She’s clueless alright, but it’s because that’s how they wrote her. Apart from her pregnancy, one reason she left the show was because she didn’t like how the writers treated her character, so she was fed up with having to play her.
Episode 366 - Time travel back to the year 1795...Strange to see some of the original cast play the new cast like Joe as Nathan & Elizabeth as Mrs Collins...Super happy to see Barnabas being sweet & Sara being real...
This time travel story line was BRILLIANT!! And I'll bet the actors liked playing different roles. Even Barnabas is different since he's not a vampire yet.
In 1795 the light was a lot brighter even if the interior paint job at the old house is rather tacky. But that's how the place was when Barnabutt was locked away.
I wonder why the writers made her into an idiot. How many people in this clothing does she need to meet before she realises what has happened. Let's all now stand and stare at the fainted girl:):) One of the things I liked about Dark Shadows was how everything changed like going to the past and the parallel room and Quentin the ghost communicating with the children. It's nice that Barnabas has finally changed I didn't like him as cruel and a skirt hunter I have never liked cruel people in anything.
So here we are. In the past finally. In 1795 where we get to meet Barnabas as he was, before ... Guess we'll get to meet Angelique very soon now. Because as Vicky points out, we know Josette didn't marry Barnabas, she married Jeremiah. Could have been a last-ditch effort by the writers to revive Alexandra Moltke's character, which was being totally upstaged by those of Jonathan Frid & Grayson Hall.
She came from France (or somewhere) on a boat with her dad (Sam) and her aunt (Hoffman). Josette is played by…you got it, Maggie!! She came to marry Jeremiah then fell for Barnabas, or vice versa. At any rate, that’s why Barnabas hated his uncle and also disliked Burke because he looked like Jeremiah and of course played him in the past. Angelique comes with the group as Josette’s servant, so things heat up almost immediately!!
Yes, it’s a real shame this storyline was never completed…..perhaps if the show were to continue in the future (post 2022) they could finish that story.

This is the real Barnabas, who he really is. His curse and trauma made him what he became in 1967.
