  • Cliffe Knechtle has a great conversation with college students at a campus in the southwest US.
The "Give Me An Answer" ministry began as an outgrowth of the dialogues Cliffe Knechtle has had with students on various university campuses throughout the United States. These universities include the University of Maine, Harvard, MIT, University of Florida, University of Texas, University of Wisconsin, University of Minnesota, University of California Los Angeles, University of California San Diego, Berkeley, Stanford, University of Hawaii and the University of Washington. Cliffe spoke on these campuses in front of the Student Union or Library at noon for five to ten minutes. At the close of his initial remarks, he'd open up the time for questions and answers, which usually turned into a two to four hour dialogue with students. His crowd size ranged from 25 - 500 students at a time, and between classes, new students would join the discussion. This is an extremely effective way to reach a large number of university students with the Gospel of Christ.

I love Cliffe's videos, but I have to say, this one might have been his worst. Cliffe let that guy spew pre-programmed lie after lie after lie, and never called him out on any of his lies. If I was an unbiased viewer looking for a faith, I might have actually leaned toward the young man's religion by the way he made it sound. Sometimes I think Cliffe is so concerned with being cordial, that he lets people get away with too much. I love the videos where Cliffe calls people out on their inconsistencies and shows them for the frauds they are. Those are the ones where Cliffe is most effective and powerful.

+Buddy Fisher I think Cliff did well to point out the inconsistencies of the Islamic faith and how unreliable it is compared to Christianity. This young man clearly had an agenda to confidently affirm and push the religion of Islam and Cliff of course picked up on that. People need to be handled differently, Cliff is not out to bash people with the Bible but rather help them understand the validity of Christ and how He (Jesus) should be considered as plausible. All the while doing this in Love. Remember the Word of God does not return void and He (God) gives the increase. Thank you Cliff for being a doer of the Word and not just a hearer only. It is easy for anyone of us to make armchair comments. I think if we have any negative comment we should first show videos of our public apologetics and go from there. I praise God for the good works of Cliffe Knechtle.

Even though the Muslim was very courteous, he is unfortunately largely mistaken about his conception of "peaceful" Muhammad, without even knowing it. Just goes to show how young Muslims are indoctrinated by their leaders in the mosques. What I mean by that is, the imams only emphasize Muhammad's good deeds without sharing the atrocious acts he committed.
And yes the Quran does allow wife-beating (Quran 4:34) at a last resort, and Muhammad did hit his wives, including Aisha (Sahih Muslim (4:2127)).

He was able to answer delicate questions. he also noticed how the conversation switched from being about Islam and to Isis and terrorism and all this, when this happens, you should always know that the conversation did not go according to plan for the Christian.

In one of your videos I heard you say if someone rose from the dead you should listen to them, they’re credible. That made me think about The book of revelation, when the beast rises from the dead & his wound is healed it makes a lot of people believe that he is god & they worship him. So with that in mind it would probably be a good Ideal not to be amazed if someone rose from the dead, seeing as it’s a sign for the beast & the false god.

Also, this well spoken man, was not showing any signs of sincere desire to convert. He did want to talk & was very civil. Sometimes, that is all you can expect, & other times that is more than most will give. I hope he converts, but he is fully able to choose as an adult.

