It will be interesting to see if she can win her 3rd US nationals in January at the age of 16. I think Alysa might need to do that to make the Olympic team. I'm glad she got that 3rd spot for the USA but all 3 spots are pretty much up for grabs.
@@rsb512 I would have to disagree. She’s a lock at this point. According to the US selection criterion for the Olympics, she’s the only US lady in the 2nd group (Karen only one in 3rd). She also has the highest scoring potential considering her scores in the first two challenger events (both of which she won). Then comparing her to the others, Karen has consistency and technical issues, Mariah is a mess, Bradie is injured and only doing doubles atm, and Amber is still having a hard time coping under pressure.
To people in the comments, Elizaveta is competing with 15, 16 and 17year olds and is learning quads in her 20s. Personally, I think she’s a fighter. Landing clean 3As is also a big deal. I hope she adds at least one quad into her program and proves people wrong.
I’m with you100 percent. She will be 25 come the Olympics. I know Navka won at 34 years of age but that was ice dancing. I’ve seen the Empress do at least one quad in training and she’s solid. Her 3A’s are impressive. I remember watching her at 17 l think it was, when she was the first woman to land one in the competition.Go Liza🤞🤞🙏🏼⛸🥇

I feel like Kostornia whole program is determined by if she can land the first axel. If she lands that triple axel then rest of her program looks more confident. If she messes up you can see her confident slips a bit. Also when it comes to Kamila I don’t know if that world record is really deserved. Yes she’s a talented skater, and she landed three quads but she did fall in both programs. I just don’t know about that. I can’t wait for the Grand Prix season to start honestly! We will get more of definitive idea on how everyone is preforming and more of an idea on how the Olympics will look like. Also when it comes to the American team don’t forget about Alysa Liu. She’s won three gold medals already so far! I wouldn’t count her out at all!
Kamila WR of her FP is not deserved IMO. Yrs she has 3 quads but if you check the protocol the GOEs are crazy high. I'd say only the spins are deserved of that high GOE. Just check on the men side that's doing 3 quads and see the TES. Example Yuma layout in the world 2021. He did 3 quads, 2 trixels, and more difficult 3-3 and the TES is just not comparable with Kamila. It's clear the push that she received in this Olympic season.
Russian Fed not kidding around when their own judge ranked Kosto lower than than Loena. Girl needs to ditch her two sleepy programs, get something better pronto, and play fake-nice to get into their good graces again. US ladies aren't individual contenders, true, but at least 2 of them are gonna fight for the chance to get that Team medal (probably Alyssa chosen, and fight between Bradie, and Karen as who is the other team girl). Liza proving the haters wrong again. Cheering for the chaos to happen if she does manage displaces the 3rd Eteri girl to get on the Olympic team (at this point Sasha and Kamila are near locks).
@@neskipom I think it is because even if she doesn’t do a clean fs or short she can still manage to outscore most because of her overwhelming tech scores. If she does do a completely clean short and free with 5 quads in the free and 3A in the short because of the huge technical score she can outscore kamila Just like we saw at worlds 2021 ( although I think she was very over-scored ) she missed the combination in the short, had 2 falls in the free and 2 under-rotations but still managed to be 3rd. I don’t think something that disastrous will happen again so I think she’s a locks

I don't know who designed that costume for Kosto, but girl needs a friend asap. That costume in the FS looked so strange. Team T is really giving her scraps.
I don't think it looks strange. It looked quite nice. It is good that she or any skater gets to try different styles, colors, etc. With computer aided design, it is easy to "foresee" the outcome of which the costume would facilitate. Her FS costume is definitely not "sharp" or sassy. However, it is not overdone in any way. Black (in SP) works well for almost all people...unless if they look tire and have no make-up on and their skin color is on the lighter side. Blond girls with fair skin actually look better wearing black, even though the color is in sharp contrast, and we think of funeral attendees. And black on anyone looks more sophisticated, and serious/dignified/professional...who would not want that. I think Kostornaia can carry off a light pink...but most people may 🤣. Has she ever worn a light pink? Valieva won't carry light pink as well, she'll look too "baby". Elizaveta Tut. won't carry the color well either, she'll look like she is trying to look "baby". But if she tries, she may be able to carry it off with some attitude that she will invent. Anna S. may do okay in light pink because we will associate the look with ballet/ballerina, because she is more ballerina than figure skater in my opinion. Even Hanyu once wore a light pink (or peach.) It didn't affect his skating. By the way, I don't particularly like the term "costume", unless if the program has a theme that requires a costume (sailor moon, the nutcracker soldier, etc.) Otherwise, ensemble would be a better term to include garment, accessories on garment or on skater, and hairstyle that is harmonious with (or not be disruptive/distracting to) the program/music.
I dont think its personal, but i dont like them either... the black and purple one is not bold and mature as the song needs it to be (look at Maiia's costume, it fits perfectly to the song and Blues themed program). The FP costume is a mess imo 😅🤷🏼♀️ if we look at Zhenya's Olympic costume, the blue one, it would fit the music much better. Hopefully, they'll change it throughout the season

Repitition just really works for Kosto. I think with every performance she‘ll get more confident and win back her spark. With the Team I just really have the feeling that their contenders for the third spot are Anna, Kosto and Maiia. If they get their choosing it will be Anna but with her injury it feels like she is losing valuable time to work against the expiration date. So I feel like its Kostos spot to lose. The Team may not like her but they know that her showmanship works. HOWEVER, the most realistic choice seems Story be The empress.
Why do people call it expiration date? Dont we all know that ladies skaters have though times in puberty at age 17-20ish? Even skaters like Tuktik, Mao, and Kostner also took time off (or had messy results) during that age range. Imho Its so rude to call someones expired. The probs in Russia is because once they have messy season, they become no longer competitive to the younger girls bc Russia has tons of talented girls there. And Russia has a big skating business that allow the older skaters to do shows, modelling, etc to gain money instead of being in a stressful competitive environment. Its different with other countries even USA where skaters like Karen and Mariah are still relevant even when they often mess up the jumps with underrotations. Its also a puberty factor, but theyre still relevant bc USA dont have so much competitors as Russia. Puberty makes jumps harder but it doesnt make them expired. If Anna lose her quads and is doing only-triples, why is it suddenly an expiration when ladies from other countries are doing only-triples too?
@@sfs6501 see that's the problem with current women skating (more pronounce in Russia). It's normal that you lose consistency when you're growing up. Like the case of Kostner and Mao. They need to relearn the jumps with their new height and weight and get them consistent. Problem is the younger ones keep coming up with quads and trixels and they don't necessarily have the sustainable technique like Liza has. Liza managed to get back her 3A (and even more consistent then she was in 2015) again because she has solid foundation. Not sure about many of this jumping beans, I think they're taught quads when their triples are still squirly at best. It's easy to lose motivation if you know if you try your best and get back your triples you still cannot compete with the new generation, regardless of their quality of skating and jumps as long as they can rotate. IMO men skating is more sustainable, typically they move up to senior after they're 18 y.o. and they have long enough time be comfortable with their post puberty bodies. IMO ISU need to address the age limit, otherwise you'll have 1-2 seasons champions (like disposable cups as Raf said).
There are 3 spots? Then I would like to see Trusova and Kostornaia. They offset or complement each other well. I feel like Trusova can handle the difficult stuff well and Kostornaia can handle the stuff that is difficult to imitate by another skater. Third spot??

