  • Many superyachts look gorgeous and are easy to admire, but some have a beauty that is more than just skin deep. OceAnco recently announced a line of designs called "LIFE" designs, and used their awe-inspiring 109m yacht "Bravo Eugenia" as an example of such a design. This video takes a look at what is behind Oceanco's LIFE designs!

    Oceanco is probably THE BEST yacht manufacturer in the world. Just look at the other models, like the Oceanco Cosmos (my favorite), Phi, and the Project Jubilee. And now this... Absolutely amazing design and concepts. Truly the world's BEST!

    Bravo David. OceAnco does make some beauties, Alfa Nero is my favorite from them. LIFE looks a little bit like Enigma (formerly ECO and Katana) without the vents needed for the engine room, on either side of the steps leading down to the swim platform. I guess a long waterline, narrow beam, in proper ratio of course, azipod driven boat is the way to go. No more gas turbines needed. Besides, too many costs in maintaining those aircraft and helicopter engines!

    Stunning. However, when yachts cross into this length, I find that something is lost... stylewise. Impressive, but at this length one requires a dedicated staff and crew (of +20-30?) year round. Mansions are impressive too, but after 40,ooo sq ft. ... something gets lost in translation. Over 40,ooo is often starting to look like an office building (which may still be impressive), and over 100m yachts tend to look more like ocean liners (which may still be impressive). Sweet spot? 40-60m. Ideally somewhere around the middle. Thanks for the video.

    I find it amazing how many of these new larger yachts are looking like ships of the past. The dimensional proportions forward bow sections looking like a 1940s destroyer (not cruiser). Putting a navel gun on it would not look out of place. Where the bow meets the water is much like that of the Olympic class. This seems to have a much better dynamic continuation line though.

    Hey David have you seen the concept desgin of the Mangusta Maxi Open 215 up on their website? The desgin is absoulutely lovely i really hope that a they get a buyer and build it. I also hope that it has enough horsepower to move the boat as fast as the other boats in the Mangusta Maxi open line up like M/Y Da Vinci. I also have a question what makes a yacht an open yacht? Was having a look at the Mangusta Grandsport 54 and comparing it to the concept that ia the Mangusta 215 and they look pretty much the same, would appriciate if you shed some light on this

    Smaller engine room mean more space for the owner but less space to fix things in the engine ,deign by people who don’t or have not fixed the mechanical in a yacht.

    From a distance it looks like a military vessel. It is beautiful but I just question its overall size. You are limited where you can go and dock but that is a trade off worth it to the owners if they choose this boat.

  • @chippyjohn1
    @chippyjohn1 ปีที่แล้ว

    Finally a yacht with a good length to beam ratio. Hull speed is only a rough predictor of a boats maximum speed, you can go faster with more power, it just takes a lot more. the hull speed formula is for old displacement hull designs, not modern axe cutting bows. It is not very relevant with modern designs.

    On the subject of environment and ecologically minded yacht design, given these things spend a great deal of time in the sunniest parts of the world possible, and have have huge areas of space on the roof and deck, is there a reason there aren't more yachts with solar panels? I'm thinking of the way Wider use generators to charge a battery bank - why would they not also have solar panels on the open areas to help charge batteries? Is it aesthetic or is there an engineering issue such as salt air?

    These boats are not yachts their luxury ships! If i had the money i would not buy a 100m ship I'd buy a ferritti 850 25m! Ive been on a Cruze ship and i loved it but your not in touch with the ocean! When on a vessel this big when your looking out your cabin window the water looks like its on tv! No connection at all! The only place i would want to be on a superyacht is the transom beach club! And im told owners of such vessels only use 1 deck of 4! Very little of the yacht is actually used! I get the long traveling part but you can go long distance in a vessel 25m no problems! On an 85 footer every part of the vessel is closely connected to the ocean! You feel its power and its majesty in a ship you feel above the water! Yes their amazing engineering but for a family it makes no sense other than the fact you can afford it! A family on a ferritti 850 would be amazing! Close to each other drifting in paradise enjoying each others company ! Honestly i really dont get a family on a vessel that big the smaller machine would be so much more satisfying and far greater experience and connection of what being on the ocean is all about!! Great video as always David!!🛥⚓
