjoyed it, mate! I appreciate you watching from down under :)
You used a light meter?
Just the one built into the camera :)
The Liam Gordon the exposures are really nice. I’m guessing spot metering? I’m just been using evaluative metering but I’m yet to develop my rolls.

Imagine a world where there lived a film photographer who didn't use that same chill wave/chill hop music on their videos...just imagine it
Be the change you want to see in the world 🙌
Very nice man! Very well done. I'm a subs now!
José Abarca Thank you. I appreciate the sub :)
I really thought you where going to get mugged or stopped by the cops. Some great shots.
Haha, its not that sketchy... I don't think anyways :P

Yeah I'm just adding a bit of film in for fun. I don't ever see myself shooting film only.
I'm definitely guilty of falling for the gimmicky, cliched look of cinestill, but it's no doubt a fun film to shoot with. Really like that restaurant shot too
As much as I complained about shooting in this video, I'm really eager to do it again :)
