i love how they changed up the last brendan/may battle in ORAS. the added cutscene is cute, and it helped a lot with the character development they didn't have in RSE.
Wally is the strongest of the Rivals. Yeah, Barry has absurdly high level mons and he overpassed Red until he came back, but Wally’s team is a competitive team with a good strategy and good items, so I think if they battle, Wally would be victorious.
@Dominick Medina it’s speed not luck. in Gen 1 the critical hit ratio was based in speed meaning that Pokémon with high speed would land critical hits normaly

There are individual battles in the games that can be a challenge, but there aren’t many of them and they’re usually only reserved for the champion or a secret final battle. As for USUM, I can’t speak on them as I haven’t played them.
At least the designs of the Sw/Sh rivals are memorable. No one in their right mind is gonna give a damn about freaking Tierno 3 months after they beat the game. Marnie, Hop and Bede are all interesting in their own ways. They all have some growth and unique themes to them as well. Sw/sh rivals being less memorable makes almost no sense because at least they tried to differentiate between them. X/Y just gave them all the normal battle theme and said have fun lol (X/Y in the anime is a whole other animal entirely though I will admit)
ORAS’ last battle with May/Brendan takes me back. I remember remarking to my brother after beating Steven and saying “what if they added one last rival battle in post-credits?” When that scene popped up I actually got a little emotional. They very easily could have made it less impactful, but the dialogue from your counterpart pre-battle really fleshes them out, and by extension, the player character also. When I heard the rival theme for what I knew was going to be the last time, I couldn’t help but wipe a tear or two away from my eyes.
Rse may/Brendan is the most pathetic rivals to date(less pathetic to the XY rivals), least ORAS may/Brendan gets to battle you after the credits roll with their mega evolved starter.
Lab Rats Battles facts that was a good battle, but like the main story is over at that point basically they should’ve added another one in the remakes like you go to Victory road or before the last badge

I was fast forwarding through them because I don't want to watch all of it. Imagine my frustration when I realized the reason the first couple of ones kept coming back even though the graphics weren't as good as the last, was because apparently there was something on my screen pulling me back to the beginning.
Seeing all these battles, reminds of my first Blaziken. I remember that when I first learned about Pal Park in DP, I immediately went to migrate my Sapphire team (Original) Got my level 100 Blaziken and plowed through everyone in Pearl. Swept Barry with just Blaziken Swept E4 and Cynthia with only Blaziken Fun times... Then when I had HG/SS, I was having trouble fighting Lance (Kid me didn't know ANY of the Pokémon because it's my first time in a new region) Then, when I went to visit my cousin, I battled Lance again and lost without beating a single Pokemon. I had had it and used my cousins DS and traded over my Blaziken from Pearl to SS. We went on a rampage. Beating the E4 and finally defeating Lance...with just Mirror Move (Dragon Rush/Outrage) Traded him back to Pearl after all that and then finally went to Red on Mt. Silver My team was severely underleveled and got floored by just Pikachu. Again, I went to trade my Blaziken and arrived at Mt. Silver. Beat Red with alittle help of my HM Slave.
Also my Blaziken's moves were: Fire Punch or Flamethrower (Can't remember) Earthquake Double Kick Mirror Move In SS, replaced Mirror Move for Thunder Punch In B2/W2, replaced Double Kick for Dual Chops

This was really great.😊 all of the rival Pokémon battles were cool, but my favorite one is blue from the first pokemon games. Yeah he was a jerk sometimes,but he was also cool and not as annoying like the other rivals in later pokemon games.😃

That's because they were actually based on speed
And some of them are automatically critical hits
Moves like Slash had a guaranteed Crit on Pokémon with 64 or higher base speed
The move karate chop in gen 1 always lands a crit.

This was really great.😊 all of the rival Pokémon battles were cool, but my favorite one is blue from the first pokemon games. Yeah he was a jerk sometimes,but he was also cool and not as annoying like the other rivals in later pokemon games.😃
But he was easy to beat(probably cuz gen 1 was broken at)

Y’know, I think as the years went by, the rival battles became more fun, because that’s what the games are supposed to be! Like watching the SWSH rival battles is really fun, and I love seeing Hop, Bede and Marnie G-MAX their Pokémon!
