    Great review, Tim!!! Question, i have the 2024 model of GT sport, E-twow, did your rear drum brake make a clicking sound when you used it? im assuming its a antilock brake, but idk if thats normal or mine's messed up. thanks in advance! Great stuff!

    The only thing I hate about the GT SE having put 400 miles on it is the horn. In NYC no one reacts to the horn. You can honk your brains out and the person walking in front of you with Air Pods in their ears won’t even flinch, forget about them moving out of your way. Been looking for an aftermarket horn that sounds like a train horn or something really loud. Was hoping they change the horn on the new model…

    • @TimsElectric

    Tim....I'm looking at the GT Sport versus the NIU KQi3 Max-thoughts?

    • @TimsElectric
      @TimsElectric  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Mike,
      I need to do a video on this....very soon...like maybe next week :)
      Quick answer...
      GT is quicker but less range
      plus it has suspension (not much but with solid tires necessary)
      The Niu has a much longer range
      The GT is a lot lighter.
      Love the folding mechanism on them both..but the Niu is a little nicer in the folding department.
      Overall...I tend to reach for the GT more than the Niu...I think because if I need a longer range I gravitate towards a larger unit like the Apollo City Pro :)

    Hi I am 5’3 and 110 pound (not sure if it matters) I’m looking at the GT sport and the Boost V. I live in Chicago everything is in at most a 5 mile radius from my apartment. What’s important to me is the weight of the scooter.. Is the GT sport a noticeable difference? Or do you think someone my size would notice? I like the idea of a bigger battery but I’m not sure if the 4lbs is so noticeable when carrying. Please let me know what your recommendation would be thank you

      She absolutely loves her Booster V.
      She does notice the difference in the weight but it's not huge :)
      They're both awesome..I even use the Booster V and I'm way bigger than you :)
      However...for peace of mind...you might go with the GT Sport for the little bit of extra range.
      BTW,,,,there's nothing even close to the power/weight ratio of the UScooters...they're so light but really so peppy :)

      apply chapstick liberally into every gap and crack and you are golden. do that and you can expect zero water ingress and zero rust.
      safety wise, keep the speeds on the low end b/c even though the tire grip is very good it's not good enough for sharp fast turns in wet conditions.

    • @TimsElectric

      For me it's fine....but if you want excellent brakes you'll need twin hydraulic disc brakes....much bigger unit then though

  • @thevoiceofreason4104
    @thevoiceofreason4104 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Mine slows a lot at around 40%, has low range and the electronic brake is too weak to stop the scooter from higher speeds. The new controller used in the 2022 GT Sport has wrecked a lot of the good qualities of the 2021 GT SE.
    Hopefully E-TWOW fixes this quickly.
    TH-cam reviewers receiving free items to keep are often (understandably) reluctant to criticize, so sometimes you have to read between the lines. If you see faults rationalized or someone damning with faint praise then it’s time for you to worry about a product.

    • @TimsElectric
      @TimsElectric  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm happy to share what I like and don't like. I think if I were to compare, I would acknowledge that that I preferred the previous iteration for those two reasons. To that end when I do a comparison video I think you'll see. However for someone that hasn't ridden both, possibly new to scooters I think they'd find it amazing too...I loved it and didn't find the braking an issue.....but have heard others unhappy with it. I'm interested to see what they do ...update would be cool.....I haven't seen many manufacturers fix/update their scooters.

    • @thevoiceofreason4104
      @thevoiceofreason4104 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Fair enough, Tim but I think you either were being a bit generous in the criticism of the braking, or else you received a slightly modified GT Sport compared to those of other early adopters.
      Since you’re the first person to post a TH-cam review of this model, I think it’s important that the pros and cons be clearly outlined. There are probably a few people that will be ordering the GT Sport solely based on your review.
      I read somewhere else last week that new versions may be shipping with a different controller. I don’t know if that has to be specifically requested or if all subsequent GT Sports will have the new controller. It’s also not yet clear if this is the GT SE controller, or how the new controller will affect features like top speed, braking, range and cruise control.
      Even if the new controller reduces the top speed to 25 mph, as long as it fixes the electronic braking and range issues and keeps the cruise control, the GT Sport would probably be the best lightweight scooter on the market.

