There's no coincidence that Paul McCartney recorded this with George Michael. This is a song that Paul said that he wished he had written. Enough said.
This is such a very underarted amazing song off one of my favorite George Michael albums. Listen Without Prejudice is a masterpiece. Try "Waiting For That Day", "Something To Save" and "They Won't Go When I Go"...really the whole album is amazing!!
I tried VERY hard to narrow this down...lol.

this is genuinely one of my favourite george songs..
I saw him perform in Los Angeles in 91 what an AMAZING CONCERT. GEORGE IS THE BEST. WAIT FOR THE ENTIRE CATALOGUE OF MUSIC HE HAS.

Listen Without Prejudice is a masterpiece of an album! Flawless, from beginning to end! It's chock full of HUGE, number 1 hits but every single song is incredible! Except for one song, he wrote every track. He also produced and arranged all the music himself. He even played virtually all the instruments and of course, he sang it to perfection! This is one of my favourite songs from that album So uplifting! :)
There is also a version of this song as a duet with Paul McCartney which was recorded about 20 years later.
I'm surprised you chose this rather unknown song. You should definitely listen to One More Try as a Gospel Live version. I also recommend listening to Jesus To A Child and Spinning The Wheel.