Idk that I'm surprised about Tuktamysheva placing higher than Kostornaia. I think Aliona will grow in confidence and improve as the season goes on, and it was great to see her with a little bit of that fire during her short. Liza is a veteran and an underdog and she has the goods to kill it with both technique and performance. And now we got Budapest this week and Skate America next week and Skate Canada the week after 😬 so hyped for everything to come!
the olympic team is between Kamila Valieva ( who is gonna win gold for sure) Scherbakova and Kostornaia. Even though all the Eteri girls deserve to go to the Olympic😂

I think the free program they put together for Kosto is strategically designed to bring her down. She shines the most when there´s a character, a sassiness to the music, a story to tell, and we cant find that here. It is also a reminder of her last season, bc its freaking Vivaldi again, and it sucks! so yeah, that is not the program for her. She could do it, but i just hope that somehow she finds a spin to it (she will most likely find confort in repetition tho) or that they change a part of the music, or whatever. Its a lovely but so overused piece (truly, dont at me bc of Vivaldi, i love the dude, but he needs some rest) Kosto is unique, you can not give her a characterless routine like thisssss, im watching you Eteri, we are not dumb, we still feel the hate, woman!
I totally agree with you, and that was my 1st thought as soon as I saw this programme. It looks like zero effort went into it. Eteri doesn't want her to be picked, and no-one can change my mind on that 🤷🏼♀️
Nah, if anything, it's because fans are always going on about how Angel and Adios Nonino are her best programs. Four Seasons is an attempt to recapture that classicness but there's clearly still some work to do on the choreo.
I think you should do a version 2 of your « begginer’s guide to team tutberize » before the olympics. It would be great for people who want to watch figure skating during the olympics but haven’t caught up on anything before that.
I feel sorry actually for all the people who will be watching the skating and know nothing of all the drama behind the scenes. Particularly over the past 12 months. An update would be 👍🏻🇦🇺
The Empress will fight until her last breath to get that place at Oly's! You can see it. I love her 💖. Jason's Sinner Man is one of the best SP's of all time, and as someone who's spent 42 yrs in figure skating, that's a LOT coming from me! 😍 My friends agree btw (also 40+ yrs experience). I loved the French dancers. Both programmes! They are head and shoulders better than anyone in the world, regardless of the judges pretending the Russians are anywhere near them. Love their programmes for this year. Btw, they never decorate their costumes, so don't expect them to (if they do I'll be shocked). I was excited for the dance as my friend Lewis Gibson took 3rd with his partner Lilah Fear, and I was SO proud of them! Great start to the season. They just get better year on year, and they've only skated together for a few short years, so they've made a really fast rise through the ranks. Lewis was a mens senior singles skater just a few years ago, so he's only been dancing for about 5 years or thereabouts! 🇬🇧💖
I hate to see people saying that Krustalny hates Aliona. It’s not true. If it was true then they would hate Trusova too and would give her “bad programs” but she got very good programs so it’s not the case. The problem with Aliona is something else than music, because Aliona can sell whatever on the ice with her charisma and ss. It’s something else and Daniil said Aliona has a barrier in her head. He also called her one of the most talented skaters ever, but there is just something in her head not allowing her to go forward. We don’t know what is happening in Aliona’s private life and why does she have such barrier in her head even if literally everyone agrees that she has the ability to be the best skater in ladies field. The story about Daniil taking a “revenge” on Aliona with this programs is a circus story. He doesn’t have any reason to do that.
I don't think its because she left, but a lot happened when she left. This is no hate to aliona but many people have said that she had an attitude ( im not saying she does this is what has been said ), and she knew she was leaving to plushenko but didn't say anything until after her new programs were done by team tutberidze. Also she said danny g has awful choreography and that if eteri wants to say something she should say it to her face. Trusova however transferred in the transfer period and never bad mouthed or said anything about the coaches once she left so even though the both left and come back it would be understandable that they might have something agaisnt kostornia. This has also been said numerous times that RusFed told the russian judge to put her behind Hendrix and they did, you can even check the score sheets. So it does not really look like a good situation. Russia always fights for their ladies but with kostornia now their own judge from their own country is putting her bellow a skater from another country. I doubt the coaches are taking "Revenge" but its obvious they don't like her.

It’s not that judge or rusfed have something against Kostornaya it is just that at Finlandia in her free she was not good like she can be. She deserved to be below Hendrix. It’s not that they don’t like her it’s more like they have 6 other girls who actually fight for the olympic spot even if they’re not talented like Kostornaya. They can not give their full attention to Aliona, because Aliona herself admitted she is not disciplined enough and she always needs someone to push her to do more. Imagine RUSFED has Kamila Valieva who is now a walking sniper for other ladies, Alexandra Trusova who risks everything to be on the podium (going from 12th to 3rd place), Anna Shcherbakova who proved herself everytime is mentally very strong. Liza Tuktik who won silver medal at worlds and keeps fighting and showing will. Maya for now has 2 quads… What do they have to do with Aliona who lost her only ultra c element, skates depending on her mood, can’t memorize her choreo fully.. this is not a hate against Aliona, but a sad reality that she is doing all the things to herself and not rusfed, not Eteri.

However from what I heard, and this is just what I heard not what I fully believe or am marking my words agaisnt, but I heard that her going to finlandia trophy was to teach her a lesson and even prior to the competition the judge was told to place her bellow Liona Hendrix even if she did well or not to show her that they wont put up with everything thats going on. I feel like she is very stuck right now and if I had to pick the olympic team now she would not be on it. I really think at this competition in the fs if she skated the way she did, a clean rika or wakaba could have beaten her. What do you think?

About Kamila: i personally liked the costume waayy better than the full black one, i feel like its more in tune with the music. I, personally, dont like the program per se, i feel like its su-per rushed, there's A LOT going on 😅 the short program is, as you said, kinda forgettable... About Liza, i just adore her!! Her FS is super entertaining and the SP is also great. Among the Eteri girls and Liza, in Russia, her 3A is the most stable, as of now and shes not here to play, shes going for it. Aliona improved her interpretation a lot, compared to test skates. with repetition, i believe shell improve even more. I loved the FS song, however, the dress just doesnt do it... I think she'll get her 3A truly back, but we'll just have to wait and see...
The only bolero that I liked was Carolina's. And to think that Kamila probably will win next year with bolero 😭 She's a great skater but that bolero isn't working.

Her music for last season I think? She used an orientalist/Asian music. The music was Japanese and yet she wrote Chinese words on her dress which was uh kind of strange lol, she probably didn’t do enough research to distinguish the two because Chinese and Japanese are so different and when someone wants to skate to oriental music they really should do some research on the language written on her dress at the very least, if it’s matching the language in their song. So Japanese fans were quite offended. I think it was also affected that Hanyu fans were upset because he was criticized by a lot of famous skating figures and western media for using Japanese music, even when he’s Japanese himself, yet Liza wasn’t. Either way people reach and hate a lot these days due to the cancel culture but there is some truth in the Liza criticism. Still an amazing skater anyway, and I don’t think it’s that huge an issue to hate and bash on her. Maybe educate her instead?

