We are regulars to saver caravans and never had any issues, always spotless. They're a base for getting out and about. Couldn't afford a week's hotel prices in Edinburgh, so we stayed at Haven Port Seton for £69 off peak and travelled in by bus from the park entrance every day.
If I go to Edinburgh I stay at the Hostelling Scotland's youth hostel a 5-10 minute walk from the city centre. Depending on the time of year, you can usually get quite a good deal. Private, no frills rooms are also reasonably priced. However, it's best to avoid Edinburgh in August!
All you do in a caravan is wash and sleep. The rest of the time you should be out enjoying a holiday. This is a lot better than a tent or an old motor home.
We use these caravan often. They are just a base. As we are retired, we go outside peak times and get great deals(Mon-Fri £49). Far cheaper then we can get a pitch (let alone the bedding/electric/etc/no towing) for our own van!
Great descriptive video, we have been to Berwick=upon-Tweed haven site for the last 2 years and love it, your caravan was on par with our Bronze version we normally get. Looking to go further afield next year in this amazing Country of ours.
Not particularly a regular customer but compare this price to taking your own van to a campsite and you would see what an absolute bargain it is. Nice to the point vlog.
We always stay in a saver caravan on that site when visiting Cornwall mainly only use it as a base, our last visit was this May this year, with our Daughter and family, also this time spent most evenings in the club house. I am approaching my mid 80’s my wife late 70’s., we first started visiting this part of Cornwall over 40 years ago when our children were young, they now take us.
We book a Haven Saver twice a year in either Kent, West Sussex or Suffolk. We go in mid May and then mid September and we only pay £45 per week for us both, this value cannot be beaten as it is the same unit as the one shown in this video. So believe it or not the two of us get two holidays for just £90 in total. Tremendous value if you book at the right time of year and we have never had bad weather. 😆😆

We liked Riviere Sands that much that we went back again this summer. This year we went to Falmouth, Carbis Bay, St. Ives, and we went to see a play at the Minack Theatre. We also managed to fit in a couple of beach days 😃
Our daughter works at the Haven Park in Hafan and I can assure you that the staff work tirelessly to ensure all holidaymakers have the best experience. @@BigTedsTravel if you go in season its a wonderful kids holiday. We went first week in october just me the hubby and our dog. It was very quiet but we were very impressed.
For the cheapest Haven site prices, book direct with the site not, the company. Used to have a couple of breaks each year when the kids were small oh, and don’t go mid summer when it is expensive. The “all action” sites are the most expensive, the smaller family sites are good enough and all have swimming pools.
@stevenmoran4060 Thanks for the tips Steven. We used to book direct with the site when our kids were young, but I didn't know you could still do that. I will look into it 👍
I agree, but I would rather have a clean caravan than a perfectly made bed. The cleaners don't get much time to clean the caravans and generally do a great job.
We had a caravan at Park Dean holiday park Carmarthen Bay site in June. When we got to our designated caravan there was a really awful smell outside the van. Guess what ……. It was only right next to a sewage works. The stench had permeated all through the Caravan, we went to reception to complain and were told “ well nobody else has complained!!!! and there were no alternative vans available. Half hour later they had found one, we went to look at it and quickly realised it was a sh..t pit. Awful to say the least which was a shame because I must admit most of the park is quite good.
Putting a holiday caravan next to a sewage works is ridiculous. We were looking at Pembrokeshire for our next trip, but we won't be going to Carmarthen Bay now!
South coast haven are usually the biggest tips…never known so many parks to have so much security because of fighting.that was the one and only time we decided to stay British! Fuck that,3 weeks after then canary isles.
I deliver food there from Penzance (11 miles away) still waiting for my first tip😅 but hey ho if I was to be living of tips per week I wouldn’t be able to buy a child’s portion of fish’n’chips 😂😂😂
@coasttocoastcaravanning6138 If you look straight out to sea, you are correct, St Ives would be to the left and Godrevy to the right. If you look across the estuary towards Carbis Bay from the Bluff Inn as shown in the video, St Ives is on the right hand end of the headland 🙂
I agree, the caravan was very nice, but would you have watched the video if it was called 'How nice is a Haven Saver caravan'? My videos on Bronze and Silver caravans have much lower viewing figures than this video 🤷♂️
@@BigTedsTravel well my aunt when alive had a few holidays in caravans when the sun had cheap caravan holiday tokens in the sun news paper a few years ago never had a bad one had a great time

Probably been said already but that is not a saver caravan. You may have booked and paid for a saver van but you have been given an upgrade to a much better spec one, probably 2 up like a silver or whatever they are called these days. Savers have no central heating and certainly no dishwasher, en-suite or tv in the bedroom.
@retrogeezer It was definitely a saver caravan and not an upgrade (you can tell from the seal on the door). Most saver caravans do have central heating, we have only had one that didn't. I think this one was classed as a saver because it was quite small (bronze and silver are guaranteed to be at least 12ft wide). The dishwasher was a bonus, we have stayed in silver vans which didn't have one.
This kind of caravan, is a tinder box. Looking at the back of the hob confirmed that its only a matter of time. The cost is very cheap.Other than that, as they say its just a base-but what if it pours with rain? No not for me thank you. I'd rather save for a better accommodation.
I take my own bed linen quilt and mattress protector when I stay at these static caravans sites I don't trust the cleanliness of them or what might be hiding in the mattress. There are some dirty people around.

