Unfortunately and for no actual valid reason they do have a lot of haters. Mostly people who can’t stand the fact that they are a huge globally known successful group. Others who won’t even give them a chance because they look to girly for wearing make up on interviews and their MV’s. Those people are missing out of great music but that’s on them. Thanks for your reaction I enjoy seeing you loose it over the lyrics and how insanely talented they are.

The thing that you gotta understand for all this to make sense is that RM and Suga used to be underground rappers in Korea before they got signed to BIG HIT and became what the Koreans call K-pop idols. When that happened all their old friends from the underground hip hop scene turned on them, saying that they had “sold out”, or become too “commercial”. Suga even told them that he did it because he wanted to keep doing what he loved but he also wanted to be able to eat, since there was not much money In underground rap and he went hungry a lot. So the people they were closest to became their enemies and tried to bring them down. Meanwhile, the mainstream k-pop people didn’t like them much either, saying they were ugly and untalented, just because they were different from traditional K pop groups. So they were getting hate from every direction but despite that they found an audience and were gaining popularity, which is when the big entertainment companies in Korea started to get alarmed and tried to squash BTS like a bug. Trying everything to destroy them from trying to buy out their contract, to calling in favors to block them from shows and radio air time. Even inciting the fans of their own groups to petition the government to disband BTS, and trend anti-BTS hashtags on social media. That’s what they mean when they talk about haters.

Yes, it's right. The amount of hate BTS have faced is ridiculous. And when they became worldwilde famous, they were dissmissed and hatred for being part of Kpop/ being a boy's band/ being asian men/being beautiful men without any toxic masculinity... littérally for everything ! (and, from a business point of view, succeding by their own with their compagny without respecting the silent rule of the "pay for play system)

Your reaction made me smile lol. RM and Suga were underground rappers prior to BTS so they received alot of backlash when they joined the group. Not only that but they were getting sh*t on from the Kpop industry because they were part of a small independent label doing things their own way and doing well. Although some kpop artists had some creative freedom BTS was different in that they were given that freedom from the start. The three rappers wrote the songs and produced (along with some awesome in house producers). The CEO wanted the guys to tell their stories and make authentic music. At some point the four vocalist also began participating in writing and producing. They were not following the industry 'rules' and often discriminated against. So basically they were catching h*ll from both sides. RM and Suga were invited onto a podcast with other rappers and were basically ambushed and ridiculed being called girls for wearing stage make-up and accused of being sell outs. So yes they did not have a shortage of hate. Their response always came in the form of lyrics. The 'go back to Hawaii' line in Suga's part was a shot at one of the podcast rappers telling him to just go back to where he came from which was Hawaii lol. I think you might enjoy an introduction video to gain some insight into both the group but also each individual member. It's a longer video but trust me Army's will watch. Yes BTS has a lot of hater. They came from a small agency that nearly went bankrupt. But they had a dream and a goal when others said they couldn’t they proved them wrong. There is a documentary by Excelest BTS mistreatment. Even now they’re snubbed. You probably noticed that you don’t hear them on the radio that’s because they’re honest and would pay to play. Grammys have snubbed them. But they keep on moving. Keep in mind also they were teenagers when they wrote this yes they’re geniuses. Enjoyed your reaction 💜

RM and Suga came from the rap scene in SK. RM has an IQ of 148 and it's been said that even seasoned rappers didn't want to take him on in rap battles even though he was just a teenager. Suga was no slouch either. So when they both were recruited to create a hip hop group for Big Hit Entertainment it was like their "friends" and all the people they knew from the rap scene turned on them with venom, and treated them like they were sell outs. They signed with a small agency up against the big 3 entertainment agencies in South Korea who did everything they could to make sure no one from Big Hit was going to get any breaks, even going so far as to accuse them of illegal activities which were all slanderous lies. Then you have the stigma of "boy band" that no one wants to take seriously in the western music industry and the ignorance of what KPOP is really all about. So yea, haters is an understatement. It's such sweet victory that they're now the biggest band in the world, selling out stadiums around the globe in minutes.

So glad you’re enjoying the Cyphers! So the lyric videos are set where it’s color coded. The one who is rapping, you can tell by the color the font is. Also the photos will all be black and white and the one who is rapping will be in full color. Hope that makes sense! You’ll be able to pick out who’s who soon enough. Match the color of the name in the photo to the color the lyrics are in...it matches who is rapping. So, when the lyrics are written in orange, that means Rap Monster is the one rapping. Green for Suga; pink for J-Hope! In other lyric videos, the person that is singing/rapping is the one photo that is in color...the others are in black and white. They can be tricky to follow; it took me a while. I love the Cyphers; can't wait for you to do all of them! Hope you keep watching!