Nationals or Europeans , I don’t remember ….I like Tut, don’t get me wrong , but she is no where near Aliona in presentation…. Seems like the judges were told where to place them … something isn’t right
Only Liza's technical components are way higher. She had 3 amazingly successful 3A and all her jumps were great except for a 3Lo and her choreo both on the short and the long are amazing. If aliona got ahead it would be a huge injustice
I've been binging your videos after all The the doping drama (You are on of the few people who covers the story fairly ie not calling Kamila a dirty rotten cheater who is only good because of drugs) and it is scary how you kinda foreshadowed the events in this video.
You are by far my favourite figure skating commentator and your videos are hilarious, nicely edited and have that snarky, fun excitement that we all feel when we watch figure skating. I know you don’t know all of the history like some of the other skating channels but you do know lots and have the same absolute love of the art, the athleticism and the drama. And i can’t tell you how much I live for it.
I think Kostornaia going right after Valieva spooked her. She had to both see and hear her record broken and go right out on the ice! I think she meant her words about upping her work ethic. I don’t think Daniil is mean. I think they would not even give her the time of day if they were disinterested, but they also know that what they are seeing is not her best. They know she’s talented,. They know she’s capable. It’s frustrating watching talent not be fully invested. I say this as definitely a bit of a Kosto-bot. Haha.
She is the "skater" skater. I mean if you love skating with difficult jump layout then you'll love her. I am fully in the Kostobot train and I'll be disappointed if she is not going to the Olympic because she is that talented.
The point on talent not having the same work ethic really reminds me of Marin Honda. Really am rooting for kosto but it almost feels like rusfed right now wants her to start actually upping her game and have less of the drama. They are playing hard ball with her and want her to suck it up and work. I really hope she does and comes back stronger and becomes a real contender for the olympics.

I read somewhere that programs for Aliona were actually selected by herself this season... Recall how this was her issue that she was not allowed to select the music. So may be that's why they are boring as before when the programs were selected by Eteri/Glekh they were cool and full of character and charisma. Not to bring down Vivaldi, but I think it's not good for Aliona, she's full of character herself and the music should reflect that.
I agree. She might not have liked them, but they picked winners for her for sure and she sold them much more than the ones she has now. Maybe the ones she picked are a bit too personal. Sometimes, the needed character is a bit too close to home to access.

I think they want her to “pay” for the drama she caused, leaving for plush, the instagram and rozanov drama. Eteri’s camp could have chosen a better part even for four seasons, they didn’t. They know that she isn’t fully on board with them and quite honestly I think they want to punish her for not bending to them like the other girls. But truth is kosto is too stubborn for that and this teenage pride needs to be matched with work ethic and drive…I don’t see as much of that rn when compared to when she was a junior
Can someone tell me the story behind the Kostornaia dislikes? My assumption is that she is "brattier" or more disagreeable than the other skaters. Is there anything else? Other than she may be less easy to work with, however not difficult to work with. She may be older than her age...compared with other skaters, but have not yet caught up in maturity. Her expression in her older self may or may not be valid, or appropriate. But the dissatisfaction with those expressions may also be not valid, or may be overly subjective. In all honesty, male skaters are easier to work with. 😂🤣😂 I am serious.

Nobody likes seeing people get injured but you don’t mess with a good work partner and long term friendship. I think he got too prideful about how he could do it on his own with anybody else (yes Vanessa is a strong skater) but it isn’t about just that, it’s about how the partnership works and he really thought he was above it, guess not.
Anna isn’t doing her quads in competition yet, and no one knows if she can get them consistent yet. and depends if trusova can get her nerves in check. depends if kamila’s technique can be sustained until the Olympics. Tuktik is possibly gonna give the Eteri girls a run for their money. Liza has been doing 3A since 2015, and she has years of international senior experience, giving her an edge in the nerves game. If Kostornaia either changes her long, solidifies her 3A, or just sells tf out of the four seasons program, she could also be a contender.

@@Ardit-kq4bt you never know what is gonna happen before and during the Olympics. Kamila’s base jump technique is very dangerous, and she’s making them quads and 3A, making them extra dangerous. That combined with the immense pressure to win that people like you put her under can end up being her downfall. Anna hasn’t shown us yet that she got her quads back, but it’s still the beginning of the season. I know Anna won worlds without quads, but so many of the top ladies are doing ultra-C elements and are out for blood this Olympic season. There are so many possibilities.
For US ladies: I have high hope for Alysa Liu, so far her short program is the only one I can call '"a moment" this season. She matured quite a lot in recent years, I hope she can go to Beijing.
America's best hope is Alysa Liu who has quads and a triple axel. Karen Chen nice skater but there's very little difficulty compared to the other skaters out there. The same goes for Bell and Tennell. Amber was a disappointment in Finland she needs to pick it up. The scary thing is how unhappy Aliona seems. Kosto depression is possible. The pressure on her is massive because she knows if she's not on she has no chance for the podium at rusnats. But she is the most beautiful skater in the world when she's on. Eteri will have a couple of the girls leave her after the Olympic season.. This is Liza's 3rd chance at an Olympic team. She blew the first two chances. In 2018 she got beat out by Sotskova. I mean really?
The problem is that Alysa Liu never had a quad, she had horrible technique where she would essentially do up 1.25 rotations on the ice so her "quad lutz" was actually an underrotated triple loop. Now that she's grown she can't do the fake quad anymore, and her speed has barely improved. She was always extremely slow on the ice and appears to be very slow now. She will get demolished in a real international competition.

Loena looked lil bit slow to me, sometimes her hands were sloppy, but overall her performance was good. I think Karen deserved 3rd, but her jumping content is disappointing

budapest trophy is currently on-going. ladies sp will be on saturday and fp on sunday (moscow standard time). headlining will be russian & world champion, anna shcherbakova.
Even if quadster Veronica zilina (spelling?) pulls out of the final in December, there will still be 2 tutberitze girls and 2 plushenko girls. Next in line for the junior final is another plushenko girl.🙂

I also thought Tuktamysheva had quads too?? We’ve seen her land it multiple times in practice. Not sure why she doesn’t try them in competition though?
She is "older" skater, so I guess she has to conserve her body. She didn't do 3-3 as well in the FP, maybe she thought she didn't need it. I bet she will be going all out in the Rus Nats, but she will need to do her 2 trixels and at least 1 quad and 3-3 to even compete for that last spot.
Maybe I'm completely on the wrong track with this, but I think Jason's FS costume might be a reference to the jews' uniforms they had to wear in the concentration camps (since he skates to Schindler's list)? Those where grey and white striped clothes, which the costume kinda reminds me of, and the yellowish-gold spot on Jason's chest could be a nod towards the yellow stars the jews had to wear back then. Of course, since it's a costume, it's more symbolic than direct (I think actual stripes and stars could've been offensive), but if it IS about that, then it's a very clever design!
Sounds like Keegan Messing needs to work on recovery between the short and the long. It's still early in the season but it's not like it's his first senior season.
I also hated Kamila's dress so you're not alone! There is definitely a big disconnection between Kostornaia's elements and the music in her free program. I'm a huge fan of Vivaldi, but not of that program!
She is tall too, well for skater standard. When she stood in the middle between Aliona and Liza I was quite shocked. I thought she has weird body ratio, like very long legs but short waist
Im still very new to ice skating…. Like baby level, I know pretty much nothing. From my amateur eye: 1. Liza is just a goddess, honestly I could watch her skate all day. And I’m 100% rooting for her to get to the olympics. 2. Aliona is fabulous and I’m rooting for her to! I just hope her confidence continues to grow. 3. Kamila - wow, I felt like a proud mom watching her on her senior debut. However when it comes to Bolero don’t get me wrong I love her routine - But when your from the UK like me - home of Torvil and Dean, and their famous Bolero from the 1984 olympics… it’s so hard to think about anything else when hearing that music 😂