Has anybody been to the all hallows site along the Kent coast? If so what are your thoughts?
For the cheapest Haven site prices, book direct with the site not, the company.
Used to have a couple of breaks each year when the kids were small oh, and don’t go mid summer when it is expensive.
The “all action” sites are the most expensive, the smaller family sites are good enough and all have swimming pools.
@stevenmoran4060 Thanks for the tips Steven. We used to book direct with the site when our kids were young, but I didn't know you could still do that. I will look into it 👍
Loverly for a savers caravan
@@stephaniemurphy3443 All of the Saver caravans we have stayed in recently have been nice
I want this holiday just my self and little son o yes
@@sarahmore4146 You can get some really good deals if you can go outside of the school holidays
I've visited haven camps a few times ,never any problems ,only thing I could say is the beds could have been better made
I agree, but I would rather have a clean caravan than a perfectly made bed. The cleaners don't get much time to clean the caravans and generally do a great job.
Looks better and cheaper than camping
@@malcwhite We have stayed in several Haven caravans recently, and they have all been good
We had a caravan at Park Dean holiday park Carmarthen Bay site
in June.
When we got to our designated caravan there was a really awful smell outside the van.
Guess what ……. It was only right next to a sewage works.
The stench had permeated all through the Caravan, we went to reception to complain and were told
“ well nobody else has complained!!!! and there were no alternative vans available.
@@BigTedsTravel It’s a nice site but if you do go there make sure before hand you don’t get placed
next to the sewage works!
Honestly it was awful 😢
South coast haven are usually the biggest tips…never known so many parks to have so much security because of fighting.that was the one and only time we decided to stay British! Fuck that,3 weeks after then canary isles.
If it’s clean and moderately comfortable, I don’t see what the problem is.
@@Whippy99 We've stayed in several saver caravans this year, and they have all been clean and comfortable 🙂
I deliver food there from Penzance (11 miles away) still waiting for my first tip😅 but hey ho if I was to be living of tips per week I wouldn’t be able to buy a child’s portion of fish’n’chips 😂😂😂
😂
That isn't St Ives to the right! It's Godrevy lighthouse and Gwithian. St Ives is round to the left
Where did you drive from to make it an 8 hour journey?
The Wirral
The cleaners could of done better with the pillows
To be fair, when you see how quickly they have to work, the cleaners do a great job.
I know what you mean about the cleaners I work for Haven in Hopton on sea in Norfolk
@alanshelly7068 My wife's best friend comes from Lowestoft. Used to love winding her dad up by asking if he'd always lived in Norfolk.
@@BigTedsTravel I work as a cleaner it takes seconds to put a pillow straight
Call that a saver van? I call it luxury!
We were very pleased with it 😀
Same size as an average British house but it doesn't look like you can wash your face in those sinks.
The sink in the en-suite was small, but the one in the shower room was fine.
That's not GRIM ... we did camping ( in COLD rain ) .. a MOD childhood experience ( Ha - Ha ) .. DAVE™🛑
@@davidfalconer8913 Camping in the rain is character building Dave 😁
We and the family have been to many many of Haven sites. Only once have had 1 issue with the van. And many times we have been upgraded. 👍
Nothing wrong with that clean tidy why Grim
I agree, the caravan was very nice, but would you have watched the video if it was called 'How nice is a Haven Saver caravan'? My videos on Bronze and Silver caravans have much lower viewing figures than this video 🤷♂️
@@BigTedsTravel well my aunt when alive had a few holidays in caravans when the sun had cheap caravan holiday tokens in the sun news paper a few years ago never had a bad one had a great time
@DeanTalik That's nice, I'm glad your aunt enjoyed her caravan holidays.
Turned up with 2 small children to find an uncleaned caravan with two huge pools of sick on the floor. They begrudgingly moved us to another....next to the race track! NEVER again!
@@JamieW-o7b That's terrible. Which site was it at?
@@BigTedsTravel Near Yarmouth, Caister I think. It was some years ago.
@user-nx8ii4ef7f Thanks Jamie. I'll give that place a miss then 👍
If it was next to a race track, that was Seashore.
Not grim at all, in my experience. A perfectly fine base from which to explore your surroundings.
As a base, I think these caravans are excellent value
Stopped in one last year and we thought it was great for the money
You can get some great deals if you are flexible
Looks more like a bronze
It was actually nicer than a bronze we stayed in at another site.
Dishwasher in a saver!!!!!!! I have had never had a dishwasher in a saver and have been many times
We've stayed in Silver and Bronze caravans as well as several savers, but this was the only time we've had a dishwasher
Absolutely nothing wrong with the caravan. Somthing to think about
We have stayed in several Haven caravans recently, and they have all been very nice
@Azureecosse I can see why you might want to do this, but we haven't had an issue with the cleanliness of the caravans.
Big Teds Travel,,,,,, yes we have a chalet on the Towens overlooking Carbis Bay ,,from St Ives to Godrevy The Bucket of Blood to popular can never get a seat and im for ever bumping my head on those low beams "gaffa sits on high bar stool edge of bar" great meals there " we book a table ,best to when kids are on school holidays Bluff is convenient shot walk 2mins,,, door to door,,,,Ed
