I love Kendalls slow progression to a killer in this season. He didn’t flip the switch instantly but since Logan died but he’s slowly gotten more capable and confident in himself. He’s holding his own more and more in each conversation he has with Mattson.

yeah the truth that’s being revealed is that ken was being limited by logan because logan knew that ken had it in him. ken was logan’s true competition, and that’s why he was the most vicious to him. without logan, ken can actually implement the good ideas he has - which he has been made to doubt by everyone around him (who all suck the balls and worship the memory of logan).

Logan prepared Ken for this. I love watching Kendall support both of his siblings. (Especially his reaction to Roman firing 2 head honchos) and accepting when Roman told him he wasn’t going to take the stage.

Yeah. I'm starting to wonder wether his dad didn't half "push him overboard" in the end of S2 in order to force him to mature and grow up. Because in S1 he really was an immature overgrown kid playing chief. Especially after seeing how well Kendall had done during the hearings. Maybe he thought there was something to be harnessed there that would only reveal itself in extreme tough "on your own" situations.
The ennd of Ep4 this season was a paradigm shift for this character.

@@dennisgichohi5392 i think it's more nuanced than that on Kendall's part, this time unlike in the past he's not intentionally trying to be Logan, he operates differently than Logan, see how he got the projections to be exaggerated, didn't have to threaten anyone and he's not fired anyone, unlike Roman who is actively trying to be his father. In season 3 Kendall came to face fact that he can't be his dad, Obviously we see him looking more and more like his dad but the tragic part is that THIS TIME he isn't trying to be his dad, he's just being more ruthless and "making his own reality".
TLDR, he's not trying to be his dad, he's becoming his dad and this will not end well but man it's kinda cathartic no?

Mattson might be a “killer” and he’s obviously smart, but the revelation that he’s not a real coder paired with the missteps he’s made in recent episodes show that he’s really not quite the unbeatable genius psychopath that season 3 made him out to be. Despite being a shrewd businessman, the revelation that he took someone else’s innovation and brought it to market suggests that quite a lot of his success is attributable to basic charisma and luck. Confidence X Good Looks X Being in the right place at the right time X Sheer ruthlessness is more than likely the success formula that made him what he is.
His behaviour isn’t typical of a “tortured brilliant mind” but of someone who wants to project that exact image to the world. His choice of outfit in this episode actually reflects more of an insecure desire to stand out as unique rather than the classic misanthropic desire to shun conformity and be left alone. That’s a designer jacket that probably costs thousands of dollars, that’s not an anti-social intellectual, that’s a man seeking attention and approval.
His holocaust joke on Twitter (WHICH HE RETRACTED UNDER PRESSURE) and his “your numbers are gay” comment pretty much confirmed for me how vapid he is. Those are jokes that a pre-teen makes, not a serious self-made businessman. His immaturity and impulsiveness combined with his sense of entitlement show that at the end of the day, he’s really just another incredibly lucky “entrepreneur” suffering from an unearned sense of accomplishment, which itself is just the outer layer of what is probably just repressed imposter syndrome.
Ironically Kendall, who most will see as the classic rich kid with everything handed to him has worked INCREDIBLY hard and suffered greatly to try to follow in his father’s footsteps. He’s had to develop a razor sharp business acumen and unlike Mattson he’s developed to the point where he doesn’t let his emotions control his behaviour. He knows what’s at stake and how his every word and action can be used against him.
Some people might view this as an even back and forth, but if you really zone in on the dialogue here, Kendall DESTROYED Mattson. He had a calm, clever retort to everything Mattson said and in the end, the “genius coder” had nothing left but a gay joke before he passive aggressively hugged his enemy and ran away with his entourage to most likely drown his defeat in drugs.
If Living+ showed us anything, the days of Kendall stepping on his own dick might very well be behind him. There’s no guarantees, but after everything he’s been through, he might have very well turned into the smooth operator he only showed us glimpses of in the first three seasons.

At first they were out of focus in the background and before I even knew they would be pulled into the scene I thought it was an oversight by the actors, who maybe just got told to chat in the background as out-of-focus set dressing. I don’t think He’s going to fail because the only reason why he didn’t peak before, was because of his father that did everything he could to undermine him.
Logan was hardly ever a real guy, either. His kids want his power but I get the sense none of them are quite willing to throw all of themselves at it the way he did (“and that’s a good thing”, as per Nate). You could tell Logan’s entire life was the pursuit of power.
I think the three kids want to live in some fantasy lnd where they have that same awesome power of their father but they’re still their own individual selves, and at this point it just stands to be seen whether they’ll succeed at sacrificing theirselves entirely for the power.

Probably I am going to be wrong but I think Mattson (and his team) are playing with the Roys. All the blood thing, the India’s numbers, the weird behavior of Matsson pretending to be some weirdo talking too much, is like too obvious to be “real”. It’s like he wants them to believe he has no control over the situation.
I know what you mean - when he mentioned the blood thing a few episodes ago I remember thinking that if this wasn’t Succession, then that’s a wacky-ass story that Shiv is an absolute fool for taking seriously.
However, since Succession can dip into the surreal and unbelievable sometimes, I’m on the fence about whether it’s “totally unbelievable” or “believable within the show.” Shiv’s own husband used his employees as furniture and regularly abused Greg, after all.
Ive been thinking the same, but also it would totally line up with him wanting to close the deal fast and how he kept pushing and adding more money despite being such a terrible deal if he doesnt get what he wants, if hes truly fluffing his numbers and being a sex creep then it would make sense to buy and merge with Royco so his company doesnt tank anything thats coming from them
He also would probably end up pinning the inflated numbers to Roy's subsidaries if it ever came to light, cleaning his own hands