aliona - i think its to early to think shes out of the game and that she has no hope. the season has barely started. so no kosto depression yet for me personally. also i hope she gets new costumes. kamila - im a lil worried they scored her FP to high, its really early in the season. shes obviously going to get better as the season goes on [like everyone does] so it leaves me wondering how high her scores will get. i loved her FP costume, hated the SP. liza - i do love her but she was overscored in the PCS. also both her costumes are so pretty USA ladies - lets not forget alysa. also if amber can actually land the 3A in comps and not just videos she could make it too.
Rumor has it that Bradie T has a back injury. I'm thinking the contenders for U.S. ladies at Olympics are Karen, Bradie, Alyssa and Mariah. As to who is chosen, not sure at all, but so far I agree that Karen seems like a definite for spot 1. Bradie would be a good pick for consistency (if injury-free) and Alyssa for ultra-C elements. My personal favorite of U.S. ladies is Mariah Bell for her interpretation and lyricism though (Hallelujah had my heart!)
Just watched Budapest wrap up! Took everyone’s scores in international competitions so far and put them in order from highest to lowest this season. 1) Kamila, 2) Liza, 3) Maia, 4) Anna, 5) Aliona, 6) Sasha! I know some will argue about Sasha, but the scores are what they are until they compete again and get something higher! Sasha has never been a matter of if she can, but whether she can in competition. My takeaway? I cannot stress about who goes to the Olympics because it’s honestly unpredictable. Cannot wait for RusNats!
Oh and the Jason costume.... it is somber gray and black to represent the horror and sadness of the situation. The black lines represent the barbed wire and entrapment of people in the ghettos and concentration camps, and the wave red and orange represents the scars and pain of those who suffered. It is also right over his heart, meaning both physical and emotional scarring and pain. In the actual video, I think the waves are over his heart, which gives it more personal meaning.
Am I the only one who likes Kamila's SP? The elements are great, especially if she lands the 3A, the choreography is pleasing and the music is beautiful. I agree the dress needs to change though.

According to yesterday news Tutberidze team decided to change both of Aliona's programs - now in short she will skate to New York, New York by Frank Sinatra, and free program to lovely by Bille Eilish (suppose that it is that free program from last season, which she didnt skate because was with Plushenko team). And most likely she will already skate them on Skate Canada!!
I swear, Kosternaia is being sabotaged by Dani G, it is his revenge for her (rightfully) saying his choreo is bad. He even bad mouthed her in the press, how unprofessional and childish of him. She has got the wort choreo out of the bunch. And her fed cleary dropped her as well. Nonetheless, I'm still rooting for my girl, she HAS to make it to the Olympics. Also bring back "You should see me in a crown" because she sold that! Tuktamysheva getting overscored in PCS in ... something. I don't enjoy her skating. Her jump technique is great but the skating skills are not. She knows how to handle an audience tho, curious if she has a big fanbase in China. My favoutite programms are Karen Chen's SP, her skating is just gorgeous. Loena Hendrix's SP was so fun and enjoyable, she is shaping out to be one of my new favourites.
Liza did not come to play..... I am REALLY curious what is going on with Anna. They have been fairly quiet, so I am wondering if things are not going so well. Gun to my head if I had to select the ladies this very moment for the Oly team, I would say Kami, Sasha and Liza. US ladies.... Yeesh, I don't know about Jason, He's a really great performer, but his technique for the lutz especially is lackluster. As for Kolyada, he's such a talented skater, I can't understand why he isn't more successful in his programs it seems that he can never manage to capture that gold medal. Kamila shows promise, but I feel like her performance is overrated, I think she would benefit from a coach change, (at least in terms of performance/technical value, but Eteri girls seem to come out on top regardless of performance, sorry), I'm worried that if her jump technique does not improve she'll end up with a career riddled with serious injuries, like Kosternaia and Trusova, especially since she's going for so many. Here's hoping Aliona and Sasha will make a comeback in the Grand Prix Series, I want to see my girls at the olympics!
Just because usa figure skaters aren't shrouded in drama doesn't take away from their talent and the enjoyment of their performances. Karen Chen is a lovely skater, just because she doesn't have a chance at medaling and doesn't have a toxic coach doesn't make her boring 🙄
Kamila's good but her components are insane. Even if Sasha jumps 5 quads it might not be enough. And I would understand if Kami had such a score closer to the Olympics (like it was with Alina), but she starts with 72! Insane

Paola, do you know why in this video there re no eng subtitles, but only dutch (but its not real dutch its like translator decides that your english is dutch and try to subtitle english words as dutch)? In ur previous videos there re eng subtitles. Those re auto subtitles, but it helped me a lot to understand everything more clear. I'm russian and ur channel is a diamond in figure skating youtube, we have no such channels in russian, so I always cant wait to see yours.
I think Kostor has nothing to lose here. I'm sure she somehow know she might not get into the Olympics Team. At this point, I think she should just do her best and enjoy herself. I'm sure with lesser pressure from herself to herself she will skate better. All these drama people around her trying to fuel is pointless actually like move on, you accepted her back so now do the job :")
But are they really being dramatic or are people online spreading rumors and blowing things out of proportion? They accepted her back. They would not waste their own time on her if they hadn’t truly done it. They have a massive amount of ladies at the top in seniors and juniors and also have some other disciplines to manage and worry about. Far too busy for half of the drama ‘fans’ like to fabricate and exaggerate. If programs are suffering, I think it’s that they don’t have time to chase after folks to make sure they follow through on every detail.

There are 7 skaters all from the same country that could do well at the Olympics and only 3 spots. This is regardless of quads or 3A because other countries’ ladies are not consistent in that area either. Honestly, I might be more excited for Grand Prix finals and Russian Nationals than anything else because it could go any kind of way depending on who skates how!
Kostornaia, if she did not like the music in the long program, she sure fooled me. It was beautifully done, though imperfect. Not too many would be able to skate and match this music to make the program beautiful and mesmerizing. No sassyness necessary, it won't match this music anyway.
i think she chose the music for both of her programs? idk why people kept on bullying her coaches where they already gave her opportunity to choose especially that she left team tut because she did not have freedom on such things. and yes, the choreography is lackluster but so is everyone else. it's already on the skaters' part to sell the program well. she should have not went back to eteri, aop will probably give her better programs.
Liza is a an amazing skater, she is an artist ! BUT like you said she is always pushing herself and I’m scared of that :/ you can not live under this kind of pressure for one more year ? At some point she will break mentally or physically (I hope not!)
I hope this is just me being paranoid and reading way much into things but Im actually worried about eteri girls not being consistant. Like I know practically the entire russian team is incosistant at this point except for Elizaveta, but Im suuuper worried for the ladies in particular considering in the past these consistancy issues turned into bigger problems with every leading eteri girl. Again, I hope this is just me being paranoid, that the girls are just getting used to competition again, but Im actually scared for them. Whether its something physical or mental, Im very worried
The thing is, it’s basically impossible for skaters skating tons of quads and 3As to be consistent. Alina and Zhenya were, but they weren’t jumping hundreds of Ultra-C jumps. Hell even the men jumping quads are inconsistent most of the time (Nathan is the only exception. He’s a huge outlier and very consistent). I don’t see how the girls will become consistent because even after jumping quads for so long, men are still inconsistent. Quads are very high risk, high reward, they are so high risk that it’s basically impossible to be inconsistent. Plus the psychological issues-if they fall on one quad, it might completely destroy their motivation and confidence performing the program like we see with Sasha.
@@Bella-po8vh yes i agree, i think we as the audiance arent asking for the impossible here, ofcourse theyre gonna fall and trip. however i think we can all agree the russian federation and coaches dont think like this. So it becomes this vicious cycle of Skater Falls - Stresses - Coaching Get Tough - Skater Suffers Physically and Mentaly - Skater Falls and so on. I think the issue isnt that theyre inconsistent with the jumps itself but like... the situation around the jumps? Does that make sense? The pressure put on these girls is usually the reason why it goes all down hill even if theyre incredibly talented.

