The beauty of St. Stephen’s Basilica | Budapest | Tour October 2023

Szent István-bazilika, as it is called in Hungarian, is one of the most beautiful religious structures we've ever encountered and at the same time is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The most unique thing about the most significant religious buildings in Hungary is that you'll find the hand (RIGHT HAND) of Stephen the 1st inside at an altar as the church is named after him, The First King of Hungary. He is the most significant historical figure in the country.
While there, you can visit the Church, go up on the Terrace, and enjoy the beautiful view of Budapest as the Basilica is the tallest building in Budapest together with the Parliament, and/or visit the Treasury.
The exterior of the building was built both in neo-classical and neo-Renaissance styles by 3 architects in its long construction period of 55 years. It is said that during the opening Emperor Franz Joseph I was persistently looking at the dome out of fear that it might collapse again like it did back in 1858.
A Christmas fair is held in the square in front of the basilica during the Advent season, and at that time of the year, the façade is decorated with special light paintings in the evenings.