    RM’s line “This is a kingdom. I’m a king, you’re dumb”
    Play on words for Kingdom:
Kingdom = king + dom (sounds like “dumb”)
    He’s king & you’re dumb
In korean “dom” means an extra / freebie
    He’s king & you’re an extra (nobody)
In other words he’s saying that he’s a king while you’re a dumb nobody 😌

They do have a lot of haters, but a lot of those haters lose their careers and/or get cancelled in the process, while BTS passively collect lyrical ideas for their next hit off of that hate. Some of them disappear off the face of the earth and you'll never find them online to compare. BTS collectively don't even have to return the beef and righteously leave them nameless.

  • @koolio4997

People hate BTS because they always have this boysband image for kids and young girls, like backstreetboys or one direction, and the media present BTS as such when they have never listened to a single BTS song. So people have prejudices about BTS without knowing them, and they have no ideas that this group compose, produce and write their own music, and that this music is not made for children. In short, those who hate BTS have never listened to BTS, they say it’s hom*sex*als who dance, and that’s all...
Suga once said: If you put aside the prejudices you have on us and make the effort to listen to our music, you will love it.

This is exactly the prejudice I had before I listened to them... I’m a man who listens to rap, and on Twitter when it was about bts, other men said it was a boysband for teenagers. And then one day I came across an excerpt from them on twitter, and when I saw it was BTS, I couldn’t believe it. So people gave me songs to listen to, and then I realized I was wrong about them. I regret to have followed this tendency to hate them without knowing them, because yes it's a tendency to hate BTS unfortunately.

BTS as a group has had to battle haters from the start because they weren't from one of the big 3 companies and no one could believe they could achieve the success they did on talent alone - but if we're talking specific to the Rap Line and the reason they've put out these cyphers it goes along with the fact that both RM and SUGA started out as underground rappers and then joined an idol company. So those from the underground community looked down on them for "selling out" and fans of the idol world would say things like they didn't belong in the kpop world and didn't fit the image. RM specifically has talked about not being able to fit into either and that he's lost people he considered friends just because he pursued his career the way he did.
    also
    j-hope = purple
    RM = gold
    SUGA = green

@Stryker1804, you’re new to BTS so you really don’t know the struggles that they started 2013 yes almost a decade ago since their debut have they gotten ridiculous hate from outsiders as well as their own home country of South Korea!
BTS started as a hip-hop group and they were totally different from the other K-pop groups that were coming from the larger companies. BTS came from a very small company that was almost going bankrupt they could barely pulled out their debut together and it was a fluke how they got that debut because another k-pop group couldn’t perform that day on the TV show and that started their journey of BTS!
Because BTS was so different than the other K-pop idol groups, first of all RM the leader of BTS came from the underground South Korean hip-hop scene so did SUGA , The hate started when their own underground hip-hop rappers started talking down to them and saying that they sold out because they decided to join an agency that means they went main stream. If you remember Drake came from an underground hip-hop scene too! He got hate from the underground Canadian hip-hop rappers said that he sold out because he went main stream and signed with a company! yes their journeys were not exactly the same but that’s a reference that you could maybe understand as an American. Look at Tech N9ne he never would go main stream he said that he would always be true to be an underground rapper can you imagine if he decided to sign a contract with an agency and go main stream he would get so much hate even though he’s been respected so now you understand the situation and how it all began with the hate!
BIGHIT entertainment even sent BTS to Los Angeles to get tutored and schooling from famous rappers so that they could be a strong in the hip-hop roots and the culture. It was a reality TV show back in 2014 called “American hustle life“ and Warren G and Coolio( RIP) became BTS mentor for several weeks while they were in LA.
One thing I can say about RM & SUGA they are serious students of hip-hop they study all of the masters of hip-hop they actually paid homage and one of their songs to the OGs of hip-hop “HipHop/Phile “ & RM especially his first mixtape that you can still download for free on SoundCloud all the mixtapes and music that are not on their albums are free on SoundCloud. That’s how much BTS love their fans they don’t sit there with their hands out saying pay me! The more you get to know about BTS is through the fans we are called ARMY for a reason! We are very well organized we are not just 15-year-olds who love a boy band we come in all ages, all races, all religions, all sexual orientations and all job descriptions so don’t categorize us into one certain category because there are millions of us that outnumber all the other fan bases!
Their struggles were hard in the beginning they got a lot of flack from other people hating on them they’ve gotten death threats they had to postpone their concert because of the death threats, even the haters attacked V because he talked about his grandmother that raised him who passed away and he couldn’t go to the funeral because he was a on concert tour!
The hate is real! And just like the saying goes if you don’t have haters then you must not be doing something right! And other words expect to have haters but the hate that BTS got is no joke! What may be interesting for you to know more about BTS ,their journey is through a introduction guide to BTS by Taylor it’s a current update version of May 2022 that will give you some insight, knowledge and record breaking accomplishments that these Bangtan boys went through and how they accomplished everything to get where they are today! Coming from literally a bankrupt company sleeping in a bedroom where there was three bunkbeds and one single bed,not knowing what their future was going to be! They grind and they worked hard and they showed the people that were hating on them! The best answer to the haters is success!💜