I think she just recently showed consistency again after her injury and growth spurt. People weren't sure if she could continue to deliver quads or a 3A after she hit puberty but she got her 3A back, which is good enough to be a serious contender given her other skills.
The four seasons is a classic composition more suited for a skater like Oksana Baiul. It did not fit Kostornaya's capricious style and jazzy swag. I believe that Tutberidze is a bit more invested in helping Valieva capture gold at the 2022 Olympics. As for Tuktamysheva, I really wish that she could retire already. I've been watching her for years and continually see her performing the same, redundant routines!
I agree a lot with what you say. The russians no longer look so invincible. Poorly packaged. Danny G's programs are getting tired and they have ugly costumes which don't help. Kamila's fs outfit is horrible. Those leggings just add clunkiness. Liza T you go girl You fight. You never give up. It is amazing despite concerns about the Russian skaters consistency, poor programs, poor outfits, lacking consistency, worry about growth the still bring it.
Hi guys sorry for the late upload. But here it finally is! Yes i forgot about Alyssa when talking about the senior USA ladies because to me she is in her own level separate from the other senior ladies. And because in my head she is still a baby lol
It will be interesting to see if she can win her 3rd US nationals in January at the age of 16. I think Alysa might need to do that to make the Olympic team. I'm glad she got that 3rd spot for the USA but all 3 spots are pretty much up for grabs.
@@rsb512 I would have to disagree. She’s a lock at this point. According to the US selection criterion for the Olympics, she’s the only US lady in the 2nd group (Karen only one in 3rd). She also has the highest scoring potential considering her scores in the first two challenger events (both of which she won). Then comparing her to the others, Karen has consistency and technical issues, Mariah is a mess, Bradie is injured and only doing doubles atm, and Amber is still having a hard time coping under pressure.

To people in the comments, Elizaveta is competing with 15, 16 and 17year olds and is learning quads in her 20s. Personally, I think she’s a fighter. Landing clean 3As is also a big deal. I hope she adds at least one quad into her program and proves people wrong.

I feel like Kostornia whole program is determined by if she can land the first axel. If she lands that triple axel then rest of her program looks more confident. If she messes up you can see her confident slips a bit. Also when it comes to Kamila I don’t know if that world record is really deserved. Yes she’s a talented skater, and she landed three quads but she did fall in both programs. I just don’t know about that. I can’t wait for the Grand Prix season to start honestly! We will get more of definitive idea on how everyone is preforming and more of an idea on how the Olympics will look like.
Also when it comes to the American team don’t forget about Alysa Liu. She’s won three gold medals already so far! I wouldn’t count her out at all!

Kamila WR of her FP is not deserved IMO. Yrs she has 3 quads but if you check the protocol the GOEs are crazy high. I'd say only the spins are deserved of that high GOE. Just check on the men side that's doing 3 quads and see the TES. Example Yuma layout in the world 2021. He did 3 quads, 2 trixels, and more difficult 3-3 and the TES is just not comparable with Kamila. It's clear the push that she received in this Olympic season.

Russian judge scored Kosto much higher than Loena overall. In FS all of the judges ranked Kosto lower than Loena. It has nothing to do with Rusfed.

If she does do a completely clean short and free with 5 quads in the free and 3A in the short because of the huge technical score she can outscore kamila
Just like we saw at worlds 2021 ( although I think she was very over-scored ) she missed the combination in the short, had 2 falls in the free and 2 under-rotations but still managed to be 3rd. I don’t think something that disastrous will happen again so I think she’s a locks

I don't think it looks strange. It looked quite nice. It is good that she or any skater gets to try different styles, colors, etc. With computer aided design, it is easy to "foresee" the outcome of which the costume would facilitate. Her FS costume is definitely not "sharp" or sassy. However, it is not overdone in any way. Black (in SP) works well for almost all people...unless if they look tire and have no make-up on and their skin color is on the lighter side. Blond girls with fair skin actually look better wearing black, even though the color is in sharp contrast, and we think of funeral attendees. And black on anyone looks more sophisticated, and serious/dignified/professional...who would not want that.
I think Kostornaia can carry off a light pink...but most people may 🤣. Has she ever worn a light pink? Valieva won't carry light pink as well, she'll look too "baby". Elizaveta Tut. won't carry the color well either, she'll look like she is trying to look "baby". But if she tries, she may be able to carry it off with some attitude that she will invent. Anna S. may do okay in light pink because we will associate the look with ballet/ballerina, because she is more ballerina than figure skater in my opinion. Even Hanyu once wore a light pink (or peach.) It didn't affect his skating.
By the way, I don't particularly like the term "costume", unless if the program has a theme that requires a costume (sailor moon, the nutcracker soldier, etc.) Otherwise, ensemble would be a better term to include garment, accessories on garment or on skater, and hairstyle that is harmonious with (or not be disruptive/distracting to) the program/music.
I dont think its personal, but i dont like them either... the black and purple one is not bold and mature as the song needs it to be (look at Maiia's costume, it fits perfectly to the song and Blues themed program). The FP costume is a mess imo 😅🤷🏼♀️ if we look at Zhenya's Olympic costume, the blue one, it would fit the music much better. Hopefully, they'll change it throughout the season

Repitition just really works for Kosto. I think with every performance she‘ll get more confident and win back her spark. With the Team I just really have the feeling that their contenders for the third spot are Anna, Kosto and Maiia. If they get their choosing it will be Anna but with her injury it feels like she is losing valuable time to work against the expiration date. So I feel like its Kostos spot to lose. The Team may not like her but they know that her showmanship works. HOWEVER, the most realistic choice seems Story be The empress.
Why do people call it expiration date? Dont we all know that ladies skaters have though times in puberty at age 17-20ish? Even skaters like Tuktik, Mao, and Kostner also took time off (or had messy results) during that age range. Imho Its so rude to call someones expired. The probs in Russia is because once they have messy season, they become no longer competitive to the younger girls bc Russia has tons of talented girls there. And Russia has a big skating business that allow the older skaters to do shows, modelling, etc to gain money instead of being in a stressful competitive environment. Its different with other countries even USA where skaters like Karen and Mariah are still relevant even when they often mess up the jumps with underrotations. Its also a puberty factor, but theyre still relevant bc USA dont have so much competitors as Russia. Puberty makes jumps harder but it doesnt make them expired. If Anna lose her quads and is doing only-triples, why is it suddenly an expiration when ladies from other countries are doing only-triples too?
@@sfs6501 see that's the problem with current women skating (more pronounce in Russia). It's normal that you lose consistency when you're growing up. Like the case of Kostner and Mao. They need to relearn the jumps with their new height and weight and get them consistent. Problem is the younger ones keep coming up with quads and trixels and they don't necessarily have the sustainable technique like Liza has. Liza managed to get back her 3A (and even more consistent then she was in 2015) again because she has solid foundation. Not sure about many of this jumping beans, I think they're taught quads when their triples are still squirly at best. It's easy to lose motivation if you know if you try your best and get back your triples you still cannot compete with the new generation, regardless of their quality of skating and jumps as long as they can rotate.
IMO men skating is more sustainable, typically they move up to senior after they're 18 y.o. and they have long enough time be comfortable with their post puberty bodies. IMO ISU need to address the age limit, otherwise you'll have 1-2 seasons champions (like disposable cups as Raf said).

