Great review once again! I’ve been looking for a zoom some time now to upgrade from the 55-210 on my A6400. Today I got the Tamron 70-300 (also saw your review on it). I managed to get it new for only €379. Will extensively compare it to the 55-210! Thanks again for the reviews!
Thank you very much for your comment 🙏 and congratulation for your new lens. This is a very good lens for a very good price. You will have a lot of fun with it. 😉
@@dawa5581 Thanks! Unfortunately I already returned it 😀 I did some testing and noticed the lack of OSS is a real disadvantage (especially at 300mm/450mm). Also the sharpness (wide open) was a bit of a let down. I extensively compared it to my 55-210 and noticed that if I stop down the latter to F11 I get a tack sharp image. Much better than the Tamron wide-open (obviously). I don't shoot raw, but if I then adjust the in-camera Picture Profile to +2 contrast and +2 sharpness, the results I am getting are absolutely amazing. Plus the 55-210 has OSS which is in my opinion indispensable. I'll reinvest the money from the zoom in something more usable like the Sigma 30mm F1.4
@@yellahbe oh, I didn’t compare these two lenses yet, but my Tamron copy was very sharp. Nevertheless, Tamron has really big quality control issues. I have made also a video about it with dramatically result. This is something that Tamron has to fix immediately. It’s like a lottery win if you get a good or bad copy of a Tamron lens.
@@dawa5581 Oh, I wasn't aware of that. In my testing (wide-open) I was really underwhelmed of the sharpness of the Tamron lens. Yes it was that bad. But I might have got a bad copy. That's too bad. Good to know for future purchases.
Unfortunately i’ve sold the Tamron 70-180 lens one year ago. But the Tamron lens was sharper and lighter than the Sony lens. Between both lenses I would definitely take the Tamron lens. I have also a comparison video about Sony 70-200 against Tamron 28-200. Maybe this video will change your mind 😉
The new version has an extendable barrel when zooming. This, the older version is internal zooming. Better in my opinion.
Thank you very much for your comment. 👍 The new one is better!

@@yellahbe no problem, you are welcome👍
Could you compare this one with Tamron 70-180mm f2.8 first gen? The two has similar price point both new and used.

Thanks for this review. This is still a good lens!
Thank you for your comment. You are welcome.
I like gen 1 more than gen 2. For me it's great, but I rarely use it
Thanks for your comment. It's still a good lens and you can still take great photos with it.
There are great deals for this lens now, almost half price of Gen 2 and new! :D
Thank you for your comment. That's right, you can buy the lens really cheaply right now.
Do u mean mm instead of cm? 3:39
@@jaychoco5819 sorry, you are absolutely right. It’s mm instead of cm.

Danke für deinen Kommentar und deine konstruktive Kritik. Ich werde es mir zu Herzen nehmen und dran feilen. 😉👍
