I thought she was gonna do a trick or something lol. The last couple of videos were about nice cops interested in skating. What a way to end the good cop streak lol.
The only reason why i clicked this video because it didn't show the full name on the right side of my screen . all it said was Cop Teaches skateboarder how to.
Cops like this are what make people hate us... How hard would it have been to say, "Hey just so you know, in this area, skateboarding isn't allowed... So, I'm not gonna give you a ticket or do anything drastic, could you just move somewhere else?" My job is not about being a tough know-it-all, and then there are ones who are, and they make us all seem like we are... -Be respectful when you're out 10-8. Make a *positive* difference. You never get a 2nd chance to make your first impression...
She did warn him. I live in Charleston, and these kids have been involved in vandalism and destruction of public property ($10k+) on several occasions. Maybe they didn't physically "hurt" anyone, but they have committed crimes. They are well aware of the law that skateboarding is prohibitted at the location but did so to make a video and deliberately baited the officer. They did not have the "right" to skateboard there.
@XmasterjamoX What nicks and bruises he may have gotten are irrelevant. It doesn't matter if she knocked him into a hedge or pulled out her club and clocked him. The point was the cop laid hands on someone where only a warning and a citation would have been called for. Her superiors agreed that she used an "unnecessary level of force", which is why she was suspended for 10 days.
Actually, at this time most states now have laws backing up a woman's right to breastfeed in public... but your point still holds. This is the sort of thing you write someone a ticket for, like littering. You wouldn't push someone into a hedge for dropping a gum wrapper.
the problem is that cops who abuse their authority get practically nothing for punishment. that encourages them to act worse, and for people to join the force for the sole purpose of abusing authority. making the cops who actually are trying to protect people have to deal with the anger caused by those who aren't. just like when someone slacks off at a job, someone has to pick up the slack. can't say much about it or get labeled a traitor/snitch and ousted/screwed over by coworkers.
There was NO excuse for what the cop did. It's not like the kid was attacking or killing someone or setting fire to a building or jacking a car. They were unaware skateboarding was banned in Charleston because they didn't live there... The first police response shouldn't have been to just haul off and attack the kid without warning THEN tell them is wasn't allowed.
That lady always threatens to take my bicycle. She is really good at sneaking out of nowhere. I would never sk8 the pineapple in the daytime. It's only going to take minutes before she shows up.
I have this up in the vid description area but most people don't seem to be finding it, so here: AP news: CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP, WLTX) - The Charleston police officer seen on Internet video pushing a skateboarder over a bush at a city park has been suspended for ten days. Police Chief Greg Mullen says 49-year-old officer Willie Simmons used an unnecessary level of force. The 19-year-old skateboarder declined to file assault charges against Simmons.
And the police can't get away with doing what they want just because they're the police. The skateboarder didn't do anything to justify a physical attack. It was wrong, period, even if he shouldn't have been skateboarding there. Tell him to stop (Lawful order). Give him a citation/ticket (Lawful action). Shove him into a bush (Assault).
so if there calling that excessive what the fuck did they call it when I was maced tackled, when I was a misstaken for my room-mate. They wouldn't even let me press charges
Cops kick ass dude. Protect and serve. I know asshole cops and I know kick ass cops. Assholes exist in all careers sadly. I mean I skate, I've been told to move it by both types of cops, but they never shoved me or threatened me. I mean hell cops take a risk everyday, you gotta respect that. I can understand the gained attitude from putting up with bullshit day after day. You're a boss. Keep coin what you're doin an be safe.
Absolutely agree. There are around 900,000 Police Officers in America... I hate to say, but it's the truth, maybe 100,000 are the minority of the great LEO's, and within that 100,000 there is 10,000 who are the minority within the minority, out of the I don't even know how many LEO's I have ever met, I've met probably less than 10 that stand within that 100,000.... Out of those kind, gentle, amazing 10,000... We need to multiply it until they are all like those unique 10,000. -Stay safe!
I'm attending the police academy in Norway, and I disagree with you. One thing is hurting yourself cause you do a sport. Another thing is getting pushed by a police officer. If that bruise he showed was from that push or not, I don't care. In Norway we have the Police Law, and under § 6 you are to "use the least amount of force necessary to stop the crime, unless it is attempted or clearly not enough". And pushing that kid for skateboarding when she could just asked him to stop is ridiculous.
