  • To celebrate the release of my EP "The 2020 Tapes", here's a live looping performance for my track "All the way".
    I'm using Ableton in combination with the binklooper maxforlive effect. It gives me the perfect combination of pre-defined loop lengths but also the freedom to start recording the next loop whenever I want with the click of a button. Also it works with audio and midi, which is great (I desperately miss a midi-looper similar to the Ableton standard looper plugin, which is only for audio).
    The live percussion is not in the studio version of the song, neither is the solo on the Seaboard...I just wanted to have a little more fun with the live version.

    how you only 198 subscribers, this is one of the most professional ablation performances I've seen. Inspiring to watch. So talented. well its 199 now. be nice to see how the Ableton side of things work in this, I can't see how you are triggering scenes

    Wow! How were you looping audio, the native Live Looper? If so, what low-latency interface do you have?
    How were you looping MIDI, session view? But I don’t see you triggering clips? IAC driver?

    • @johnnygorillas
      @johnnygorillas  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In this video I'm using binklooper - it's a maxforlive device which let's you automate looping in session view. It's pretty great! If you have maxforlive, you should give it a try. I'm using a Focusrite Saffire and no problems with latency for looping.

      @@johnnygorillas OK thanks, I'm learning the Binklooper now, did you use follow actions with bink to loop throughout the song, or how did you make it so hands-free?

    • @johnnygorillas
      @johnnygorillas  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Tapepusher honestly I don’t really remember the details. There’s a great binklooper tutorial by the maestro himself which explains the process. I haven’t used it in a while, but I guess I should try it again.

    Man how would u do this live I'm so curious. Obvs a bit more of a cut down setup right? That's alot to hail to gigs

    • @johnnygorillas
      @johnnygorillas  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm currently preparing a small live show and it's always a struggle what to take with me. It's gonna be more of a downtempo set (not really live looping) but the setup will be kind kinda similar I guess...Push, Xone Controller, Minilogue (or Grandmother) and op1