Class and good character are rare these days, but my guys have both in spades. As far as their individual styles, the running joke is that Suga, brutally honest, "will tell you that you're shit", RM, with his 148 IQ, "will explain to you why you're shit" and Jhope, our Sunshine and our Hope, "will tell you it's all right to be shit". so yes this is directed at a rapper specifically. When Suga said “go to Hawaii” it was actually a direct diss to the person they’re talking about (I’ll give back story in a second) because that’s where said rapper was born. The rapper they are talking about is b-free. Born in Hawaii from South Korea. He did an interview with rap monster (RM) and suga from bts, along with other underground rappers; where he basically dissed them claiming multiple things such as, them being idol rappers makes them not real rappers, and because they’re idol rappers they’re trying to be like girls for dressing up nicely and wearing makeup, etc etc. in that interview you can hear girls in the crowd gasping in shock and cursing from the absurdity of the pure disrespect that came out of his mouth. Not only to BTS, but to the idol industry, and to women. A few years later after they’ve released diss tracks b-free ended up apologizing. When you watch the last two cypher videos they’re talking mostly about haters in general. But with this cypher they are 10000% talking about b-free. From the Hawaii comment, to “idol rapper? Cut that bullshit” to talking about how big headed the underground rappers are while bts is playing above ground and rising in success, to suga telling him he should get a part time job and basically quit rapping. This is about b-free. If you’re curious about the specific interview, you can watch it in your free time. m.th-cam.com/video/evfNBEeChek/w-d-xo.html

The reason why BTS made cypher pt.2.
Suga and RM were both in the underground rap community before debuting as idols. A couple months after BTS’ debut, they had an interview with a couple people of the Korean underground rap community , one of them was BFree, Bfree was an upcoming underground rapper who was beginning to become more popular in Korea (actually not), during the interview, BFree made kept asking them insulting questions about them and their (RM and Suga) desicion to be part of a label/becoming idols. Also made comments about how they have no passion for music only lust for fame and how they quit underground because they didn’t want to work hard.
Cypher pt.2.Triptych was because he(BFree) made fun of all the members of BTS, and they were offended that BFree didn’t know what he was talking about and was bashing them with no knowledge about their lives before their debut.
ARMY who has been here since their first years know how hard was BTS path in the industry, being mocked not only by hater but also the industry, who discriminated them just for debuting in an small company ( Big Hit).
I'm not an english native speaker, so I hope this can be understandable.

All the members are driven and have been through the ringer. However, JHope went through the the fire because there was an online campaign to kick him out of the group because they said he was ugly. JHope almost quit the group because of that. My heart goes out to him especially. That all being said, he really drives himself, because he does choreography, produces, writes raps and sings. He has a broad body of work on his solo projects. He is reaping the fruits of his labor as he is the one who purchased a $1.6ml dollar house( somewhere in that ballpark). I think that experience is what drives him even harder to really create outside of the box. I am so glad the rap line is finally getting the vast exposure from the rap world. They have far exceeded the K-pop title as they have broken through many barriers.

You asked at 8:40 (timestamp) who that was? it's Rap Monster (RM). By the way, this cypher pt. 2 was 1 year after their debut. They were this good in 2014. Their rap skills and lyricism has improved over the years. They never slowed down on anything, because they love what they do. And they are all seven members releasing solo projects before they enlist for their mandatory military service. By the way, J-Hope just let us know that he has the date for his elistment, but he won't tell us until he is ready to say goodbye. But thankfully their service is only 18 months. He could have waited to cancel his military posponement, but he wanted to start as soon as he could so he can come back and continue making music. He will be the seond one to enlist. JIN, the eldest, enlisted December 13, 2022.
SUGA is rapping about B-Free, a rapper that insulted them on a radio interview they were all at, and he was also rude to the BTS ARMY after. Because BTS were so young (ages 16 to 21) and new in the music industry, and these were their elders (late 20's - 30's), they couldn't clap back on air. So this was their way of getting the message to their haters.

