    This helmet is a life saver, been riding onehweel for about 8 months now, had a few great falls, including shattering my left wrist, I needed a great helmet for greater falls, this helmet saved my life on many occasions, especially due to pot holes and other stuff the roads and trails throw at me, already had my helmet replaced for free from accident repair, the adjustment flexibility of this helmet makes its 100%.

    Thanks for doing these gear reviews, they are helpful. I like the design of this helmet; the lights are a great addition. I just wish they offered that 'neon yellow' color (same as the vests) for increased visibility to vehicles. I also think the color keeps the helmet cooler compared to my previous dark helmets.

    UPDATED REVIEW OF XNITO LOGAN HELMET: I love it!! The visor does a really good job of blocking the blinding sun on early morning and late afternoon rides. Also, the way the visor is designed, with the extra padding, it does a great job of keeping sweat out of my eyes. I ride mostly down here in very hot and humid Houston and it 100% of the time keeps the sweat from burning my eyes!!!! Even though this helmet has smaller and less air slots, it doesn't seem to be hotter than my other helmet, which has quite a few air slots.

      @Derek xPaPaDx Frampton Protection efficiency goes beyond the physical barrier that a helmet represents. There's also psychological & sociocultural aspects that are worth considering. If you have the time, consider watching The Guardian's video: Should you wear a bike helmet?

    • @Andythecreature
      @Andythecreature ปีที่แล้ว

      @Derek xPaPaDx Frampton The video talks about the aforementioned psychological & sociocultural aspects of cycling safety. The subconscious effects of wearing a helmet, behavior changes in driver/cyclist interactions when a helmet is worn by the latter & what other external factors play a role in overall safety; are all showcased in the 6 minutes & 13 seconds long video.
      In short, i like to bring nuance into discussions & it seems to me like we (all 4 participants of this thread) could benefit from a broader evaluation of the subject.

I love the lights from a visibility standpoint....if you crash and you are down, cars and other bikers will be able to see where your head is at and avoid hitting you! Great helmet. We chose the Sena M1’s for the intercom feature(we can go almost a half mile and still have intercom). They have similar extended coverage on the sides and back which is helpful on the trail for low hanging branches

    You should do a video on why regular bicycle has no speed limits, and they limit the level 2 e-bike to 20 miles a hour. They should just make a standard speed limit for all bikes.

      I don’t know how horseback riding helmets are made, but I have learned a lot about helmets from my correspondence with Xnito. I am pretty much convinced that a helmet designed for 28 mph is worth the money. After I saw that clip with a comparison of their helmet to a standard helmet with MIPS, it pretty much convinced me that with the speeds I ride, I was better off with a helmet designed for safety up to 28 mph.

    I'm curious how the helmet protects against rotational deceleration damage like MIPS does. MIPS does this by having a slip-plane, but how does the Xnito do this without a slip-plane? I'm also wondering how well it does in low speed crashes -- both high speed and low speed crash protection are important (have you ever seen someone tip over on their bike at low speed)? I asked Xnito about this but I didn't get a clear answer from them. I think it could be a good helmet if it provides these protections.

    This looks like a great product. Thanks for letting us know about it (and providing a discount). It looks like you've dropped down to one mirror from two. I ride for the exercise and the mental state I get into while I'm out on a bike, and while I know mirrors are great for safety, riding with them usually undermines that mental state for me - there's always something popping up in my mirror that takes my concentration. I think at the speeds you ride, a left mirror is an absolute necessity. I'm getting by pretty well at the 12 mph or so I can manage to pedal without a mirror. Do you have any thoughts about mirror use on a standard bike?

    • @RussIsRight

This is totally different from the eyeglass mounted mirror I had used in the past, which was always high up in my field of vision. Gotta say that I suspect hustling bike helmets is a real good racket to be in these days. Anyway, Freetown Gear bike helmet with MIPS and 5-LED rear safety light. At Costco. 3 colors. Adjustable hat size. $42.99 (delivered), with the can't-be-beat Costco return guarantee that does not depend on the Xnito's definition of an "accident." Just saying (fwiw I have one coming next week).

    • @RussIsRight
      @RussIsRight  ปีที่แล้ว

      The Costco helmet has Mips, but isn't built to the standards as the Xnito, but sure, it's cheaper than the Xnito. As for whether reviewing a helmet in exchange for a helmet is considered a hustle, I guess you haven't made a video review before. It takes time to make these videos. For that, I get a helmet in payment for it. But I will be using the product going forward as I believe it is a good product for my safety. If I didn't think it had merit, I wouldn't even take it on as a product to review. You would not believe how many other products (including free ebikes) I have turned down.

      Yes, there are more ebike reviews coming, that's for sure. Companies are reaching out to me. But some just don't seem worth reviewing. I figure if I'm not impressed by it, who else will be? So yeah, my reviews will likely be a bit more positive than negative because I'll only consider doing a review of bikes that might have some value to someone. If I took on the other bikes that I didn't think had any merit, those reviews would likely just be really negative reviews. I don't want to waste time on those kinds of products. It wouldn't help me, you or even the company offering the product. I just turn those away (nicely of course).

      The helmet has a front and rear light built into the helmet. It's not bright enough to light up your entire path though... it is for visibility to cars and others on the path. For that, it is fine. As for ear flaps... they have an accessory you can add to do that. Here it is: xnito.com/products/winter-kit

      @@RussIsRight- well, you certainly are quick. One note, I did not see any sizing, so sent them an email. I'm sure the built-in adjustment will be fine but I am a smaller, but fully grown-up female, so I asked.

      @RussIsRight  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, doesn't hurt to send them the measurement. I have sent them an email asking about the size issue. But the way you did it by email might be the best way to let them know at this point.

      RUSS, thank you so kindly. I used your link that's probably how they knew. And I did send them an email but I'm a nurse that has crazy hours so on weekends, am working at 5:00 a.m. so sometimes that causes me to take a nap after work. 😉 I didn't see the email yet. I'm looking right now thank you again. You are so considerate. 👍

    does the visor easily flip up and out of the way like the berns?

    In the eu you can't sell a helmet as a safe helmet without mips.. So it became standard. As it should be!

      @@RussIsRight I did see some other reviews of the helmet. They do claim it is remarkably light and cool for the beefy construction! My new e-bike coming will be a 28mph bike, so I am seriously considering this helmet. A visor is a must for me these days. It really helps keep the sun out of your eyes and improve visibility. Thanks for sharing this, I probably would have never known about this helmet if it wasn't for this video. Good job Russ!!! AND $135 is NOT really expensive for a helmet of this quality.

    • @RussIsRight

      I really like this visor. It sticks out further than my old helmet’s visor. Essentially it is like a baseball cap visor on a helmet! Works just fine in blocking out the sun in my eyes. 😎