Maybe all of you should know the real story. This guy and his brother own a skate shop that was about to go under, and they were trying to drum up business with this stunt. They went to the park (they've been kicked out before for vandalism and destruction of public property) to bait the cop and get her on camera. Even their MOTHER was quoted in the paper stating that she knew what they were up to and told them not to do it. Everyone here knows the real story. BE INFORMED.
I'm luck I moved to mariposa and all the sheriffs are awsome here. I don't skate but I bmx and your not saposed to bmx I'm the park so I got 2 of my bud together and asked the sheriff not a deputy but the head sheriff and asked if they could make a bmx park he said I'll take it in consideration and guess what he called and said just because of the three guys who came in he getting permition to build a park right now
Personally, I don't see nothing wrong with skateboarding, even in downtown Chicago.. I've never seen any accidents of innocent pedestrians due to an irresponsible skateboarder. I don't skateboard but for those that do they should be able to do it and it shouldn't be viewed as a crime. That cop was a bitch for pushing dude like that and he should file a complaint for assault. Just my 2 cents. Peace.
cops should let the skaters get their footage then they could leave , in like Spain (I was in Barcelona) the cops , securitys , and other people care about a skater or something and anyways if skating is so bad bicycling should be illegale
@psteverific Ya, but with pay don't forget. They all get their administrative leave with pay. When is the last time you heard about a cop acting out of line actually paying for their actions? Nothing will happen.
lol... you can't do that, there was no reason to use that kind of force. Where i live, in Sweden, that kind of treatment is even by a civilian counted as assault. I would have filed a complaint and sued that cop for every dime she got. Only because law enforcement personnel have the power to do stuff it doesn't mean they should abuse it. If i were a cop and i saw someone skateboarding where they shouldn't I calmly and respectfully tell them to leave. Don't need to be a dick because you can...
i wish all cops had your attitude, i've seen cops abuse their authority, slap my best friend in the back of the head way back when we were in high school while we had hands on the hood of his patrol car and legs apart, the whole frisking thing. cops harassing women, not reporting the amound of drugs (people caught with drugs didn't mind, lesser charge). cops son talking about how his dad and other cops would throw weed from evidence into a fire and stand real close to it.
Ohh please its just a fucking bruse besides i fallen of some weird shit and i'd still get up. It was good that they both left the plice woman without any phsical aggresion
@psteverific I get it but if this cop is got the willingness 2 do this & act like nothing was wrong with her actions & tries 2 turn it around on these kids, its gotta raise questions. I know that this is a rather lighter circumstance but as Professional Peace Officers they should already have the skill-sets in place 2 properly deal w/ situations like these & others that r much more serious 4 that matter. Yet these r the 1s that make it through the academy & the public is left 2 deal with them.
@lolttyl143 ya i dont actually think they were tools...saying i know this from 42 seconds of video was supposed to be sarcastic....they are prolly cool
@TheKid254921 "idiot last time i checked you dont go to prison for self defense dumb ass." Last time I checked the law differentiated between "self-defense" and "retaliation". You might want to learn the difference before punching any cops.
@lifprasir What a ridiculous thing to say on a video with over 300 comments. You have to be a real jerk to be blocked...usually involving making extremely racist or sexist comments combined with suggested violence.
suspended for 10 days , in reverse , prison for 10 months for assault on an officer of the law
I thought she was gonna do a trick or something lol. The last couple of videos were about nice cops interested in skating. What a way to end the good cop streak lol.
I thought the same thing,I only came by to see what move a hedge dive was :D
corey is the coolest dude I've skated with. hope he's still doin' his thing.
Affirmative action!!!
Cop is a jerk! She deserves a serious reprimand.
I love Charleston!
good for you
Well I appreciate that you appreciate what we do! :)
The only reason why i clicked this video because it didn't show the full name on the right side of my screen . all it said was Cop Teaches skateboarder how to.
Terms like that went out with the 60's, FYI.
@miseryXchord did you report her?
anybody else think that the hedge dive was a skateboard trick and the cop was gonna teach the kid how to do it?
You're pretty cool Mr.Internettoughguy sir.
If that was the real story, wouldn't the skater had pressed charges? In the description, it says he declined to.
That was in the warm up spot in a recent Transworld Skateboarding magazine, the cop got a 10 day suspension or somethin'.
Cops like this are what make people hate us... How hard would it have been to say, "Hey just so you know, in this area, skateboarding isn't allowed... If someone hadn't gotten this on videotape and posted it on the Internet I doubt they would have done anything about this, either.
lol the movement and quality of the film made this look like a video game at first
agreed
Actually, at this time most states now have laws backing up a woman's right to breastfeed in public... but your point still holds.

