    I, a huge Michigan fan for 42 years, was in a coma when this game was played. Clinging to life in the ICU. I survived that huge challenge and was so thrilled to be able to watch this game 6 weeks later. It spurred me on to an even greater recovery. Go, Blue!. And thank you, boys.

      Cool story. Ironically, a month before this game I was in a coma from a brain injury and was just out of the hospital. I thought the end of this game would give me a heart attack. I collapsed on the floor and then cried, happy to be alive. True story. I hope you are better.

    Denard could have been an excellent QB if he had good mechanics. 95% of his throws were made either off balance or on the run. He had the arm strength before the injury yet could never lose the happy feet. If he had been able to be more accurate, it might have saved the arm from the nerve injury and maybe just maybe could have played under center in the NFL. Kudos to him for making it work at RB.

    I was with my two boys 13 and 11 at a soccer tournament in South Bend the day this game was played. We were in a hotel room watching the game. I could never get comfortable with Denard’s insane, risky style of offense. I threw the remote at the TV with like 4:00 left in the game when Norte Dame scored to go ahead. I was pissed that I would have to see beaming ND parents all happy the next day. I was grinding my teeth trying to fall asleep. We didn’t find out until the next morning that Michigan had performed a miracle.

  • @ernestkovach3305
    @ernestkovach3305 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    UM's all american QB Denard Robinson in just 2 "official" Games vs Nd in his career (3-0 overall) had GET THIS over 900 yards of total offense vs hapless ND in back to back victories for UM in 2010 and this game in 2011 that will live in college lore ETERNALLY. It is BY FAR the most dominating back to back display vs ND by a single opponent player in history. Robinson also threw 4 TD passes in this game while rushing for well over 100 yards! ND fanatics still have nightmares over this game. The ND chokers were leading 24-7 IN THE 4th Quarter and still choked the game away. Glorious!

    I just rewatched the 2010 game against ND in South Bend where Denard had over 500 total yards. Granted he was never a fantastic passer, but I always thought he was a bit underrated in that department. Nonetheless, the improvement he made between 2010 and 2011 as a passer was incredible and his touch on passes during these final drives showed that growth. Quarantine observations. GO BLUE!

    How he did at the combine doesn't matter as much as what he did in his career. I'm not saying that he set the world on fire at WR, but he was good enough to have a 9 year NFL career, and was an All-Pro in 2005. A lot of players entering the pros would be real happy with that.

    Finally, this thread has transformed into a true Univ of Michigan thread with intelligent dialogue & discussion of football history. I didn't know that Michigan was originally a Jesuit school & taught Notre Dame how to play football. That's interesting. I just looked it up. That feud between Fielding Yost & Knute Rockne is epic. ND's very first game in history was with Michigan in 1887. Of course, Michigan won. Michigan is ND's only rival with a winning record over the Irish.

    Notre Dumb had to cancel their series after beating a 5-7 Michigan team, for in fear they would have to play against Harbaugh's guys. Wusses.

      Michigan is already better than FSU, and not too far behind Clemson. You are still wusses for dropping UM.

      ravi needs to pipe down. Yes we are optimistic having Harbaugh, but to start talking trash (quite poorly may I add) makes Michigan fans look bad. Wait for Michigan to win a B1G title or at least beat MSU or OSU before you spout your garbage. I am super psyched that Kelly announced the UM/ND game will be played again "as soon as possible". Go Blue!

      How fucking stupid are you? Michigan was off the schedule years before Michigan hired Harbaugh.

    Within the last 15 seasons, Michigan has won a national championship; scored a BIG BCS bowl win over SEC Champion, Alabama; scored a BIG bowl upset win over a Heisman winning Tim Tebow led, top 10 Florida team. Michigan is 2-1 against Bama, 2-0 against Florida, and 20-6-1 against the SEC overall. If Bama beats Michigan in Dallas, it can only even its record with Michigan. Bama should win but must also still live with the stigma that Gomer Pyle is its brightest & most distinguished alum. LOL

    Michigan needs to acknowledge its Jesuit roots. Father Gabriel Richard is the true founder of the Univ of Michigan. He was the chief architect of the curriculum at the original college & the chief educatonal authority in the Territory at that time. The university or catholepistemiad was his vision. Although, legally, Michigan was called the University of Michigania, it was also called the Catholepistemiad of Detroit thanks to Father Richard. Most of the original faculty were clergymen as well.

    All Michigan has is history so I hope you maize & blue fans embrace every moment of it. 1 Split title since world war II says so much. But hey,it's so great to be up there with the Yale and everything.