I truly respect this gentleman. He is very respectful, intelligent and humble when he speaks with Cliff. I would disagree with the statement that he made, "That it does not say to abuse your wife in the Quran."
Quran (4:34) - "Men are the maintainers of women because Allah has made some of them to excel others and because they spend out of their property; the good women are therefore obedient, guarding the unseen as Allah has guarded; and (as to) those on whose part you fear desertion, admonish them, and leave them alone in the sleeping-places and beat them; then if they obey you, do not seek a way against them; surely Allah is High, Great." Contemporary translations sometimes water down the word 'beat', but it is the same one used in verse 8:12 and clearly means 'to strike'.
Quran (38:44) - "And take in your hand a green branch and beat her with it, and do not break your oath..." Allah telling Job to beat his wife (Tafsir).
In the Hadith and Sira, it is mentioned more often:
Sahih Bukhari (72:715) - A woman came to Muhammad and begged her to stop her husband from beating her. Her skin was bruised so badly that it is described as being "greener" than the green veil she was wearing. Muhammad did not admonish her husband, but instead ordered her to return to him and submit to his sexual desires.
Sahih Bukhari (72:715) - "Aisha said, 'I have not seen any woman suffering as much as the believing women'" Muhammad's own wife complained of the abuse that the women of her religion suffered relative to other women.
Sahih Muslim (4:2127) - Muhammad struck his favorite wife, Aisha, in the chest one evening when she left the house without his permission. Aisha narrates, "He struck me on the chest which caused me pain."
Sahih Muslim (9:3506) - Muhammad's fathers-in-law (Abu Bakr and Umar) amused him by slapping his wives (Aisha and Hafsa) for annoying him. According to the Hadith, the prophet of Islam laughed upon hearing this.
Abu Dawud (2141) - "Iyas bin ‘Abd Allah bin Abi Dhubab reported the Apostle of Allah (may peace be upon him) as saying: Do not beat Allah’s handmaidens, but when ‘Umar came to the Apostle of Allah (may peace be upon him) and said: Women have become emboldened towards their husbands, he (the Prophet) gave permission to beat them." At first, Muhammad forbade men from beating their wives, but he rescinded this once it was reported that women were becoming emboldened toward their husbands. Beatings in a Muslim marriage are sometimes necessary to keep women in their place.
Abu Dawud (2142) - "The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: A man will not be asked as to why he beat his wife."
Abu Dawud (2126) - "A man from the Ansar called Basrah said: 'I married a virgin woman in her veil. When I entered upon her, I found her pregnant. (I mentioned this to the Prophet).' The Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) said: 'She will get the dower, for you made her vagina lawful for you. The child will be your slave. When she has begotten (a child), flog her'" A Muslim thinks he is getting a virgin, then finds out that she is pregnant. Muhammad tells him to treat the woman as a sex slave and then flog her after she delivers the child.
Ibn Ishaq/Hisham 969 - Requires that a married woman be "put in a separate room and beaten lightly" if she "act in a sexual manner toward others." According to the Hadith, this can be for an offense as petty as merely being alone with a man to whom she is not related.
Kash-shaf (the revealer) of al-Zamkhshari (Vol. 1, p. 525) - [Muhammad said] "Hang up your scourge where your wife can see it"

I love your response on 9/11. However, I think if you look at the broader scope of it whether you call it radical Islam or terrorism, then you have to judge the motives behind it or judge accordingly? In saying that, I believe we can not be in denial about what Islam teaches Cliffe?
I have asked a few Muslims in my community, and all of them have a similar response when asked this:
*"How do you interpret your own Quran?"* or *"Is this a literal or figurative interpretation"*
Some refused to answer when asked them on certain passages of their quran? No answer, then simply Islam has no answer don't you think? The Holy Bible is very clear that Jesus is the answer. I can assure you many questions if not all have been answered by our living Jesus by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit and through his living vessels to go out into this world and spread the Gospel.
I think David Wood is very cut throat on the teachings of Muhammad and does not waver. Him and Sam Shamoud on Jesus or Mohammad are very sharp on the teachings of Islam. Similar to how Apostle Paul can rebuke someone like Matthew.

One more thing about Islam that you may want to point out is how, in 3:31-32 and 30:43-45 of the Qur'an, it says that Allah does not love unbelievers. Allah's love is contingent upon the belief or unbelief of the person, which shows that Muslims have a defective concept of God (in other words, on Islam, God is not all-loving). For another reference, William Lane Craig also makes this argument in his work.

+Kevin Watson Hi again Kevin, I'm taking that from what you are saying you believe the Christian God of the bible to be 'all loving'. You say Allah's love is contingent upon whether a person believes in Allah, .. well isn't the Christian Gods love also contingent upon whether I accept him? As you know, I reject him in the same way I reject all other deity claims. So, on that basis, according to Christianity what is my fate for not believing in a God without what I see as credible evidence? Do you believe God will be all loving to those who lack belief in him?. Obviously I'm talking about Hell, how can an 'all loving' God even create a place called Hell if he is 'all loving'? .. you used the phrase 'defective concept of God' in reference to the Islamic God, well, I'd use that same phrase to describe the Christian God. Any God that has a concept of hell, cannot be 'all loving' as I see it.

