    This really should be one of the most viewed videos on safe CMV driving on TH-cam. It's a not-to-be-missed instructional item for CMV operators - if you're safety-inclined, that is.

    Thank you for this great lesson. I am a former driver and now I teach new 4 wheelers to drive and we will be using this to get it in their heads what I have been trying to teach them. I had some instructors telling them to slam on the brakes if they get a yellow light on a state route. They didn’t know about the solid white lines before lights that they are a timer for how long it will take before it is red. I have been trying to get the students to understand how big rigs take longer to stop and the lines help truckers know the point of no return on stale green light.

    I'm Canadian, but this is the absolutely, most fantastic video I have ever seen explaining stopping distances. Every, single driving program should include this video. I don't care what license class you are taking. (FYI, I drove truck where no sane person drives for over 10 years.)

    This video teaches a lot more in terms of stopping distance in a tractor trailer and it makes a lot of sense.

    Thank you so much Mr. Gibson. Its impossible to find the information that empty trucks take longer to stop. You cant tell it to the new generation without getting an unreasonable response.

    problem is when you try to keep a safe distant as many cars that can squeeze into the safe distance will do it at every on ramp and off ramp even if they have to slam on their brakes trying not to hit the car in front of them cause they believe they have the right to cut people off and dont care about anyone behind them

      Example ? Do you not believe trees are killing a lot of people in South Carolina ?

    • @bigkw
      @bigkw 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Robert, enlighten me. I drove over the road and local. Never had a wreck. Everything that man said was spot on. I can't guarantee that trees didn't kill people, I can guarantee a jack-knife is a violent collision between cab and trailer. That can kill you in and of itself. I'm not saying drivers get distracted. I'm not saying that these newer drivers aren't being trained properly. I will tell you, people in cars don't understand how deadly it can be and usually is, tangling with a semi. True professional truck drivers aren't some back woods cowboys that want to take out a car. Absolutely false. They would do anything in the world to avoid a collision with you, them or it. They, just like you, want to get to where they're going, safely and calmly.

      That is an excellent, informative and common sense video. Every person with CDL needs to see this. 👍🏻👍🏻 I will never complain again about the Adaptive Cruise keeping me 350 ft off the vehicle in front of me. It is what it is.

      @@gptruckingcompany5679 Exactly, a driver drove his car infront of a truck WRONGFULLY they always blame the truck drive no matter what. All in the small car killed 2 kids. 2 30 year olds. Their car was turned into a pancake. It was a nissan maruoed. It was near Hooper Ne. U.S.A