Idk that I'm surprised about Tuktamysheva placing higher than Kostornaia. I think Aliona will grow in confidence and improve as the season goes on, and it was great to see her with a little bit of that fire during her short. Liza is a veteran and an underdog and she has the goods to kill it with both technique and performance. And now we got Budapest this week and Skate America next week and Skate Canada the week after 😬 so hyped for everything to come!
the olympic team is between Kamila Valieva ( who is gonna win gold for sure) Scherbakova and Kostornaia. Even though all the Eteri girls deserve to go to the Olympic😂

I think the free program they put together for Kosto is strategically designed to bring her down. She shines the most when there´s a character, a sassiness to the music, a story to tell, and we cant find that here. It is also a reminder of her last season, bc its freaking Vivaldi again, and it sucks! so yeah, that is not the program for her. She could do it, but i just hope that somehow she finds a spin to it (she will most likely find confort in repetition tho) or that they change a part of the music, or whatever. Its a lovely but so overused piece (truly, dont at me bc of Vivaldi, i love the dude, but he needs some rest) Kosto is unique, you can not give her a characterless routine like thisssss, im watching you Eteri, we are not dumb, we still feel the hate, woman!

Nah, if anything, it's because fans are always going on about how Angel and Adios Nonino are her best programs. Four Seasons is an attempt to recapture that classicness but there's clearly still some work to do on the choreo.
I think you should do a version 2 of your « begginer’s guide to team tutberize » before the olympics. It would be great for people who want to watch figure skating during the olympics but haven’t caught up on anything before that.

Jason's Sinner Man is one of the best SP's of all time, and as someone who's spent 42 yrs in figure skating, that's a LOT coming from me! 😍 My friends agree btw (also 40+ yrs experience).
I loved the French dancers. Both programmes! They are head and shoulders better than anyone in the world, regardless of the judges pretending the Russians are anywhere near them. Love their programmes for this year. Btw, they never decorate their costumes, so don't expect them to (if they do I'll be shocked).
I was excited for the dance as my friend Lewis Gibson took 3rd with his partner Lilah Fear, and I was SO proud of them! Great start to the season. They just get better year on year, and they've only skated together for a few short years, so they've made a really fast rise through the ranks.
Lewis was a mens senior singles skater just a few years ago, so he's only been dancing for about 5 years or thereabouts! 🇬🇧💖
My biggest flex is I used to train on that same ice and I go watch Finlandia trophy evry year cuz I live 15 minutes away from there.
I hate to see people saying that Krustalny hates Aliona. It’s not true. If it was true then they would hate Trusova too and would give her “bad programs” but she got very good programs so it’s not the case. The problem with Aliona is something else than music, because Aliona can sell whatever on the ice with her charisma and ss. It’s something else and Daniil said Aliona has a barrier in her head. He also called her one of the most talented skaters ever, but there is just something in her head not allowing her to go forward. We don’t know what is happening in Aliona’s private life and why does she have such barrier in her head even if literally everyone agrees that she has the ability to be the best skater in ladies field. The story about Daniil taking a “revenge” on Aliona with this programs is a circus story. He doesn’t have any reason to do that.
I don't think its because she left, but a lot happened when she left. This is no hate to aliona but many people have said that she had an attitude ( im not saying she does this is what has been said ), and she knew she was leaving to plushenko but didn't say anything until after her new programs were done by team tutberidze. Also she said danny g has awful choreography and that if eteri wants to say something she should say it to her face. Trusova however transferred in the transfer period and never bad mouthed or said anything about the coaches once she left so even though the both left and come back it would be understandable that they might have something agaisnt kostornia. This has also been said numerous times that RusFed told the russian judge to put her behind Hendrix and they did, you can even check the score sheets. So it does not really look like a good situation. Russia always fights for their ladies but with kostornia now their own judge from their own country is putting her bellow a skater from another country. I doubt the coaches are taking "Revenge" but its obvious they don't like her.

It’s not that judge or rusfed have something against Kostornaya it is just that at Finlandia in her free she was not good like she can be. She deserved to be below Hendrix. It’s not that they don’t like her it’s more like they have 6 other girls who actually fight for the olympic spot even if they’re not talented like Kostornaya. They can not give their full attention to Aliona, because Aliona herself admitted she is not disciplined enough and she always needs someone to push her to do more. Imagine RUSFED has Kamila Valieva who is now a walking sniper for other ladies, Alexandra Trusova who risks everything to be on the podium (going from 12th to 3rd place), Anna Shcherbakova who proved herself everytime is mentally very strong. Liza Tuktik who won silver medal at worlds and keeps fighting and showing will. Maya for now has 2 quads… What do they have to do with Aliona who lost her only ultra c element, skates depending on her mood, can’t memorize her choreo fully.. this is not a hate against Aliona, but a sad reality that she is doing all the things to herself and not rusfed, not Eteri.

It's an olympic year and I understand they don't want to waste time with someone who is not making progress when they have 5 other talents. However from what I heard, and this is just what I heard not what I fully believe or am marking my words agaisnt, but I heard that her going to finlandia trophy was to teach her a lesson and even prior to the competition the judge was told to place her bellow Liona Hendrix even if she did well or not to show her that they wont put up with everything thats going on. I feel like she is very stuck right now and if I had to pick the olympic team now she would not be on it. I really think at this competition in the fs if she skated the way she did, a clean rika or wakaba could have beaten her. What do you think?

About Liza, i just adore her!! Her FS is super entertaining and the SP is also great. Among the Eteri girls and Liza, in Russia, her 3A is the most stable, as of now and shes not here to play, shes going for it.
Aliona improved her interpretation a lot, compared to test skates. with repetition, i believe shell improve even more. I loved the FS song, however, the dress just doesnt do it... I think she'll get her 3A truly back, but we'll just have to wait and see...

Her music for last season I think? She used an orientalist/Asian music. The music was Japanese and yet she wrote Chinese words on her dress which was uh kind of strange lol, she probably didn’t do enough research to distinguish the two because Chinese and Japanese are so different and when someone wants to skate to oriental music they really should do some research on the language written on her dress at the very least, if it’s matching the language in their song. So Japanese fans were quite offended. I think it was also affected that Hanyu fans were upset because he was criticized by a lot of famous skating figures and western media for using Japanese music, even when he’s Japanese himself, yet Liza wasn’t. Either way people reach and hate a lot these days due to the cancel culture but there is some truth in the Liza criticism. Still an amazing skater anyway, and I don’t think it’s that huge an issue to hate and bash on her. Maybe educate her instead?