+bonnie43uk Hi Bonnie, first point you know God exists everyone does you just suppress the truth about him because you want to continue to live in your sin whatever it is. Hell is a place where Evil/Sin will ultimately dwell forever. If there is know Hell evil ultimately wins in the end. God loves everyone but not all people love God, and God wont force anyone into his presence for eternity, So you will end up with what you want in the end( A Godless life/Eternity) You know what Jesus Did for you and no other God did that NONE!. He's reliable with enough evidence to trust him with confidence that what he says is true. The bible says that your spiritually blind. Time is running out for you we are getting old and dont know if we have tomorrow. Stop spending so much time on these forums and take a moment to ask God if your real reveal yourself to me. You must be genuine and i promise he will make him known to you in some unique way i promise. Have a great night.

Alangiuroiu Hi Alan, thanks for your reply. Regarding your first point, you say "Everyone knows God exists, but they just suppress it because they want to sin". That's very presumptuous to say we all know God exists, I'd be quite interested to know how you know this for certain, and maybe more importantly how do you *know* that God exists?, how does he reveal himself to you personally? Regarding 'sin' what sins am I committing that you seem so sure about. I'm not aware of any wrongdoings that I am doing. I have done things in the past which I shouldn't have done, the last thing I can remember doing that got me into trouble was about 40 years ago, and I paid a heavy price for that in many ways, we learn from our mistakes and change our ways. Life is a learning process.
I don't spend that much time in these forums, certainly not as much as it may seem. I enjoy watching Cliffe's video's and his interaction with the students, I normally post a comment and answer a few replies, it doesn't take that much time out of my day, I lead a full and active life and have lots of other interests, I love sports..I can't play anymore due to various ailments and age catching up with me, but today, being Saturday, i will follow my soccer team Swindon Town FC, we have a big game against Coventry away from home, we are taking about 2,000 fans to cheer the team on.
But yes, I enjoy these chats about faith, it's an interesting subject for me. If it works for you, all well and good.

YHWH † behold The Hand Behold the Nail Don't worry. I am a Christian and have been for several years now.
bonnie43uk First, think about what you are arguing against and compare it to what I am arguing against. I'm arguing against the concept of God in Islam, based on verses from the Qur'an that say, verbatim, that God does not love unbelievers. You are not arguing against the Christian concept of God. By saying, "How can an all-loving God create a place like hell?" you are not attacking the Christian concept of God. You are arguing that the Christian concept of God is inconsistent with what the Bible affirms (i.e. that hell exists).
You ask if God's love is contingent upon whether you accept Him. Absolutely not. Here are some verses to consider:
John 3:16: "For God so loved *the world*, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life." The term "the world" is important here because it is a universal term that means, in this verse, all people. God loves all people, even sinners.
Romans 5:8: "But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us." Have you ever thought of that? Now, I know that you don't believe that Jesus rose from the dead, but that is not the point here. The point is that if He did, then He has done it *to save people while they were still sinners*. God's love doesn't come into doubt when He dies for people who don't even yet believe in Him. If Jesus really rose from the dead, then He has died and risen for you, too, no matter if you reject Him or not.
There are many other examples in the Bible, but the point is clear. The Christian God loves all people unconditionally, and this is not the concept of God in Islam.
So the point here is consistency. Now that we've established that the Bible teaches that God is all-loving, is this consistent with the idea of hell and punishment for one's sins? Here, another property of God emerges: justice. God is just, and as such, He punishes evil. Now remember that in the Judeo-Christian worldview, God does not punish us merely for the collection of finite sins that we commit. It is ultimately rejection of God that warrants our quarantine from Him. I agree with Alangiuroiu here; ultimately those who go to hell are where they want to be, separated from God. Some argue that this sin (rejection of God) is eternally punishable; I think that this is a good point. Another good point is that sins are still committed in hell. I think that it's safe to assume that there will be a tremendous and overwhelming hatred of God in hell. These people don't want God; why would God force them to be with Him?
Another point is that you have a faulty concept of hell. From my understanding, you think of hell as Dante's Inferno thinks of hell, as a place where sinners are eternally tortured. But this is not the biblical concept of hell. I'm sorry if you were raised with a fear of hell because of how it was taught to you. I understand that that fear can be deep and hard to escape from. I once feared hell, too. But it is not a cosmic torture chamber, and above all do not allow it to keep you from God Himself, who is the giver of life and source of all good in the world. That would be a tragic mistake to make.
Even you said in a previous conversation that separation from God doesn't sound like a bad thing. I think that you are dead wrong. If God exists, then He is the source of life, love, and all of the beauty and good in the world. To be separated from Him for eternity would be terrible. You will say that you reject Him on the basis of a lack of evidence. Fine. But remember what a slippery slope that can be. I agree with you that if there are good reasons to reject God's existence and a lack of good reasons to accept it, then you should reject His existence. But what if He does exist? Paul says in Romans 1 that because God's existence is evident, we are without excuse. Make sure that you are searching for evidence in an unbiased way and that you are serious in this search because it could determine where you spend eternity (if there is an afterlife, of course).
If God exists, then He has left us adequate evidence for His existence. This is the most important point that I can stress, and I'd love to talk about that evidence with you.

