I was in Freelance on Gone Fission and I found a high level player using the technique with the Hydra. It's not as efficient but I saw him doing it so I covered him while he did it. Still kinda worth it as it gets you free eggs. Shoutouts to m if you're out there.
That's essentially what we used to do with Stingray in 2, and it is also possible in both 2 and 3 on Marooner's Bay low tide. Jet and Bamboozler are perfect for this, but in a pinch Rapid Pro and Ballpoint Splatling will do too. I think on Sockeye you should also be able to do it with Squeezer and Stamper.
I was gonna say “90 eggs in a shift? That’s not too much.” But no, 90 eggs in *ONE WAVE???* Edit: the flying salmonids are called chinooks because chinook is the name of a breed of salmon as well as the name of the Boeing Chinook Military Freight *Helicopter*
While this has been patched out with 0 Eggs in the Basket - the strat still works if you put in around 6-7 eggs and still very much worth doing it if you can!
Tried this in Big Run and on Sockeye after and found that rapid pro is also very effective with this strategy and you can just hold ZR and the timing is perfect👌 I haven’t tried this yet, but I’ve theorized that this strategy could be possible on the tallest platform across the gap on Spawning Grounds and on the second level of Hydro-Fission with good positioning.
I feel like this strategy will adversely affect future Big Run scores. Unless they disable mothership or adjust its behavior in Big Run, I am not too psyched about it. The ridiculously high scores this method achieves will further widen the gap between the top 50, 20, and 5 percent of players in Big Run. Skill and cooperation should be rewarded, but this is by far an oversight in programming mechanics and npc behavior. Not every weapon rotation (especially since each wave will have a random set of weapons) will enable this strategy, which is okay, but on the off-chance that the stars align, the final Big Run score will skew unfairly by the players that are in the know and grind for the best RNG. I can imagine that not every stage can take advantage of this strategy like you can on Sockeye Station. Although unlikely, I hope they address this oversight of the mothership for Big Run. The developers will most likely just ignore the whole thing as the map, event (mothership), player coordination and weapons combined have an extremely small chance of simultaneously occurring to fully take advantage of this strategy. Just my opinion on the matter.
There are so many games that get played during Big Run. I doubt this will happen often enough to have any statistical significance. This is only for coordinated pre-made teams that get the right RNG.
Oh dear, you're right. My team of low EVP's and a Profresh +3 managed to get 52 eggs on a Mothership wave during Big Run. Without that I never would have gotteny high score of 122. Now I'm scared for the next Big Run....
You answered near the end, but now I know how one can do it without having to worry about lesser salmonids going for the jet squelcher while using this strategy
2:53 THERE I AM BOYS I AM THERE WOOOOOOOOO! But in all seriousness now I'm glad I got to help with this and before I go I wanted to ask this while I was there but never got the chance but does this work with Duelie Squelchers or not?
Hey haz i feel like this strat would be more essential in big run because of overfishing, with that in mind is the jet squelcher/crab tank the only ways to do it? Because what if the rotation for all big runs are randomized? If you could test out other weapons that would be awesome!
... ...I always wondered why this was never done in Splatoon 2? I mean yeah, we learned to Sting Ray just above the Mothership to milk a bunch of eggs, but it always got knocked away soon afterwards. I always thought to myself "Why even bother damaging the ship at all? Just let it suck on the basket and use BOTH Sting Ray specials to milk as many eggs out as possible!" This is pretty much _that_ idea in execution. Too bad it's pretty much like Mudmouths where you need an Explosher to really exploit the wave to its best potential.
I really hope no one try this in freelance, theres too many variable unknown that can really screw a run. I still see people doing the wall hug strat on glowflies, and splatting scrapper near the shore on pro part timer. One thing I wonder though, would explosher/blobobber works.
I think I got 78 or something in one round during big run. I wonder if my team was doing this. It’s impossible to do these things in freelance so I’ll probably never be able to do it but it’s still cool.
my questions are thus: 1. How did no one find this in Splat 2? 2. is it possible in Splat 2? (i realize that even if it is, theres no point to doing it, because... i mean... come on)
You know what would be funny, if notably more people in freelance started doing this on every mothership but still splat bosses at the shore.

God I miss a good Stingray on a Mothership round 😭 That was always satisfying.

In S2, stingray did this really well, but never thought about trying to shoot them in S3...great video!
You rule hazmy, high effort content every time
If you're playing with randoms, you could probably get an extra 2-3 eggs.

This strategy is so smart I'm actually shocked😮

This is so awesome! Love the breakdown of the high-level strategy. Plus it's just a funny strat I'll need to try it sometime
This going to be stupid busted once the next big run comes around. I am scared but also so excited to see overfishers using this strategy.

That's such a funny little exploit, thank you for showcasing it even if it's a niche situation to be able to use it
You say “team” like it is a piece of cake to find one!
It is !
There plenty of Discord community around Splatoon and Salmon Run.
You answered near the end, but now I know how one can do it without having to worry about lesser salmonids going for the jet squelcher while using this strategy
this looks super fun! i wish i had an actual team i only have 2 friends i play salmon run with and we have to freelance to get our last player
I can imagine that tapshots with Sqeezer also works. And Rapid Blaster Pro
Just when I thought I couldn’t possibly learn yet another cool Salmon Run trick..

Looks like a lot of fun! Galaxy brain idea!

Next patch: you can now go into debt during salmon run
Hells yeah 👍
all I can really say is *GOD DAMN*, Hardcore salmon run players are so creative
It sucks that I only got to watch this 1 month after it came out.
Interesting~

Wall Hug on pro part timer is completely viable strat though!

Imagine if they discovered this in Big Run
Dang that's SOO OP
Oh but, don't forget the Snatchers.
you can use Crab Tank, Killer Wail 5.0 to defeat him to give you extra time on Moethership
Knowing Nintendo they are going to patch this trick out. Take advantage of this while it lasts.
I really miss the stingray special.
Would splattershot pro work on this?
This is beautiful.
Do you have a code for the wave at 1:01?
ive seen someone doing it with an ink jet
You can use crab tank
BRILLIANT!!!
Ain't no way I can do this in freelance. But I will remember this technique!
I bet Nintendo was wondering how long it would take us to figure this out
how can i stream videos to my teammates
This trick is amazing! Sadly i dont have another 3 friends to do it :/
I hope it doesn't get patched lol
Does this only work on Sockeye?
maybe on low tide for marooner's bay? just a guess
@@DLCMan1218 Wait, can you even get Mothership on low tide?
@@ArmorOfGod7 yes
Scenario code?
Holy shit
wasnt this patched?
It's nerfed a bit but still works
my questions are thus:
1. How did no one find this in Splat 2?
2. is it possible in Splat 2? (i realize that even if it is, theres no point to doing it, because... i mean... come on)
