      @@anaconda6147 We all know that they've long been one & the same thing in F1, for MANY years now, sadly...
      Let's not kid ourselves that Honda Motor Co. decided to drop their supply of their completely unbeatable V6 turbocharged engines to the Williams & Lotus teams at the end of the '87 season, in favour of solely supplying the McLaren team (& thus Prost & Senna as their driver lineup), because Ron Dennis was a great guy & good fun to drink saké with, eh?! But hey, they did go on to win 15 out of the 16 races in the '88 season, in which Senna won his first championship...so it worked out rather nicely for both Honda & McLaren, plus Honda only had to supply the one team with their engines & mechanics!

      @@chrisliddiard725 Yep, earlier I listed 9 drivers that could (& IMO, should) be cleared out of F1 by the end of this season...they are Sargeant, Stroll, Tsunoda, Zhou, Ricciardo, Ocon, Bottas, Gasly & Albon...after so many years now of sticking with so many of these drivers (Sargeant is the only relative newcomer to F1 & he's still had 23 starts & hasn't improved, which is the most important factor here - improving) there MUST be so many worthwhile youngsters waiting in the wings for a chance/start in F1 that may turn out to be worthy not only of race victories but perhaps even a championship or two?! THAT would be the kick in the balls that F1 so desperately needs right now, together with the inclusion of Mario Andretti's team, which F1 has been knocking back for years now, which truly sucks balls...
      Honestly, if you're not a decent chance of winning races, then why are you even in F1 in the first place? Obviously, not every team is a decent candidate for race victories (let alone championships) & that truly sucks & almost invariably comes down to finances (primarily to buy the best personnel to design the car - eg Adrian Newey, who has dominated F1 most years since he arrived at Williams in 1991 & they began winning WDC's from 1992 & his cars have now won over 200 Grands Prix) but EVERY SINGLE DRIVER should be worthy of winning races...otherwise, GTFO & let someone who can win races have their chance, FFS...

    People wonder why Stroll has gotten worse, but it's incredibly obvious. He was good before AM as his seat wasn't guaranteed, now he may as well not turn up and still keep it. It's fucking stupid, he is a mockery and he's taking up a seat that could be used by a competent driver.

    • @qwertyrobbo101

    • @lavielemond
      @lavielemond หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Absolutely, mate...I'm not sure that we concur with one another re: Lancelot's being "good before AM" (sure, his 1st of 2 seasons at Williams was decent, although his 3rd place at the farcical '17 Azerbaijan GP was what supplied him almost half his 40 points/12 place WDC that season - but a "good" debut season, nonetheless - whereas in '18, he only earned 6 points/18th place WDC for the season with just 2 points-scoring races, again at Azerbaijan & also Italy - 100% woeful) but regardless of that, the guy's now in his 8th season of F1 & has started 148 bloody races, so there are no freaking excuses by this stage.
      And what's more, seeing as though the 42y/o Alonso is contracted to A.M. until the end of the 2026 season (which will be their first season with Honda engines, the same engine supplier that presently powers the RBR's that are thus far dominating this season) & he will be 45y/o by the end of that season, I don't expect Alonso to be better a driver than he is at present (& though I really like & respect the Hell outta the guy, I don't believe that he's anywhere near the driver that he was at his peak, when he won his championships in '05 & '06), so what's the point of spending all of this money upon a team & engine supplier that that finally provides them with a WDC-worthy car, if neither of your drivers are good enough to justify the car & truly fight for the crown?!

    • @zxl7204
      @zxl7204 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@lavielemond Defo got a point, although saying Alonso if given a good car wouldn't compete for the WDC is outrageous. They wouldn't compete for the WCC tho as that requires 2 good drivers not just 1. But yeah, Stroll should have improved. Every other driver on the grid has at least gotten better as they've competed in more races (excluding Hamilton and Alonso as age is a factor there, ofcourse even though Alonso is amazing he's not as good as in '05+'06 as you said) so why doesn't Stroll improve? Brings me back to my first comment. It's as he's secure in his seat no matter what.