    • @bonnie43uk
      @bonnie43uk 8 ปีที่แล้ว

Kevin Watson Hi Kevin, ok, what do you consider to be the evidence for God?, I think we may have been over this before if you are going to present me with William Lane Craig's Cosmological argument we may grind to a halt because as I've mentioned to you, philosophical discussions about un-caused causes and prime movers are way beyond my level of understanding. Science doesn't currently know how the universe came into being as I understand it, but Craig asserts with certainty that it had to be the Christian God. I know it's something you are keen on, but I don't think the average person can cope with those kind of thoughts, I leave that to the likes of Craig and Sean Carroll.
Why doesn't God provide me with credible easily understandable evidence of his existence.? Proof of a miracle would do nicely, not necessarily for my benefit, but for the person being healed, I've given you the example of an amputee, God doesn't seem to heal amputees. Maybe that would be a good topic for discussion rather than complex Kalam cosmological arguments concerning the origins of the universe, which physicists are currently working on.
Or, if you are asserting that being separated from God would be, in your words 'terrible' and you are asserting that God is 'all loving' why would an all loving God be prepared to allow me to go to a terrible place?, If God has it within his power to prevent me from going to that terrible place, and for whatever reason, I end up there and he could have prevented it, then surely he is culpable. If I put myself in his shoes of being all loving and all knowing, then I would prevent anyone from being separated from me and going to a terrible place. I do also realize that 'putting myself in Gods shoes' may seem foolish, but I can only view God from my own perspective surely. If it seems logical to me that if God is all loving, I can't see how he can allow bad things to happen. But i know Craig's argument would be that we cannot know the mind of God, God may well see the bigger picture. In that case, God could justify any horror imaginable and we'd have to say "We cannot question God's ultimate purpose, for he can see the bigger picture", but that's not much comfort if you are being tortured in a concentration camp is it. I can easily see how many Jews lost all faith in God due to their hopeless dire situation, and if it turned out there *was* a God afterall, would their rejection of God in that hopeless situation be even more compounded by being sent to hell for losing faith in God as they were being gassed?. Now there's an interesting question. Or maybe it's a mute point because all Jews go to heaven because they are Gods chosen people. But that makes no sense to me as none of us get to say into what religion we will be born. Again, we go back to God being all loving, why would he favor one nation over another if he loves all of us equally? It takes me back to my question about Mohammad, why didn't God appear to him to leave him in no doubt that Christianity was true rather than Islam, then have Mohammad spread the word of Christ, that makes perfect sense to me. Why would God allow Mohammad to start a rival faith
As you said Kevin, you believe the Christian God loves all people unconditionally, unlike the the concept of God in Islam.. so God could have came to Mohammad as he did to Paul of Tarsus and converted Mohammad to Christianity instead of Islam. Imagine the bloodshed and hatred this could have prevented had Mohammad spread the word of Christianity. What is the logic of allowing Mohammad to begin a rival faith to Christianity?, if Gods purpose of revealing himself to Paul via a revelation was to spread the word of Jesus's salvation of mankind, then he could easily have done the same to Mohammad.. win/win situation as I see it for Christianity.
I seem to recall a few weeks ago you'd said you'd pray for me that I may find God. Has God given you any feedback or indication as to how it's going?, I've had nothing at this end. As I see it, this only confirms my suspicions that God probably doesn't exist. That is a serious question btw, I'm not being facetious, has God given you any kind of reply?, and if so, in what form did Gods reply come to you? I would be genuinely interested to know if, or how God has contacted you.

