Layer 1 deepbound progression isn't bad. Just use autodidact, get good or farm attribute stats then elemental stat until level 5 where you can actually start killing mobs. It's supposed to be challenging and rewarding if you can't get past it that doesn't mean it's difficult, just means you have a skill issue.

This has been an issue since day 1, there's so many inconsistent little things that drive me crazy, it's messy and nothing seems to be standardized or ordered in a logical way.

Wait 5-6 minutes for the barrier to despawn then run over and activate generator So Like you could have gone to chaser on the first run :)

Personally I like to dodge all his attacks except for his spear throw, since for some reason it's easier to parry than dodge, but try and prioritize dodging his crit move, as it can take off a good bit of hp if you aren't careful. For his running move either dodge or parry if you know the timing. To be honest you can pretty much back up from most of his attacks they won't be able to reach, just keep practicing him
