  • Watch as we take a close look inside the long decaying ghost town of Capa, South Dakota, getting a peak into old western prairie history. Capa's located in Central South Dakota and was once home to hundreds of people and several flourishing plains businesses. It's full of the historic remnants from its once active community.

A correction: my grandfather was Diamond Joe Thorne and Edwin was his brother. Also buried in the cemetery are his other brother Rufus and his wife Lydia. Thank you for taking us on a tour of what is left of Capa. Diamond Joe had the school built to educate his children….some of them are in the vintage picture of the school house. Diamond Joes cattle ranch was the largest west of the Mississippi.

Yes, Henry was Philip’s father. Philip is my late father’s first cousin, so my first cousin, once removed. As of July 2024, I do not know whether Philip is still living. I do believe that his mother or grandmother was Postmistress of Capa at one time.

Nice pictures, but you need to work on the narrative. Feed the mind and the eyes, that's how to make a great video. More information.