Only Liza's technical components are way higher. She had 3 amazingly successful 3A and all her jumps were great except for a 3Lo and her choreo both on the short and the long are amazing. If aliona got ahead it would be a huge injustice

You are by far my favourite figure skating commentator and your videos are hilarious, nicely edited and have that snarky, fun excitement that we all feel when we watch figure skating. I know you don’t know all of the history like some of the other skating channels but you do know lots and have the same absolute love of the art, the athleticism and the drama. And i can’t tell you how much I live for it.
I think Kostornaia going right after Valieva spooked her. She had to both see and hear her record broken and go right out on the ice! I think she meant her words about upping her work ethic. I don’t think Daniil is mean. I think they would not even give her the time of day if they were disinterested, but they also know that what they are seeing is not her best. They know she’s talented,. They know she’s capable. It’s frustrating watching talent not be fully invested. I say this as definitely a bit of a Kosto-bot. Haha.
She is the "skater" skater. I mean if you love skating with difficult jump layout then you'll love her. I am fully in the Kostobot train and I'll be disappointed if she is not going to the Olympic because she is that talented.
The point on talent not having the same work ethic really reminds me of Marin Honda. Really am rooting for kosto but it almost feels like rusfed right now wants her to start actually upping her game and have less of the drama. They are playing hard ball with her and want her to suck it up and work. I really hope she does and comes back stronger and becomes a real contender for the olympics.

I read somewhere that programs for Aliona were actually selected by herself this season... Recall how this was her issue that she was not allowed to select the music. So may be that's why they are boring as before when the programs were selected by Eteri/Glekh they were cool and full of character and charisma. Not to bring down Vivaldi, but I think it's not good for Aliona, she's full of character herself and the music should reflect that.
I agree. She might not have liked them, but they picked winners for her for sure and she sold them much more than the ones she has now. Maybe the ones she picked are a bit too personal. Sometimes, the needed character is a bit too close to home to access.

I think they want her to “pay” for the drama she caused, leaving for plush, the instagram and rozanov drama. Eteri’s camp could have chosen a better part even for four seasons, they didn’t. But truth is kosto is too stubborn for that and this teenage pride needs to be matched with work ethic and drive…I don’t see as much of that rn when compared to when she was a junior
Can someone tell me the story behind the Kostornaia dislikes? My assumption is that she is "brattier" or more disagreeable than the other skaters. Is there anything else? Other than she may be less easy to work with, however not difficult to work with. She may be older than her age...compared with other skaters, but have not yet caught up in maturity. Her expression in her older self may or may not be valid, or appropriate. But the dissatisfaction with those expressions may also be not valid, or may be overly subjective.
In all honesty, male skaters are easier to work with. 😂🤣😂

Nobody likes seeing people get injured but you don’t mess with a good work partner and long term friendship. I think he got too prideful about how he could do it on his own with anybody else (yes Vanessa is a strong skater) but it isn’t about just that, it’s about how the partnership works and he really thought he was above it, guess not.

Anna isn’t doing her quads in competition yet, and no one knows if she can get them consistent yet. and depends if trusova can get her nerves in check. depends if kamila’s technique can be sustained until the Olympics. Tuktik is possibly gonna give the Eteri girls a run for their money. Liza has been doing 3A since 2015, and she has years of international senior experience, giving her an edge in the nerves game. If Kostornaia either changes her long, solidifies her 3A, or just sells tf out of the four seasons program, she could also be a contender.

@@Ardit-kq4bt you never know what is gonna happen before and during the Olympics. Kamila’s base jump technique is very dangerous, and she’s making them quads and 3A, making them extra dangerous. That combined with the immense pressure to win that people like you put her under can end up being her downfall. Anna hasn’t shown us yet that she got her quads back, but it’s still the beginning of the season. I know Anna won worlds without quads, but so many of the top ladies are doing ultra-C elements and are out for blood this Olympic season. There are so many possibilities.

America's best hope is Alysa Liu who has quads and a triple axel. Karen Chen nice skater but there's very little difficulty compared to the other skaters out there.
The same goes for Bell and Tennell. Amber was a disappointment in Finland she needs to pick it up.
The scary thing is how unhappy Aliona seems. Kosto depression is possible. The pressure on her is massive because she knows if she's not on she has no chance for the podium at rusnats. But she is the most beautiful skater in the world when she's on.
Eteri will have a couple of the girls leave her after the Olympic season..
This is Liza's 3rd chance at an Olympic team. She blew the first two chances. In 2018 she got beat out by Sotskova. I mean really?
The problem is that Alysa Liu never had a quad, she had horrible technique where she would essentially do up 1.25 rotations on the ice so her "quad lutz" was actually an underrotated triple loop. Now that she's grown she can't do the fake quad anymore, and her speed has barely improved. She was always extremely slow on the ice and appears to be very slow now. She will get demolished in a real international competition.

Loena looked lil bit slow to me, sometimes her hands were sloppy, but overall her performance was good. I think Karen deserved 3rd, but her jumping content is disappointing

budapest trophy is currently on-going. ladies sp will be on saturday and fp on sunday (moscow standard time). headlining will be russian & world champion, anna shcherbakova.
Even if quadster Veronica zilina (spelling?) pulls out of the final in December, there will still be 2 tutberitze girls and 2 plushenko girls. Next in line for the junior final is another plushenko girl.🙂

She is "older" skater, so I guess she has to conserve her body. She didn't do 3-3 as well in the FP, maybe she thought she didn't need it. I bet she will be going all out in the Rus Nats, but she will need to do her 2 trixels and at least 1 quad and 3-3 to even compete for that last spot.
Maybe I'm completely on the wrong track with this, but I think Jason's FS costume might be a reference to the jews' uniforms they had to wear in the concentration camps (since he skates to Schindler's list)? Those where grey and white striped clothes, which the costume kinda reminds me of, and the yellowish-gold spot on Jason's chest could be a nod towards the yellow stars the jews had to wear back then. Of course, since it's a costume, it's more symbolic than direct (I think actual stripes and stars could've been offensive), but if it IS about that, then it's a very clever design!

1. Liza is just a goddess, honestly I could watch her skate all day. And I’m 100% rooting for her to get to the olympics.

3. Kamila - wow, I felt like a proud mom watching her on her senior debut.
However when it comes to Bolero don’t get me wrong I love her routine -
But when your from the UK like me - home of Torvil and Dean, and their famous Bolero from the 1984 olympics… it’s so hard to think about anything else when hearing that music 😂

kamila - im a lil worried they scored her FP to high, its really early in the season. shes obviously going to get better as the season goes on [like everyone does] so it leaves me wondering how high her scores will get. i loved her FP costume, hated the SP.

Rumor has it that Bradie T has a back injury. I'm thinking the contenders for U.S. ladies at Olympics are Karen, Bradie, Alyssa and Mariah. As to who is chosen, not sure at all, but so far I agree that Karen seems like a definite for spot 1. Bradie would be a good pick for consistency (if injury-free) and Alyssa for ultra-C elements. My personal favorite of U.S. ladies is Mariah Bell for her interpretation and lyricism though (Hallelujah had my heart!)
Just watched Budapest wrap up! Took everyone’s scores in international competitions so far and put them in order from highest to lowest this season. 1) Kamila, 2) Liza, 3) Maia, 4) Anna, 5) Aliona, 6) Sasha! I know some will argue about Sasha, but the scores are what they are until they compete again and get something higher! Sasha has never been a matter of if she can, but whether she can in competition. My takeaway? I cannot stress about who goes to the Olympics because it’s honestly unpredictable. Cannot wait for RusNats!

