Breaks my heart. I was the last events manager in there. I sent many a happy bride down the aisle and to their honeymoon suite. Celebrations and some tears with funeral wakes. Loved this place and the history it came with. I wish I could have the beam that had the date 1798 carved into it that hangs nest to reception or the black & white pictures taken out front at weddings dated from the early 1900’s. Please don’t bin them. If you have access to the building I would love to have them. I, like the amazing team I worked with, and all the beautiful couples married there are now part of the history of this building.
@@AbandonedPlacesHiddenSpaces don't know who did it but its a bit sus they wanted to build homes on the ground but couldn't get planning permission cos its a listed building then 2 fires in a couple of weeks and the bulldozers have already knocked the rest down.
I pass here most days 😢sad it got flooded. Alot of family and friends got married here ... So many memories ❤ Hope it gets a revamp soon and manage to safe the Original Character of the building will be great to it open again ❤
Wow, i had no idea this place had closed. Already looks in bad shape in such short time. Hopefully it doesnt sit like this for long or it will end up trashed.
This hotel got burnt to the ground last night, shame it was left to ruin n either the local young team have done it or its been an insurance job, fire broke out at 1am😅

That’s great but sad to hear, glad you had good memories of this place
Who did you work for?
Billy @@billypaul5988I've just seen this too.
Just heard the building went on fire last night, gutted. Thanks for documenting it ❤
That’s a real shame, I do hope whoever is responsible is caught. More than likely insurance job.
They went back and burned the place down this time sadly.
@davidcolquhoun4368 who did the owners ?

Thanks for filming the hotel; were you unable to get into the roof new build ?
Was like a maze inside but I think we covered the whole place
I live next to this, so sad to see such a lovely building like this decay.
I bet you remember it in much better condition and quality than this
Thank you for sharing the Video 😎
My pleasure
I have been to a few weddings there and drank in the bar, I am from Dumbarton lived in Glasgow Road for years such a pity it’s in that state..
It's been knocked down and there's meant to be flats getting built on the spot the hotel was on.

Yes alot of people commenting have mentioned about having their own weddings here. Used to be the place to be by the sounds of things
My father was a manager in the 70s. So sad.
Great to hear people have many memories of this place
Who was you father
Incredibly sad. I’ve been both a groom and a best man there 😢
I bet it looked grand then didn’t it
How on earth is it in such bad condition? It's not even been shut that long.
Mad how quickly mould and damp can take grasp of a place

It got set up on flames last night
Shame
👍 walked by just last week……wondered about the car👀
It’s still there is it ?
Had my wedding reception there on Sept 14,1973.
Wow that’s some time ago. Don’t suppose you have any photos of how the venue looked back then do you ?
It was a beautiful place sooo sad to see it like this … investors running it down to demolish and redevelop for 💰💰💰💰
Oh for sure
So sad. It was a lovely hotel. My family have many happy memories of it.
Sorry to hear that sure was a beautiful place.

Defo an insurance job, the place was rifled with mould and needed serious amendments
Sad had some Great Memories in there
It seems alot of people have
Might want to take the name off before it gets torched...
It’s been up since July no fires as of yet, I get your interests though. With how bad the place is i think burning it down would be the only way.
why in a hurry, slow down !! also in you camera work
We had over 30 locations to hit in 5 days my bad 😁😁 taken into consideration though thank yoh
I was born in dumfries
Ide love to live up that way
