Such wonderful sights and sounds! Gorgeous pom-pom girls and a giant stadium full of people getting ready to see their team battle it out on a cool autumn night in Ann Arbor -- so electrifying!
I was at this game and it still remains the loudest and most electric crowd I’ve ever heard at the big house it was like a giant party after the game hardly anyone left the stadium for a while
I'm a life-long NYer, and as such surrounded by ''sophisticated'' snobs, many of whom attended colleges with small bands and where school spirit was looked down upon. This is so great it should be shown before Michigan televised games instead of what we have now, studio talking heads bloviating.
Marching in The MICHIGAN MARCHING BAND in MICHIGAN STADIUM on a Saturday was some of the Greatest Days of my life. A lot of lifelong memories and friends. This would have been the weekend that MICHIGAN upset osu in 1969. Go BLUE!
Goddamn I love college football. I remember going to the '98 Rose Bowl when I was 13 with my dad. You know where the Drum Major was from that year in '97? Pasadena, California. If that is not destiny, destiny does not exist.
What a great scene! I've been going to Michigan games since the early 70's as a tot and graduated from the University of Michigan in the early/mid 90's -- the University of Michigan is, was, and will always be the crown jewel of America -- Hail
What a band! At least they march so exquisitely with the spats all shining in perfect synchronicity. Thanks videographers. In Florida now but Still love the Blue.
Please, Michigan has everything. It has a history & winning tradition in football that most schools lack. Michigan was the very first college marching band to be awarded the Sudler Trophy as the top band in the nation by the John Philip Sousa Foundation. You can only win the prestigious trophy once, so the school that wins it first is the most highly regarded. lol Michigan also has the best college fight song or football march according to the late, great John Philip Sousa. Michigan was also the very 1st FBS school to win a national championship in football (1901) and won the very first bowl game in history, the 1902 Rose Bowl. Michigan boasts 42 Big Ten championships in football, which is the most, and 11 recognized national championships in football.
in my opinion ,history doesn't matter it is what happens in the now. For example my older brother goes to Baylor and I go to K-State, so our teams play each other every year, K-State has a winning record against Baylor, but since Baylor has beat K-State the last two times we have met, my brother has the bragging rights until K-State beats them again.
You think of college football, you think of Michigan. Blue blood? Yup. Iconic fight song? You got it. Iconic helmets? Got those too. What about jerseys? They’re iconic as well. Loads of B1G and National titles? Check. Star players/Heismans? Check and check. National relevance, still? Uh-huh. The Victors Valiant are still the sport’s premier program over its history, only close to being matched by the Crimson Tide, the Fighting Irish, and the Sooners.
Eh, their football hasn't been as great in recent times (only two AP championships) and I'm pretty sure that Sousa said that before ND's fight song was made. Michigan just has a greater advantage in academics compared to other football powerhouses.
I was was a member of TMMB, in the late 70's. TMMB has grueling rehearsals including practicing the entry sequence, many times. As soon as the first plume is visible from the tunnel, the sound pressure from the crowd's cheers is amazing all the way to the exit from the field. The Sudler Trophy win was great but, I'd enjoy seeing a competition like the "Big Band Classic" in "Drumline" to settle the debate over which band is "the best". YUBA and GO BLUE!
i have yet too see this in person i go to college out in CA ever since i understood and played football as a little kid always loved watching michigan games on tv lol
Ok, I live across the border in Ontario, a couple hours drive from Ann Arbor. I ain't ever been to a Wolverines game, but this video has pretty much convinced me to go.
My first Michigan football game at the Big House was with my Mom and Dad in 1969 vs Ohio State! When Fielding Yoset was the coach, they were going to build the stadium at a different site, only holding 79,000. He convinced them to build where it is now. They sunk the steel 65 ft into the bedrock, allowing them to add to the Big House
i remeber that game it was the perfect night game our first I do believe you could hear them cheering and hollering form my house it was so live in ann arbor that day we had a good time
I have been to the 'Shoe for several games. The Ohio State band is the main reason why. The Big House, Notre Dame Stadium and Neyland Stadium are all on my bucket list.
Goddamn I love college football. I remember going to the '98 Rose Bowl when I was 13 with my dad. You know where the Drum Major was from that year in '97? Pasadena, California. If that is not destiny, destiny does not exist.
+Randall Dennis It really was! At the risk of sounding like a total dork, this girl thinks that night was totally "Magical!!!" Ahhhh the memories! Roundtree, Hemmingway, Robinson.. good stuff!