Oh and the Jason costume.... it is somber gray and black to represent the horror and sadness of the situation. The black lines represent the barbed wire and entrapment of people in the ghettos and concentration camps, and the wave red and orange represents the scars and pain of those who suffered. It is also right over his heart, meaning both physical and emotional scarring and pain. In the actual video, I think the waves are over his heart, which gives it more personal meaning.

According to yesterday news Tutberidze team decided to change both of Aliona's programs - now in short she will skate to New York, New York by Frank Sinatra, and free program to lovely by Bille Eilish (suppose that it is that free program from last season, which she didnt skate because was with Plushenko team). And most likely she will already skate them on Skate Canada!!
The USA ladies team is not overshadowed by the craziness of the Russian ladies is it overshadowed by the talent of the Russian ladies
I swear, Kosternaia is being sabotaged by Dani G, it is his revenge for her (rightfully) saying his choreo is bad. He even bad mouthed her in the press, how unprofessional and childish of him. She has got the wort choreo out of the bunch. And her fed cleary dropped her as well. Nonetheless, I'm still rooting for my girl, she HAS to make it to the Olympics. Also bring back "You should see me in a crown" because she sold that!
Tuktamysheva getting overscored in PCS in ... something. I don't enjoy her skating. Her jump technique is great but the skating skills are not. She knows how to handle an audience tho, curious if she has a big fanbase in China.
My favoutite programms are Karen Chen's SP, her skating is just gorgeous. Loena Hendrix's SP was so fun and enjoyable, she is shaping out to be one of my new favourites.

Yeesh, I don't know about Jason, He's a really great performer, but his technique for the lutz especially is lackluster. As for Kolyada, he's such a talented skater, I can't understand why he isn't more successful in his programs it seems that he can never manage to capture that gold medal. Kamila shows promise, but I feel like her performance is overrated, I think she would benefit from a coach change, (at least in terms of performance/technical value, but Eteri girls seem to come out on top regardless of performance, sorry), I'm worried that if her jump technique does not improve she'll end up with a career riddled with serious injuries, like Kosternaia and Trusova, especially since she's going for so many. Here's hoping Aliona and Sasha will make a comeback in the Grand Prix Series, I want to see my girls at the olympics!
Just because usa figure skaters aren't shrouded in drama doesn't take away from their talent and the enjoyment of their performances. Karen Chen is a lovely skater, just because she doesn't have a chance at medaling and doesn't have a toxic coach doesn't make her boring 🙄

Kamila's good but her components are insane. Even if Sasha jumps 5 quads it might not be enough. And I would understand if Kami had such a score closer to the Olympics (like it was with Alina), but she starts with 72! Insane

Thinking about all the comments about that the coaches want to bring Aliona down with bad costumes & music & choreo. Does someone have facts on how this actually works? Thanks!

In ur previous videos there re eng subtitles. Those re auto subtitles, but it helped me a lot to understand everything more clear.

I think Kostor has nothing to lose here. I'm sure she somehow know she might not get into the Olympics Team. At this point, I think she should just do her best and enjoy herself. I'm sure with lesser pressure from herself to herself she will skate better. All these drama people around her trying to fuel is pointless actually like move on, you accepted her back so now do the job :")
But are they really being dramatic or are people online spreading rumors and blowing things out of proportion? They accepted her back. They would not waste their own time on her if they hadn’t truly done it. They have a massive amount of ladies at the top in seniors and juniors and also have some other disciplines to manage and worry about. Far too busy for half of the drama ‘fans’ like to fabricate and exaggerate. If programs are suffering, I think it’s that they don’t have time to chase after folks to make sure they follow through on every detail.

@@racheltan3850 I agree. I just think it’s a high stakes year where everyone wants their favorites in and it’s just not going to happen for everyone in Russia. There are 7 skaters all from the same country that could do well at the Olympics and only 3 spots. This is regardless of quads or 3A because other countries’ ladies are not consistent in that area either. Honestly, I might be more excited for Grand Prix finals and Russian Nationals than anything else because it could go any kind of way depending on who skates how!

Kostornaia, if she did not like the music in the long program, she sure fooled me. It was beautifully done, though imperfect. Not too many would be able to skate and match this music to make the program beautiful and mesmerizing. No sassyness necessary, it won't match this music anyway.
i think she chose the music for both of her programs? idk why people kept on bullying her coaches where they already gave her opportunity to choose especially that she left team tut because she did not have freedom on such things.
and yes, the choreography is lackluster but so is everyone else. it's already on the skaters' part to sell the program well. she should have not went back to eteri, aop will probably give her better programs.

I hope this is just me being paranoid and reading way much into things but Im actually worried about eteri girls not being consistant. Like I know practically the entire russian team is incosistant at this point except for Elizaveta, but Im suuuper worried for the ladies in particular considering in the past these consistancy issues turned into bigger problems with every leading eteri girl. Again, I hope this is just me being paranoid, that the girls are just getting used to competition again, but Im actually scared for them. Whether its something physical or mental, Im very worried

The thing is, it’s basically impossible for skaters skating tons of quads and 3As to be consistent. Alina and Zhenya were, but they weren’t jumping hundreds of Ultra-C jumps. Hell even the men jumping quads are inconsistent most of the time (Nathan is the only exception. He’s a huge outlier and very consistent). I don’t see how the girls will become consistent because even after jumping quads for so long, men are still inconsistent. Quads are very high risk, high reward, they are so high risk that it’s basically impossible to be inconsistent. Plus the psychological issues-if they fall on one quad, it might completely destroy their motivation and confidence performing the program like we see with Sasha.
@@Bella-po8vh yes i agree, i think we as the audiance arent asking for the impossible here, ofcourse theyre gonna fall and trip. however i think we can all agree the russian federation and coaches dont think like this. So it becomes this vicious cycle of Skater Falls - Stresses - Coaching Get Tough - Skater Suffers Physically and Mentaly - Skater Falls and so on. I think the issue isnt that theyre inconsistent with the jumps itself but like... the situation around the jumps? Does that make sense? The pressure put on these girls is usually the reason why it goes all down hill even if theyre incredibly talented.

I think she just recently showed consistency again after her injury and growth spurt. People weren't sure if she could continue to deliver quads or a 3A after she hit puberty but she got her 3A back, which is good enough to be a serious contender given her other skills.
The four seasons is a classic composition more suited for a skater like Oksana Baiul. It did not fit Kostornaya's capricious style and jazzy swag. I believe that Tutberidze is a bit more invested in helping Valieva capture gold at the 2022 Olympics. As for Tuktamysheva, I really wish that she could retire already. I've been watching her for years and continually see her performing the same, redundant routines!

I agree a lot with what you say. The russians no longer look so invincible. Poorly packaged. Danny G's programs are getting tired and they have ugly costumes which don't help. Kamila's fs outfit is horrible. Those leggings just add clunkiness. Liza T you go girl You fight. You never give up. It is amazing despite concerns about the Russian skaters consistency, poor programs, poor outfits, lacking consistency, worry about growth the still bring it.