    • @TimsElectric
      @TimsElectric  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I wondered that myself but I think I got one of the first models to review ...so I think I have the same model that others are complaining about is what I received.
      I'll be doing a follow up video at some point as I'm not happy with the reduced power at 40% battery either...I think it was you that picked up on this....but otherwise it's still my daily scooter (the GT SE is in the closet) ,...love this thing :)
      I have also heard that they are now shipping with an updated controller (I think they have to flash the existing controller or something) but apparently any sold now will have a similar controller experience as the GT SE....I'm happy with the way mine is but perhaps it'll make others more happy :)
      It would have been super frustrating for Uscooters though...can you imagine?
      Can you keep me up to date as to what happens with you? Do they ship you a new controller or do you have to do an update...just curious :)
      Cheers

    • @thevoiceofreason4104
      @thevoiceofreason4104 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I sent mine back and I am now waiting to hear from them what they think the problem was. But it seems clear that the initial batch of GT Sports has an issue with the controllers and I suspect the controller may also have affected my battery pack.
      I was thinking about either getting an Inokim OX (for reliability) or else having them replace my GT Sport with a GT SE, but if the updated GT Sport controller fixes the issues with range, acceleration and braking, while retaining the 28 mph top speed and cruise control, then I might just have them send me a new GT Sport instead. And unfortunately, while I’ve been waiting to find out what to do with my GT Sport, Urbanmachina is now sold out of the version of the Inokim OX that I was considering. (If you have never reviewed the OX, I would suggest that you call Urbanmachina in Vancouver and see if they’d be willing to lend you one of their demo units for review.)
      E-TWOW definitely put Uscooters in an awkward position. Given how incremental the changes have been in the GT over the past three years, it’s quite surprising that E-TWOW would have shipped the GT Sport with these issues. A single test ride should have made everything fairly obvious and it should have been easy to then update the controller firmware.
      Over one month after the release of the GT Sport it appears that you are still the only TH-camr with a review posted! Can you *please* do a comparison ASAP between the GT Sport and the GT SE, doing a range test at top speed and comment on how quickly the top speed declines for each? Those of us using scooters for commuting typically ride at top speed to minimize travel time, so this info would be very useful. If the GT SE can maintain a top speed of say 23-25 mph for a lot longer than the GT Sport can maintain a top speed of 26-28 mph, then the GT SE might actually be the best choice for commuters. This is the kind of real world info that only TH-cam reviewers seem to be able to deliver.
      Thanks for taking the time to review all of these scooters.

    • @TimsElectric
      @TimsElectric  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks so much for sharing. I do hope you get a replacement soon :)
      Hopefully the GT Sport (version 2) is exactly what you need.
      It is odd that E-TWOW shipped without testing..very odd.
      I haven't tried the OX yet but will reach out to UrbanMachina as they seem like awesome people :)
      They are a fair distance from though (I'm on an island with a two hour ferry to get onto the mainland $280 to get there and back plus gas ...I need an EV :) ).
      I totally understand the idea of comparing the two...but if there's a second version then it probably makes more sense for me to hold off.
      If as you mentioned the new ones are fixed and basically updated GT SEs then I think the problem is probably fixed and thus a comparison mute.
      Although, I really didn't have an issue with mine...I use it daily (no today it's raining) but several times a week and the GT SE is in the closet for now.
      I'm actually moving away from just doing reviews (you may notice this in the coming weeks), so it may be awhile.
      Although you have made me curious...about the range and top speeds...I need to get an app to figure out my speeds.
      Thanks so much for sharing...Typically I have the throttle on max for when I'm riding the UScooter too.

    I love the GT SE for commuting, I have over 200 miles on it now and it is going strong. The only thing I find strange is that if you’re going downhill the regen brakes don’t stop all the way. I need to apply the handbrake or foot brake to stop completely. Have you noticed the same?

    • @TimsElectric
      @TimsElectric  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @daa82 that's interesting that you say that...as you probably know with my reviews I'm not very technical...for me I'm trying to get across what it feels like to ride the scooter...but you're probably right...I think I use the regen about 90% of the time...and the mechanical brake only when I need it for a sudden stop or if I'm going downhill a bit too fast and want to ensure I'm going to be able to stop :)

    • @daa82
      @daa82 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @Coocola L3 this is what I miss from the Xiaomi m365. When you pressed the handbrake it would activate both the regen brake and the disc brake. On the GT SE I sometimes feel like in the moment it is hard to decide whether to use regen, handbrake or foot brake but I like your idea of developing muscle memory to always use handbrake + regen instead of using regen + sometimes adding handbrake if you feel the stopping power is too slow. Too much decision making

    What's the real world range for this model at top speed? Really need a light and compact scooter for my wife who needs to ride it at least 2 miles to the train station and another mile to her work afterwards. Was considering the Unagi Model one but that real world range is abysmal for what you're paying. Also needed solid tires to avoid punctures as my area is prone to punctures galore. The looks and ease of folding this scooter is really appealing. Just wanted to know if you've tested it for real world mileage before I bite the bullet.

      @@TimsElectric She's less than 110 lbs and maybe 4'11" so the adjustable height of the scooter was also a plus. Reason I wanted this particular model is if I like it, too, I might get one myself. She only has one little hill to ride up to get to the train station so hopefully that 750 watt motor has enough oomph for her. My commute though is mostly flat but much farther at 5 miles each way which was why a longer range scooter is more intriguing for me.