It's not been a delight Cliffe. The guy played you like a fiddle. He lied all the way through about everything. And he was prepared to lie too. Classical Christian, when things get tough, put the tail between your legs and stay quite. The guy lied about the treaty, he lied about Aisha, he lied about the family of his prophet, he lied about Jesus, he lied about his prophet's wives etc. It was hard to listen to. It makes your blood boils. At least you could have said that your historical account about his prophet was completely different than his account. You did not help the guy at all, he needed to hear the truth, you did not help the crowd to know the truth, you did not help the Christian cause. Jesus would have called the guy whitewash hypocrite! But you are probably harsh on a 16-years-old kid who plays Xbox all day, as I noticed in other videos. We love you Cliffe, but that's a no-no for me.

I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me. John 5:41-43
“I do not receive honor from men. 42 But I know you, that you do not have the love of God in you. 43 I have come in My Father’s name, and you do not receive Me; if another comes in his own name, him you will receive. John 5:19 Then answered Jesus and said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise.

At about 08:00 minutes Cliffe is talking about Mohammad and how Islam came into being ( about 500 years after Christ came and went), Mohammad claimed Jesus was merely a good teacher, but not God, why couldn't Jesus appear to Mohammad in much the same way he appeared to Paul of Tarsus, so that Mohammad would be left in no doubt whatsoever that Jesus was exactly who he said he was?, Instead of an opposing faith coming into being (Islam), surely it would have made perfect sense to use Mohammad as another apostle of Christ to spread the word of Christianity, rather than have 2 opposing faiths which have caused countless millions of deaths.

    • @bonnie43uk
      @bonnie43uk 8 ปีที่แล้ว

SeanKimStyle Absolutely not Sean, would it not make sense to you though for Christ to reveal himself to Mohammad ( maybe via a vision), to leave Mohammad in no doubt that Jesus was who he said he was ( the son of God), so that Mohammad could then spread the word of Christ throughout the Middle East, which in turn would have prevented all the bloodshed between the Christians and the Muslims over countless centuries. We're told that God knows everything, surely God would have known that Islam and Christianity would not be a good mix.
Are you saying that Christ not revealing himself to Mohammad has worked out well for mankind? Many people would say it's been a catastrophic disaster.

+bonnie43uk has man kind ever worked out from the beginning?

    • @bonnie43uk
      @bonnie43uk 8 ปีที่แล้ว

SeanKimStyle Good question Sean, mankind has been around in some form for millions of years, we don't know the exact date that homo sapiens came out of Africa, it was around 150,000 years ago. There was no real 'beginning' as we've evolved from other forms of primates.
But if we look around today, many parts of the globe we humans have done pretty well, if you happen to live in the Western world in particular life is pretty good. If you watch Cliffe's video's you certainly see a lot of young students around campus who's lives are infinitely better than the people living thousands of years ago. We are very lucky to be living in these times compared to early man. It's worked out pretty good for many of us.

this is proof quran from god and not corrupted: surah 33 verse 53 O you who have believed, do not enter the houses of the Prophet except when you are permitted for a meal, without awaiting its readiness. But when you are invited, then enter; and when you have eaten, disperse without seeking to remain for conversation. Indeed, that [behavior] was troubling the Prophet, and he is shy of [dismissing] you. But Allah is not shy of the truth. And when you ask [his wives] for something, ask them from behind a partition. That is purer for your hearts and their hearts. And it is not [conceivable or lawful] for you to harm the Messenger of Allah or to marry his wives after him, ever. Indeed, that would be in the sight of Allah an enormity.
