I've got tight hip flexors .
I've been wondering why I stop training in the gym and doing cardio .
My physio told me it's because my brain is sending signals to my muscles to protect them .
Therefore my body is in protection mode and doesn't want to exercise .
The more I stretch the more I want to lift weights and run again .
Thankyou so much for your invaluable videos!

Thank you! I suspect I have a problem with my hip flexors. I don't know if you take video requests (I'm sure you get plenty!) but I wondered if you could tackle pain when lifting the leg into and out of the car/bed.... And lifting a single leg up when laying flat on the floor (I struggle to lift my left leg at all). Thank you for your amazing work, you're educating me every day! 💕

I'm 73, I sit a lot, therefore, I have tight hip flexors. I cannot get down on the floor (or back up again, lol!) This is what I do to stretch my HF's: I stand so that I can hold onto something - a chair, the kitchen counter, whatever. (If you're younger, you may not need to hold onto anything!) (1.) Keeping the upper body vertical, bring one foot back. (Let's say it's your right foot). Your right heel probably will not touch the floor. (Guys, its the position you're getting into when you're about to propose to your girlfriend!) (2) Now, bend both knees slightly, until you feel a stretch in your right HF. Just hold the position (I find it helpful to hold for 20-30 seconds). Then switch to the other side. Hope this helps those of you who cannot get down on the floor. Stay healthy!

Right before I watched this video, I immediately guessed that you should stretch right hip flexors. Stretching can help to promote flexibility but also, physiologically, we’re talking about aligning the collagen fibers in place.

Bob and Brad, I know this video is from 2 years ago, but I hope you see this question🤞 When I walk, sometimes my right quadricep feels like it is being squeezed intensely. It gets so tight, I have to stop for a moment. Is this happening due to my hip flexor? Would these stretches help with that tightness? Thank you!