Who was that? That was him, RM. The man is a poet, master of lyrics. And the way he raps and changes between two languages is crazy.
I wish I could say they didnt have a lot of haters but unfortunately they did and do.
When they first debuted, in their own country, they had an entire industry against them. They came from a poor label with no influence and debuted as a hip hop group which was wildly unpopular. Parents would view them as hoodlums, the govt and other adults hated their "real talk" about not popular topics like depression, society's untealistic expections on youth, mental health, etc. And it took years for them to really get attention in their own country and it took them changing their vibe away from pute hip hop to a more pop vibe but their messages stayed the same. And the rapline took tons of jabs from the korean underground rap scene who still declare they are better....theyre not, sorry. Now they built a fandom overseas which grew with every album release. Now in the west, they deal with ignorance, racism and xenphopia to this day. They had to bang down the doors in the US to get any recognition and they are still only served the bare minimun even with their huge fandom and immense talent. Radio will not play anything with Korean lyrics...even if its only a few lines in a song. It can be records selling 100k copies a week and get millions of stream and they are still shut out of radio and off the Hot 100. They are wrongly labeled bubble gum pop and teeny bopper music. And a lot of people won't even give them a chance. And some who do make fun ofbthem for being too pretty or different or they cany understand them and are too lazy to read lyrics. I see some reactors still say they are just ok and US artists are better. We both know that isnt true.
Anyways. This is why ARMY fights for them. We've been doing it for years.
Ps. I like you as a reactor but one way to chase away ARMY is to ask for likes or views. Believe me. ARMY WILL come if they believe you are genuinely here for the music and not just for views....

How can I forget that once upon a time some guys from the Korean hip hop and rap game was talking shit about them for being idols, calling them girls for their looks. There are videos from that moment. Today is still hatred towards BTS, if it weren't for their fans today the world would never see them. Radios, TV, media, like today TH-cam platform explained why it freezes the views of its recent releases and excuses itself by saying that it is because it is a massive group, which is not logical. The cyphers always had a pretty heavy weight as if it was their chance to release the words they had stored.

8:45 It's RM 😂 (Then called Rap Monster, then changed his stage name to just RM around 2017 if I remember correctly)
Sadly it's easier to hate people who are famous. They've gotten haters since 2013 when they were small, and even in 2023 when they've gotten worldwide recognition and success. The haters just evolved. They say BTS is overrated, but they do not want to give them credit for, like what you said, working their ass*s so hard while these keyboard warriors are sleeping. There are people who are this talented and do not work this hard, right? But BTS is adamant in keeping their feet on the ground and staying humble even though they take pride in their hardwork and dedication, because they've seen how easy it is to lose yourself in fame. They want to be themselves and that's it.
Their cyphers are all diss songs for specific types of haters, some referencing to actual people. I just love the fact that they write songs about their haters and earn money from it, like who is really winning here?😂 I love Cypher pt. 2, but Cypher pt. 3 is my most favorite. Try looking up a performance after seeing the lyrics. It's 🔥🔥🔥
A good thing to remember is their group name in Korean: Bangtan Sonyeondan, which directly translates to Bulletproof Boy Scouts (and some time after it was often shortened to BTS when they started touching base in the US). They wanted to be a group that's "resistant to bullets" a.k.a deflecting unhealthy stereotypes aimed at the youth of their generation like bullets. They write songs about the struggles of teens and in their 20s that's also relatable to all ages now since we've all gotten older. That's also why they have a lot of songs criticizing society, school systems, cultural expectations, etc. You think you're vibing to a sexy song and when you look up the lyrics it's about the feelings of the oppressed youth just trying to live their lives😂
I suggest taking your time with their songs while reading the lyrics. Vibe first even without the lyrics and be shooketh when you find out what it's about. Like Suga said in a press conference in 2017, it's not a BTS album if there's no song criticizing society. A good chunk of their discography is truly just about the stories of their lives and of the youth. It's also unusual for a supposedly KPop idol group who have released albums each year for a decade to have a small percentage of songs about romantic love. Enjoy listening to them!

100% literally from day 1 the haters were appearing and growing. Fresh voices with a fresh sound and look popped on the scene and established groups and companies did not like it. There have been countless attempts to take them down with groundless lawsuits (every one dismissed in the end), campaigns to publicly shame them, make false accusations about their sincerity in the messages they presented, and so SO much more. But they’re so unlike anyone else, including their ability to press on, keep creating and saying what they wanted to say while entertaining, not engaging in responding to the haters, and look where that’s gotten them today. Still fighting battles, esp in the Western music world, but they continue to press on. It’s who they are

Rappers in Korean spitting on them because they were idols... they've been thru it and came out with their hearts and art intact - giving all their success to ARMY, doing it all for Army.

