    Best video on the Syntakt ever! Thank you for this, gave me a very good idea of how owning it would be like.

    My first two weeks have been incredibly creative.. but I’m already familiar with the Elektron workflow.

      Having experience with the model samples also definitely helped me getting started. Love the Elektron workflow🙌

    Could you explain how you made the lead synth in the drumless Second Jam? sounds really sweet! :D

    Thanks for the great video. I love the Syntakt for it‘s immediacy when being used as a live instrument, if that makes sense. 😊

    Hey thanks, very helpful vid as I consider buying one. About the overbridge problem, you get all individual tracks but no FX at all? Can you not run it all back through the Syntakt ext. input to apply at least some overdrive after or something?

  • @keithgoodale3945

    Excellent video! I wish I had seen this sooner! I’m running into the same issues with the overbridge workflow.

    To recreate the Kshmr kick on the Syntakt, try playing around with the BD Plastic analog machine. It has a lot of that higher-end punch you need.

    • @johnnygorillas
      @johnnygorillas  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      cool, gotta try that. I mostly used the analog kick engines so far.

    Nice video. For me a groovebox needs to be an inspiring piece of gear that allows me to create a piece of music without a pc that I enjoyed making and want to listen to (and hope others do to:). I think you showed this can be true with the syntakt. I’m still not sure if it is right for me… but maybe Santa will deliver one to me to try :)

    • @johnnygorillas
      @johnnygorillas  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can create cool stuff on the syntakt alone but I also really enjoyed connecting it to other gear. I hope Santa will do the right thing :)

    I was thinking of getting a Digitakt but damn... I have a feeling that I will never understand the Elektron workflow. How bad is it to learn? But be honest ;-) Anyway, great video!

    • @johnnygorillas
      @johnnygorillas  ปีที่แล้ว

      Depends where you're coming from. I've had a Model Samples before, so I knew a lot already. There's always a learning curve but I don't think it's too hard with the Digitakt/Syntakt.

    Hey nice of wifey to bring you waffle, and excellent journaling. Do you think it’s worth getting a Syntakt when I already have a Digitakt and a JX08? I’m finding it hard to justify the big price but I kinda love the idea of Syntakt as a stand-alone techno box

    • @johnnygorillas
      @johnnygorillas  ปีที่แล้ว

      Do you sequence the JX from your Digitakt? That gives the Digitakt basically one external synth engine, doesn't it? If you want 12(!) more, the syntakt could be great ;)

    • @johnnygorillas
      @johnnygorillas  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@AlexanderShelestov I friend of mine actually bought one as as a total newbie and he loves it so far. If you want to have a hardware setup (and no computer) and start with one piece of gear, the Syntakt is great. If you want sampling you could go either Digitakt or something like a Maschine/Mpc. Novation Circuit can be a cheaper alternative for starting as well

    I’ve sold my first one to get an analog rytm mk2. Ended up buying Syntakt again, it’s so quick to create ideas on, I never feel not inspired

    Really, no delay or verb or any fx at all via overbridge? 🤔

    • @johnnygorillas
      @johnnygorillas  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      you get the reverb and delay returns via overbridge. Only the "bus effects" cannot be part of the individual tracks....which actually makes sense, so I guess there's no way around it. Yes, you could later send everything back into the external ins but not sure if that is a effective workaround

  • @thiloeichhorn2654
    @thiloeichhorn2654 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    you got a really nice touch on this machine! 😊 great vid! the production workflow section reminded me why I sold my Rytm in exchange for the Tanzbär. The pure sounds were never exactly what I needed. Its all about the modulation and sequencing capabilities of the electrons. Complex percussions and baselines - this is where they shine... I'd like to see more gear porn from johnny gorillas. Someone should tell Benn Jordan he can retire 😜

    • @johnnygorillas

      Tanzbär Sounds are awesome, no doubt! And I definitely agree on the positive aspects of the Elektrons. There’s a lot of of useful musical ideas in here, no matter if I use the BDs and Snares in my tracks 🙌