      @@zxl7204 Yeah, you obviously have every right to your equally subjective opinion re: Fernando being/not being able to compete for the WDC in a better car, mate...I've just turned 50 & over the past decade, my ego has had to acknowledge that age truly is a factor that affects one's reflexes, etc & NO ONE can outrun Father Time. Obviously, I'm neither Mick Doohan in his prime (showing my age by mentioning him rather than Stoner, Marquez or someone even newer on the MotoGP scene!) nor an elite F1 driver but upon a slightly faster Fireblade (CBR1000RR) at Phillip Island than I've previously owned (even going back to when they were just 900cc), my times are gradually getting slower & I'm the VERY LAST guy who cares about safety or self-reservation, so it's not that...things just slow down as each year passes, esp' after turning 40y/o, dammit!!

He won't be as good as he was but he still garners huge skill now aswell. A testament to his speed. He is a professional athlete so I wouldn't be surprised if he's still really fit and healthy like he's still in his 30's.

    It's not just Stroll that needs to go. There are at least 3 or 4 drivers that no longer deserve to be there. Ricciardo has had it, hasn't done a single thing for years (ok, one race win with McLaren aside) and now always finds something to blame (like the Chief Moaner, Lewis Hamilton). Logan Sargeant also a waste of space - look at what Albon does with that (pretty bad) Williams - Sargeant is *nowhere* near as good and finishes last or thereabouts every single race. I want to see some new drivers in like Liam Lawson, Ollie Bearman and one or of the other young F2 drivers like Drugovich. F1 is just so stale right now - WE NEED SOME NEW BLOOD.

      FINALLY!! I couldn't possibly agree more with EVERY single word that you wrote, mate...F1 is trying to be so progressive in so many ways, particularly with keeping the 'net zero' climate activists happy with their increasingly electric (God I miss the sound of the F1 engines from the '80s & '90s) power units (can't call them engines anymore, apparently) & the general public happy with the insane safety of the cars nowadays (I'll always hate those 'halo' devices & although I've still not gotten over my all-time F1 idol, Senna's death - 30 years in a few days from now, btw - that former element of danger of F1 was an integral part of the allure of F1, as was the sound of the engines back then - but I doubt that even half of the people on here ever heard an '80s/'90s F1 engine in person back then)...yet they're ignoring THE OTHER MOST IMPORTANT factor of F1...exciting new drivers, fresh young blood, rather than the 42y/o Alonso (will be 45y/o when his current contract with AM expires in 2026) & soon-to-be 40y/o Hamilton, who is about to be paid $100 million per years at Ferrari, when George Russell is kicking his arse almost every race...& as you partially mentioned, there is a bunch of other drivers that are NOWHERE NEAR good enough to be in F1 - but sadly, in EVERY respect now, it seems that F1 is no longer a sport of taking risks in ANY sense of the word...it SUCKS BALLS!!

    Stroll has proven how spoiled and entitled he is. IDK how Logan and Checo are ahead of Stroll in points against their Super License.
    I have a hard time seeing AM signing anyone else but Yuki because of the Honda deal.
    I also have a hard time believing RB will not resign Checo, unless he royal screws up the next couple of races. He has proven to be a good #2 at RB, more consistent as well. Last year after he openly stated he wanted to competed for the championship he started driving horribly. This year he seems to have accepted his #2 role and just drives and is a team player.
    If RB sign Sainz they will have to deal with 2 drivers trying to fight for the championship.
    I can see RB just keeping their roster the same, then at the JR team it will be Lawson and Daniel.
    This means Sainz most likely option will be MB along with George. IMO it will out perform George.
    but next season will def be a shake up on the grid so excited to see what plays out!

Suffice to say that he's now in his 8th season & has had 148 race starts by now & even his 3 x 3rd places were achieved in truly farcical races that no half-decent drivers were able to complete & as someone wrote yesterday, nowadays it seems that rather than actually RACING against anybody else, his sole 'strategy' seems to be to opt for the attrition battle, whereby he either hopes for any more farcical races like those as Azerbaijan in 2017 &/or Italy & Sakhir in 2020, or he simply one-stops when others pit twice & then hopes that he may finish higher in the race than others via that method of, um...what's another word for competing in a race without actually RACING?!