they suspended that cop 4 10 days 4 that.
Most cities don't have skateparks.
@mattfan14 He didn't file assault charges against her but she did get suspended for 10 days for using an "unnecessary level of force."
I was skating with my friends ad a cop pushed my friend down and he fractured his skull man did that cop go home limping badly
That is assult, we must not let the police state take hold. Get a lawyer
She didn't need to push him in the bushes at all. The skaters weren't even the badass attituded types.
exactly what i thought
I like how he says: Wooow holy crap OMG you just assaulted somebody. Perfect reaction!
wow...I probably wouldn't press charges, but I'd definately show the boss.
Should could have at least asked them to leave first
DID SHE FREAKIN TAZE U!!!
Skateboarding is not a crime.
That lady always threatens to take my bicycle. She is really good at sneaking out of nowhere.
I would never sk8 the pineapple in the daytime. It's only going to take minutes before she shows up.
i almost pissed my pans when the guy was talkin to the cop that was halaryis
...and then it's cops like these that make young people hate authority...

skater : (Bombing that bench)
Lady cop : Not in my house bitches!!!!!!!!!!!
Me : LMFAO
lol shes thinking- "your are gonna get injured skating here so im gonna injure you"
shouldnt have skated where you werent supposed to
No, it's just you.
yes i did
@miseryXchord you can argue ur case by saying it was self defence
so if there calling that excessive what the fuck did they call it when I was maced tackled, when I was a misstaken for my room-mate. They wouldn't even let me press charges
yes because I know nothing about skate boarding
@TheThebeatles1994 idk, idid not think the first one had come through
Cops kick ass dude. Protect and serve. I know asshole cops and I know kick ass cops. Assholes exist in all careers sadly. That was karma for something that kid probably did the day before, like torturing the neighbors cat...
@TyroneBigumms same here man
i hope that cop lost her job
Please write to me and tell me if she is still a cop
that was a nice nose manual.
i think it was
the ultimate irony is it was all on camera and what if he did get seriosly hurt that cop would be fucked
awesome. That little lady doesn't play. Guess it could have been worse. She could have written him a ticket.
Surely you can defend yourself cop or not?
Isn't middle school recess over yet? Thirteen years olds make such witty threats.
when i south the title i was like: it must be an old skool trick and the cop is a former skateboarder but NOOOOO everything must be fucked up
and then you would serving time for assaulting a police officer.
Absolutely agree. There are around 900,000 Police Officers in America... lol i seen that on the news she got fired i think
I live in the area. Mt. Pleasant kids are sometimes very arrogant. This punk deserved to be knocked down. I say the cop did the right thing.
WHAT?! whoa I've never seen a cop assault someone before! lmao perfect reaction
Trick tip?

Nah, I see what he's getting at. I saw a little Chris Tucker in that cop too. I probably wouldn't have thought of it unless I read the comment though.
most good cops ive seen personally have been state troopers. a few good city/county cops, but most seem to be bad apples.
High five cop! those guys were fuckin tools....i know this from 42 seconds of video
Y'know, do you think you people can make comments without trashing the cop for being a woman? Because I'm a woman, and it seriously pisses me off.
Maybe all of you should know the real story. This guy and his brother own a skate shop that was about to go under, and they were trying to drum up business with this stunt. Okay guys, could you please keep the obscenity laced personal attacks to PRIVATE messages, not the public comment area? Thx
Woah!

cop's are just somthing
yea fo real. go chuck
lol i thought this video was gonna show a cop teaching a skater a trick
EAST BAY!!!
Well, don't skate where it says don't skate, although that's unnecessary and he could've fallen just the right way and fucked something up.
@DiViNiTY1337 You really want to get into prison that badly?
haha you completly owned him great comeback intelligent
haha yeah that was ridiculous, but i think they knew that skateboarding was banned. mount pleasant is basically charleston anyways.
Thumbs up for great title. Very misleading in a way, but at the same time not.
wtf is her problem?
cops should let the skaters get their footage then they could leave , in like Spain (I was in Barcelona) the cops , securitys , and other people care about a skater or something and anyways if skating is so bad bicycling should be illegale

Lol she just pushes him off lol
lol... you can't do that, there was no reason to use that kind of force. Where i live, in Sweden, that kind of treatment is even by a civilian counted as assault. I would have filed a complaint and sued that cop for every dime she got.

@dandandamattressman tools my ass. they had a right to be mad cause the cop ASSAULTED them without a warning.