I liked your comment not only because i agree with you, i am thankful for your sincerity and kindness, unlike the typical stubborn stuck-up Michigan fan. The Spartan Marching Band is the best band in the country. GO GREEN.
@AAK15 Did you notice the new drum major this year doesn't spin the baton in his left hand when arching back like Jeff McMahon did? He just puts the hat on the ground, crosses his arms and arches back. If you've never noticed before, go back to the 2:00 minute mark of the video. McMahon holds the hat in his right arm and spins the baton with his left hand while arching back and touching his head to the ground. A-MAIZE-ING! I couldn't do it either way...just saying McMahon was great!
@Jordan Arnold I've been to plenty of MSU games because my grandpa is an MSU graduate and their band has nothing in Michigans. OSU and Michigan have the 2 best marching bands in the country.
Not only is it one of the richest colleges in the US & the world. Michigan is ranked as one of the very best universities in the world by US News & World Report. It's the only American public university ranked among the top 20 universities in the world. Michigan is ranked as the 14th best university in the world, just a fraction of a point behind 13th ranked Princeton & well ahead of Cornell, which is ranked 15th. Michigan is a true Public Ivy League school. We love our Wolverines too. Go Blue!!
i dont really give a shit what you think about OSU. but all marching bands have one thing in common. we all love music. thats all that matters really. to me marching is about making life-long friends and doing what i love.
Gives me chills!! And, did anyone else see the lightning in the top left corner? I loved how Michigan brought their own special lightning for the 4th quarter that game... Also, did you see that guy at 3:44? Not sure who he is, but I've noticed him in a lot of photos taken in Michigan Stadium. Who is this guy?!
As a Bama fan I agree the Michigan band is a superior unit but no SEC team would be scared by the band and crowd. Never saw a band or crowd score a point. I suggest checking out the Texas A&M band pre game entry for another excellent and entertaining performance.
I think Ohio states and Michigans marching bands are the best college bands in the US! 2 different style though. One sticks to military roots and tradition while the other is the definition of a modern and more recent marching band.
Notre Dame fans cannot really hate Michigan. Notre Dame sits on Michigan Avenue that is a straight drive into Michigan, the University of Michigan taught Notre Dame how to play football, and Big Blue is one of only a few schools that hold a win / loss lead over the Irish .Although I do think Notre Dame has the most exhilarating and most apropos lyrics in their fight song and is probably the most well used high school fight song nation wide . In my city alone there are three high schools that use the ND fight song and in a 150 mile radius at least 15 or more do and that’s in Texas ! I’d say there is a rivalry between the two universities and football teams but not a passionate hate like their is between Michigan and Ohio State,Texas and the loathsome Aggies,or Alabama and Auburn , or several others,I think the most passionate rivalry of Notre Dame is that damn USC…who I cannot stand being a Texas Longhorn.Texas HAD TO BEAT usc in that Rose Bowl game ! I could not stomach a third national championship in a row for that damn usc . Or another one for george- juh, next year.
Every marching band has their own thing. Ohio State has their unbelievable formations (lucky to see them live), Michigan has the most known fight song (also the easiest to play) and Michigan State has the best drum line in the big 10, maybe all of football. I have seen all three of those bands live (went to 3 Michigan games, season ticket holder for MSU and saw OSU's band when they came to Spartan Stadium) so it's not like I'm being biased
We don't give a shit about Ohio State or Michigan State! They're both inferior shit schools. Michigan was the very 1st college marching band to be awarded the prestigious Sudler Trophy by the John Philip Sousa Foundation. It's the Heisman Trophy of all band awards. Michigan is the trailblazer in everything. Michigan owns the Big Ten! Michigan has 42 Big Ten football championships, which is the most. Also Michigan has 11 recognized national championships in football, which is the most of any B10 school. We have winning records over every B10 school in football except for Nebraska. Our series with Nebraska is tied only because we've played Nebraska the least of any B10 school.
and i thought i was bias.....Michigan has 11 recognized national championships, and what....8 of them were before WWII? Technically MSU has more national championships after WWII than Michigan does. Michigan's band is good, but I believe OSU and MSU is much better. My opinion.
Stanford is ranked 12th, Princeton 13th, Michigan 14th...Yep, Michigan is the only American public university ranked among the top 20 best universities in the world. Cal-Berkeley is ranked 21st well behind Michigan. Berkeley doesn't have anywhere near the endowment that Michigan has.

