The irony is that almost a third of this video is of Kamila Valieva skating, which is the main reason that I watched. I have nothing to say about her doping case because I have no idea what really happened. But what I can say is that watching her skate is like watching art in live action. What I cant stop thinking about, is that he russian girls didnt know who eteri was choosing as the female skater before leaving for the olympics. and in choosing Valieva, Eteri made her the first woman to land a quadruple jump, even though that was Trusovas specielty. To me it appears that trusova was really counting on that being her crowning moment instead of the ultimate win, so in choosing valieva it was the ultimate blow, another reason for her breaking down when ultimately becoming second place again... anyway, had eteri just chosen her or ana they wouldnt have had all this trouble

    1. Everybody wanted Canada to get bronze 🥉 medals now!
    2. Enough with the Kamilia drama that she cheated, do the crime and do the time.
    3. Russia wanted the punishment to be dropped for good (bribe anybody?)!
    4. U.S. time to shine
    5. Toast to Illia for the win and Jason still gained up and that guy (don't know the name) is gain on of coolness
    6. Fashion sense but out of medals, sense to nerves going around.
    7. Changing up for her outlook performance.
    8. Prodigal skater... clapping.
    9. Queer 🌈 power for the win.

I am sorry Kamila had to get a punishment and I think they were so harsh because of Grandpa's Waterglass, Strawberry dessert and I heard it was pancakes too. Honestly CAS probably felt ridiculouled. But the parents, Coaches and Doctors failed her and need to be punished as well!!!
Any Teammedal to Russia is undeserved and no wonder they keep on doping. They only get a slap on the wrist anyway, why should they stop 🤷.

for kamila to be russia’s top choice for their ONE spot if they’re possibly allowed back in 2026, all of those doped-up prepubescent little girls will have to be injured that season. kamila isn’t allowed to train either. she won’t return unless she is given a private show in china (talks of this right now) and maintains her form on her own with no coaching staff or team

I can understand that it's worth a footnote since "first" anything (people are like this with "first [person of some underrepresented country]" as well) is usually commented on, but people make it too big a deal. So many people fixate on this aspect of her and it's obnoxious

Honestly, who cares?! Why is figure skating now about having sex? Why must we always describe who someone sleeps with before we celebrate their accomplishments? Many in the LGBT community consider queer a slur and not an adequate descriptor. But that’s a separate convo. Can we please celebrate talent and accomplishment and not who people throw their legs up to?

Recognizing LGBTQ+ athletes is important from a historical perspective because of how they were treated in the past. Skaters like John Curry and Rudy Galindo can tell you what it was like to experience homophobia in this sport. The fact that Ilia Malinin, the current U.S. champion, made a comment about how not saying he's straight will increase his PCS, shows that homophobic beliefs are still in the sport.
And recognizing an athlete who is LGBTQ+ does not reduce them to one thing or minimize their accomplishments unless you see it that way. That is just one part of their identity that they feel proud to be open about when it was restricted in the past and when it is still restricted in many places today.

    • @jkvarner
      @jkvarner 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@JS-rb4kc bullshit. I’m a gay man and I don’t believe anything should be about sex except sex, and then privately. You’re signing a song to someone who fought decades for gay rights. I was there when everyone called us queers and pedophiles. I was there when men were called queers as they got their head bashed in with a baseball bat. Nobody reclaimed that word. I’m almost 70. Point me to the people who reclaimed it. I’ll give you $1,000 to present me the person who decided all gay people will now go by the slur we traumatized you with. You guys don’t give a shit about us. You live in a freedom we fought to give you and you lecture us about why we don’t get to decide how we identify. Then you shove flags and shit in our faces, take over our schools and media, trans all the gender non-conforming kids despite 80% of them are gay, make figure skating about it…. And then have the nerve to claim you need representation so you have to do it. If you think for 2 seconds gay people have not excelled in figure skating ever so we have to be represented now, you’re woefully ignorant. The whole world is sick of gay and queer being shoved in our faces. If you guys don’t stop it, you’ll reverse 50-years of fight people died for. And all of us will haunt you when we are gone for it. Amber is so preoccupied with everybody knowing what her mouth is on when she’s in private that she never hits a clean program. Ever. Drop the queer shit and skate.

@@Hi-lu5vfLet's be honest, Mark never stood a chance for the Individual Event anyway, his poor result in the Individual Event had nothing to do with the Team Event, in no universe he would have been able to surpass Nathan, Yuma, Shoma and Yuzu to get a medal. As for Mishina/Galliamov, the only way for them to surpass Sui and Han was if they made a critical mistake but they didn't. Nobody could have surpassed a clean Sui and Han in their home Olympics. Maybe Mishina/Galliamov could have taken the silver medal instead of Tarasova/Morozov if they weren't tired from the Team Event, but anything less than a gold means losing for them anyway 🤷🏼‍♀️