The other Cyphers address haters as a collective. They have a lot of haters from underground, the k-hiphop industry and the k-pop industry, as well as anti-fans.
But Cypher pt.2 is directed at a rapper who looked down on them, named Bfree. If you watch the Guide to BTS members: the Bangtan 7, the part where a guy mocked RM & Suga for wearing make up on stage, that they're not hiphop, that dude was Bfree. So Bfree came from Hawaii (Korean American), and in Suga's verse, he told him a con rapper and go back to hawaii. That may also be why RM snapped a lot in English here, where other cyphers you dont see him intentionally brought in a long english verse, and also why Jhope's verse was the shortest, he was rather a supporter to RM & Suga, you know how good jhope is at respecting and giving the stage to people needing it.

There is nothing more fun than comments of knowing something else!! kpop has tons, endlessly But it's a harsh world, and stay there even more, because many are forgotten. But bts are built in a different way An innate talent that the world must know because first the words are theirs, net their writing Their ability to understand music is outstanding And kpop at this level has become hysteria because they are making history! The world needs to listen to what bts has to offer, music that makes you feel better, be encouraged to be strong and believe in yourself They work hard and should be appreciated. Sure they'll have haters along the way People don't like to see someone else's success, certainly in this industry bts is here to put a stamp on their talent!

During 2014, they got a lot of undeserved hate from Kpop fans and the K-hiphop fans. Kpop fans of big company groups irrationally hated them bcuz they were a group that was gaining clear traction despite being rookies from a small company with not much traditional industry backing, and a smaller fanbase. They were also accused by big 3 company kpop fans that year (exo fans and bigbang fans, particularly) of copying their "school-boy concepts" and a bunch of other ridiculous things that were already very common in kpop. They were also labelled the "visual holes of kpop" bcuz they weren't "attractive enough" for "idol standards" (...according to big3 kpop fans). As for the k-hiphop community... they didn't like how they were attempting to be both hiphop and kpop at the same time, saying to their faces in an interview that wearing makeup goes against the "rules" of hiphop, and essentially painting RM and Suga as sell-outs (as they had prior involvement in the underground community pre-bts). Another thing that brought them criticism is that BTS started out as purely a Hiphop group in 2010, prior to the current vocal members joining, but when their boss (bang pd) decided they should lean into a kpop direction and asked them all to learn how to dance, most of the original members left to pursue solo rap careers and were judgmental towards the current rap-line for deciding to stay & tough it out. You should listen to a cover RM did of "Too much" by Drake that he released on soundcloud in 2013 (but in his own lyrics). He talks about his feelings of struggling with his identity between being an idol and rapper, and even mentioning his old friends in the k-hiphop community looking down on him. It's one of my favorite underrated song's by him because he really digs deep into how all that discourse around him, made him feel as an artist.

  • @Dani.Torres
    @Dani.Torres ปีที่แล้ว

BTS debuted in 2013, and as soon they stepped on a stage they got hate from two sides: The underground hip hop scene in South Korea for being sell outs and doing "Idol Rap shit" and from the big K-POP companies for their hard-hitting lyrics and "ugly, not an idol" appearance and stage presence and unorthodox music. The hate didn't stop on just comments. Companies and media, including TV shows, radio show and podcasts, plus the fans of other groups took action and sabotaged many of their shows and charts.
But the guys kept doing their own thing, and their fanbase kept growing outside Korea.
Then in 2017, they came to the west with their Korean songs... you can imagine it, right? The xenophobic comments, the "boy band with make up"... "their fans are only 15 year old girls", radio personalities calling them a "sickness worse than COVID"... It's battle after battle. Billboard changing their rules not once or twice but 3 times in order to don't let BTS keep charting number ones in the Top 100 and top 200. But their fanbase kept growing.
BTS hardships is a fan made video covering some of it th-cam.com/video/EdY6wnLsetQ/w-d-xo.html
But they don't address their haters in all the songs, only a few. Their lyricism extends to many topics, for example: socio-politics, socio-economic disparity in SK. National tragedies, corruption, generational problems, calling out entitled teenagers, calling out politicians, criticism to the education system in SK driving their youth to take their own lives, metal health issues, all human emotions have been covered but their very introspective songs, they have party songs as well, storytelling songs, conceptual albums... it is really a lot of themes covered by BTS.