I'm talking about Michigan, the great academic institution and the LEGENDARY, all time "winningest" program in college football history with 11 national championships, 42 conference championships (the most in major college football), and the ONLY B10 team to win a BCS game in '12 & finishing '11 with the best record in the B10 with a rookie 1st yr coach. PLEASE, compare that with MOO U which is a very weak program which failed to win the B10 with a VET team & has NEVER played in a BCS game. LOL
I'm in West Virginia now but every time I hear hail to the victors I get emotional proud to be from MICHIGAN!
Such wonderful sights and sounds! Gorgeous pom-pom girls and a giant stadium full of people getting ready to see their team battle it out on a cool autumn night in Ann Arbor -- so electrifying!
Nothing like the passion of The Big House. Go Blue
semper fi. Go Blue!
Fuck You

Yah think lol One of the rowdist most passionate fans at all of the NCAA
100,000+ fans for 298 straight home games and counting !
well it’s the largest football stadium
If 2:50 to 3:40 doesn't send chills down your spine you don't have a pulse
+MacEasy89 Bruh how out 5:06. Was at that game. GREATEST GAME EVER!!

HAIL yes!
Either that or you hate michigan like I do
MacEasy89 Michigan game basketball football man
What a band! At least they march so exquisitely with the spats all shining in perfect synchronicity. Thanks videographers. In Florida now but Still love the Blue.

You took this from My end of the Field. Nothing better than the Michigan Marching band!!!
I'm the fan from State but this is really AMAZING ONE.
When i go to the games, i love the go blue chant and the staidum echoing. Especially when i was at this one.
Grande Show ! Abraços do Brasil From Brazil
I would honestly have to say...if I was the opponent and saw this for the first time, I would be like what the hell are we getting into?
Michigan band
Lol that’s what I say about LSU Tiger stadium at night. God help the opponent that dare steps into that stadium for a night game lol

You got great seats dude!!
I have been to the 'Shoe for several games. The Ohio State band is the main reason why. The Big House, Notre Dame Stadium and Neyland Stadium are all on my bucket list.
I Love Michigan
Wendy Henry who doesn't
The best game I ever attended in the
Big House
So glad the renewed the rivalry
I'm in love whooiiiiii again
Welcome to the magic of night home games. Wish you guys would play more of them. GEAUX TIGERS!
+Kyle Wang Until we continue to play well we aren't deserving of night games. but that will soon change,...GO BLUE!
+Dave Nope. Harbaugh doesn't like them.
Goddamn I love college football. I remember going to the '98 Rose Bowl when I was 13 with my dad. You know where the Drum Major was from that year in '97? Pasadena, California. If that is not destiny, destiny does not exist.

The greatest sight in college sports
Full stadium participation Razzmatazz 🙂 Awesome 🤘
goose bumps
Bella presentación de Michigan😂🎉😢❤❤❤❤❤
Great video!!
Steve Everitt walks by @3:42. I'm incredibly jealous, the new renovated Big House looks AMAZING. Hopefully I can get tickets to the MSU game.

It was the light reflected in the videographers cam lens
He's a former player. I forget his name but do recall that he was an excellent player.
All opponents that are experiencing this for the first time:
Why f*** are we doing this
Well come visit and join us! Great equestrian programs too..
To the person who recorded this,I think that was former Michigan player Steve Everitt to your right at the 4 minute mark
Dam America is fucking on the top of the world for sports
Schrödinger except in football always get your asses kick in the world cup hahahaha
@Jordan Arnold I've been to plenty of MSU games because my grandpa is an MSU graduate and their band has nothing in Michigans. OSU and Michigan have the 2 best marching bands in the country.
Let me save you a trip to see legendary Notre Dame Stadium. It's a smaller replica of Michigan Stadium, since ND has its roots in Michigan football.

@andyk10013 Don't know, he was talking to people next to me. It was very crowded on the sidelines that game.
It may have been someone that he seen on the jumbo screen? just a thought.
You'd have to be there to really appreciate it. The sound pressure can take your breath away. Of course, being a fan of the team helps.
i dont really give a shit what you think about OSU. but all marching bands have one thing in common. we all love music. thats all that matters really. to me marching is about making life-long friends and doing what i love.

kinda makes me tear up a little bit.
MSU is definitely considered huge. I think any school in the top 10 in enrolled students can be considered 'huge'.
@blazingdarkness16 Regardless of who you love or hate, this is simply one of the greatest traditions in all of college football. GO BLUE!
I think Ohio states and Michigans marching bands are the best college bands in the US! 2 different style though. One sticks to military roots and tradition while the other is the definition of a modern and more recent marching band.
What is the person in the video referring to with "Chords?"

forget that JP Sousa guy, Lekcots11 has some reservations.
i dont think so, im not an OSU fan but they have a pretty cool one, even if u r a U M fan u have to admit it
3:10 Tell that guy to shut up
So eventually, every band will win it?

Uniform chords maybe... I think he said "whose chords"
ohio states percussion doesn't do their own drumline things. they are always with the band.