      Oh I see...in that case I'd buy the Uscooter GT Sport (use my discount code to save a few bucks :) ) and then if she lets you borrow it :) you can try it out and see if it'll work for you :)
      It has no problem getting me around and I'm 265lbs so it'll be quick for her.....plus if you love it you can get her the Booster V...my wife has one and loves it...we have three Uscooters hanging on the wall of our apartment :) they're awesome and pretty much maintenance free :)

      I’m 6’3, 240 lbs and I do about 6 miles daily in stop and go traffic in NYC and some high speed ~24mph when I get home in the suburbs with a few steep hills ~10 degrees straight up on the way back home. I can easily do 3 days of this without charging on the GT SE so that makes it about 18 miles at which point it is down to 20% battery power. I could probably do another day of this but I don’t risk it as it gets a bit sluggish on hills when battery remaining is less than 50% but am still able to get about 22mph on straightaways even at 20% battery left.

      @@MrHockaluger the oomph here would probably be a bit overkill for her. She’s light as a feather compared to Tim and I. I think a 250 watt motor is all she needs. I had a Xiaomi Mi Lite which had a 300 watt motor - it was totally fine for me, achieved 15mph on straightaway with my weight but it couldn’t climb hills with my weight but with your wife’s weight and height I don’t see that being a problem. Maybe look at Swagger V1, that one weighs about 15lbs/8kg- 1/2 of the UScooter weight. Would be easy to carry around on a train for a smaller build person like your wife or perhaps look at a Glion Dolly with its cool folding mechanism. Another interesting choice is the Segway Air.

    So do you have any recommendations for a solid dual motor escooter with an available saddle for under 2k? I just bought my first budget escooter (a Kugoo Kirin M4 Pro), and overall I'm extremely happy with it and having a blast. My problem is that I live in a very hilly area, and I'm a big guy too (235ish) so the 500 watt M4 Pro, while plenty fast in the flat, really struggles on some of the hills in the areas. There are roads I flat out won't go down because I know it will never make it back up. I prefer to ride seated with the option to stand for a bit to give my ass a rest, so I'm looking for a dual motor scooter for my next purchase. I just haven't seen any in my price range that have a saddle available.

      sadly Dave, I don't know of any ...I actually haven't tried a saddle before...maybe the Emove Cruiser? as it has an adjustable handlebar.

      @@TimsElectric Thanks for the response Tim! Actually the Cruiser is at the top of my list right now, but I'm having second thoughts after watching it fail your hill test. I do love that one overall though, and I'm sure it would do better with a running start (and you've got 30 or so pounds on me lol), and I've heard nothing but good things about the scooter and Voromotors, so yea, currently at the top of the list. This will be next year's purchase anyway as I only just bought the M4 Pro a month ago and I AM very satisfied with it other than the hill problem, and truthfully there is no scooter in it's price range that would do better on the hills.

      @@thevoiceofreason4104 Thanks I'll check that one out!
      Edit: That has some impressive specs for the price. Didn't see a saddle kit offered for it though, and I'd like to have a slightly bigger battery. I think the Cruiser is still ahead.

      I need to say, that the Emove Cruiser I had was the older less powerful model.
      I wonder if it would make it up the hill of death (the new model
      They even have a coupon code $50 off any new electric scooter from the EMOVE and Kaabo brands which is what the Cruiser is. Let me know if the coupon code works :)

    Wanted to let you know I just ordered one and I used your code, "TimsElectric"
    Thanks for the $80 off!
    I got my Hiboy S2 Pro back in September, it's been perfect, even survived a crash in Dec, not into a car luckily.
    My throttle shit the bed about 3 weeks ago. I've still been able to use it by keeping the throttle right in that sweet spot avoiding the dreaded E2 Error. Today though, it was bad... Jerky and working intermittently.
    I sent Hiboy an email when it first started and they got back to me surprisingly fast and sent out a new throttle, I just got it and it's half the size of the original, guess they're going cheap.
    Trying to replace this should be quite an experience. th-cam.com/video/Z4nOv19uz6U/w-d-xo.html
    Ever since the throttle busted, I've been looking to see if anything new came out and stumbled onto your channel.
    I'd been considering the Fluidfreeride Mosquito but after reading some Reddit comments and such, I decided on the Uscooter GT Sport, basically the same scooter just different Batteries.
    Looking forward to getting it and seeing how it is.

    On the GT SE and original GT, you can unlock 33mph top speed using a code(I'll link below). With this top speed unlocked, is the GT sport still faster? Still worth it?

      WOW ...I didn't know this..it's quick but I didn't know it was that quick...with me on it (unlocked) it's plenty fast for me so I won't be unlocking it...but cool to see :) 20-25mph is plenty fast on such a small scooter without a full face shield :)

      @@TimsElectric Well with my GT unlocked I only get about 27mph since I'm 200lbs. I'm looking to upgrade my GT to a GT Sport or just GT SE. Could you possibly try out the code on your GT and tell me how how it now compares to the GT Sport? I can't find anyone who could give me insight on this issue. This would help me make a decision on what to get.
      Thanks for replying Tim, hope you're having a good day.
