I see I'm the first comment, so I'll explain for the nons if they come across this. Lancelot became berserker because of Artoria. He killed two of the Knights of the Round Table, Gareth and Gaheris, to escape with Guinevere, the queen, since their affair was exposed and she to be executed. Artoria knew about it and Lancelot fully expected to be punished, but Artoria sent him a letter saying she understood why he did what he did. This drove him mad because he sought his punishment, not forgiveness. Also contributing to that was the Battle of Camlann. Lancelot was still so fiercely loyal, but was not allowed to help because of Gawainn being angered at the murder of his siblings and the fracture of the table. Upon hearing of Artoria's death, he sunk even deeper into madness. And thus, berserker lancelot.
