It was twofold. 1) Seig had absorbed Frankenstein's Galvanization earlier. 2) Seig, being a homonculus, meant he had a huge mana reserve. He would've lost against Karna regardless, but those 2 buffs gave him enough time to hold off Vasivi Shakti long enough for Astolfo to save the day

The reason he could keep up with Karna is because he had galvanization, which takes mana and other energies from the environment and converts them into prana. Which enables him to spam Balmung. Even someone like Richard was able to push Gilgamesh because he had a ton of prana. He is actually stronger than seigfried in this form since servant seigfried doesn't have a proper mana core like his alive self.
So… I actually decided to read into the lore a bit and uh… Believe it or not, actual Siegfried’s Balmung is not only more powerful than Sieg’s command spell and Galvanism combo, he can rapid fire it *even faster.* This is due to him having a Dragon Core. However as a Servant, the Dragon Core is heavily deteriorated. In other words, both Karna and Siegfried’s true powers get nerfed as Servants…

Nothing new, Servants are nerfed versions of the heroes usually. The fact that they get "narrowed down" to a single class, limiting them to what fits that class is enough of a tell.
For everyone that says "Sieg had plot armor", it was probably Alaya helping because that timeline would have gone kaput if Sieg didn't carry the Greater Holy Grail to the reverse side of the world. (at least that is my opinion, there are probably alternative explanations and honestly saying that he has plot armor is a valid explanation too)

In lore, to win in the final battle of the epic Mahabharata, in which the god of gods took part in humanly form, had to plan and plot to somehow get rid of karna's armor, so he sent a god which took the form of Sun God (Karna's father) who asked Karna to gift his armor. Karna, even knowing that it would result in his death, stripped off his flesh with a KNIFE, yes a f@cking knife, and thus in the final battle was killed by Arjuna( his brother). and even then, he didn't die while fighting, his chariot got stuck which the god of gods created, so he was pulling out the wheel of his chariot, then the god told Arjuna to shoot Karna, even when killing someone who is not on his chariot was not allowed, in that particular battle, but god of gods knew, that karna, even without his armor and his knowledge of archery (Karna was an archer, not lancer) as Karna was cursed by his own master, that he will forget all his teachings when he will need it the most, was trouble, so he killed Karna.

Last time I checked, Siegfried isn't a demigod, nor is Balmung a god-killing weapon. It is a Holy and Demonic sword yes, but not Anti-Divine.
