Multiplayer trophies should be either a separate list or have an alternate single-player unlocking method. Those damn trophies are what stopped me from platinum Assassins Creed Black Flag.
As a trophy hunter, if I can get a platinum in such a way that the last trophy is awarded on completion of the game, I will make sure that I get it that way. So satisfying!

I have never resonated more with one of your lists than this one Rob... Given that the last platinums i got was the ones for Persona 5 and Spider-man on PS4, i can identify myself in all these points! I absolutely love them, they don't require any real skills to get, and most importantly for me: I could get over 80% completion after just playing through them once! It's why i will GLADLY let all three games in the Mass Effect trilogy sit there, only needing the Insanity run to complete them all of them... It's not that i don't like you, and it's not like i don't want to complete you, it's just that my hatred for severely difficult playthroughs outranks my need to complete you... I play video games to escape my life, a game i'm already playing on the hardest difficulty, and to escape having to interact with unpredictable people. These are the two reasons why i don't like challenge or multiplayer. This doesn't have to be true, but try to look at what you seek in a game, and then look at how that is often the complete opposite of what your daily life is like! By no means is this universal, but my guess would be that it's true more often than people would like to admit...
I’m so close to the Persona 5 platinum trophy, gotta max every confidant, catch the pond guardian, defeat the twins, get every hangout spot, read and play every book and video game and finally, craft every infiltration tool
Hey, so what other platinums did you get since those? I just got the platinum trophy for Spider-Man and Persona 5, games that I really enjoyed. Since I’m new to the ps4 games, I’m looking for recommendations on fair challenges.
I just wish multiplayer trophies weren’t required for platinums. They need to be put in a separate trophy list in my opinion. Also...Rob, you think Crushing is hard? Try the remastered Nathan Drake Collection trilogy on the new Brutal difficulty. It makes Crushing look like the Moderate setting. And I have platinumed all the Uncharted games (except Golden Abyss, but that’s due to the complete RNG of the Bounty trophies...).
I detest any multi player trophies in games. Not only because most of them are too hard but eventually the multi player in a game will be shut down thereby making them impossible to get in the future.
or at least not put them into games that are mostly single player.... no digimon cyber sleuth and rayman legends platinum for me... and ghostbusters for ps3, why the heck did this need multiplayer to begin with? Oo
Don't know about separate category but should be more considerate to solo players. I don't mind grinding out a few character levels or playing 10 rounds of each game mode for instance.
You must truly be mad. I ONLY play on games on Hardest Difficultly. Yea, there's times I may find myself in the shower, curled up in the fetal position, crying my soul out. But it's ok though, because I actually find myself doing the same thing after I beat any game on the hardest difficulty. That feeling of gratification is rare yet, ooooooh so satisfying.
I am not going for plat when there's a multiplayer trophy . The most annoying thing when u play game that focuses on single but have multiplayer . Have a good day everyone :-)
@@dominicgamz3777 It is my third time starting a new save and I am using a guide (The sad part is I know which Trophies are going to ruin it for me. "The City Hard hitter" and "Guardian of the pond" I suck at both those mini-games)
Brilliant! The Uncharted 4 section is an exact representation of my attempt at Crushing difficulty. Tried the scotland encounter 20+ times with various strategies then accepted my fate and lowered the difficulty...
Trophies are a bad mistake, who care about them what do they prove? Really kind of sad people have been conditioned to believe they need a trophy to prove what?
Davart it’s just a way to have more stuff to do in a game you like and show your affection to others as Rob said, they are totally optional, I really don’t see how they could be seen ad bad? Multiplayer trophies are annoying when they are shoved in in a mainly SP game since many people playing it don’t care at all about the multiplayer aspect and actually see it as something separate (it is), sometimes they even can’t play it at all due to bad internet or because the servers shut down.
This whole list is exactly how I feel - no hard mode, no online, no fifth playthroughs, but I love love love slowly finding collectibles while listening to a nice audiobook or something.
I admire anyone with the patience to find all the collectables in big games without a guide. I tried finding all the Lucky Emblems on my own. I got to about 70. Then I spent about an hour wandering around Toybox trying to find the last one there and it broke me. (not helped by my "how was I supposed to figure that out?" moment when I caved and looked it up) KH3 is a joy to explore but I have my limits.
Same!! I found 80 out of 90 on my own. There was one Lucky Emblem in Toy Box that i couldn't find and when i looked it up. I had the same reaction as yours!! How am i supposed to find or guess something like that (Looking at you the one in the Dolls shop xD)!!
Just love the passion you put in to your work, I know the feeling.. a platinum is confirmation of a "game peace of art" in all spectre. Got my first in dark souls 1, and it wasn´t just a game, it was an experience, a journey worth making...
finally, a gamer-type that speaks to me. taking forever to tour/explore an area. picking up feathers/smelling flowers. taking time to enjoy the game and mad respect to people that can get plats with hard mode games. im just not the type who can finish dark souls-type games, on any difficulty
Gave you a like as a congratulations! I wish I could get it but my biggest fear of difficult platinums, like RE2's platinum, is my love for the game getting destroyed in the process.
I don't mind online trophies, just at the same time, wish they were counted outside of the core game for the platinum. Like with Diablo 3 for example, I got the platinum in that, but not all the dlc necromancer trophies. So they should be able to separate the online ones, so you can still get the platinum from core game, then keep those in as like, extras or whatever
I hear you, Rob, regarding multiplayer trophies. I'm one [multiplayer] trophy away from the platinum in Dragon Ball FighterZ and will never be good enough to get that.
@@scottnotpilgrim Thanks for letting me know! I'll have to go back and retry that then. Yeah, the 20 million zeni took me close to 100 hours or something ridiculous.
MAN! The speed run ones are the WORST! The trophy for RE1 called "Don't stop running" (beat the game in under 3 hours) totally put me off the plat. My initial playthrough was 16 friggin hours!
Final fantasy 9. If I remember correctly the only way to get excalibur is to reach a certain point in the game (near the end) within a time limit. Have you SEEN my save file of FF9 Squeenix?! It's almost 90 hours. That sword can stay burried. XD
Rafael Navarro If you are referring to the David and Golyat trophy from the Blood and Wine DLC (which I missed during my first playthrough as well), it might be useful to know that you can just select a new game mode from the menu in which you only play the DLC, as that trophy can be achieved during basically the very first encounter of said DLC. And besides, you don’t need to 100% the DLC in order to get the platinum.
@@martijnengelen897 I think he might be talking about the bring every possible ally to the kaer morhen, or maybe is something gwent related since some of the cards are missable
Red Danielle Oh my bad, but the worst case scenario is still that you would have to play this amazing game again. Hell, I’m replaying it for the 7th time right now! But ofcourse I understand that not everyone wants to put that much time in this game again (or perhaps isn’t able to) and indeed in that case it does suck.
True, I personally had a blast exploring everything in the game 4 times now, and somehow I always find something new. The only trophy that gave me trouble was the "kill 50 things by shooting them in the head" trophy, eventually got it after a couple of hours but GEEZ
That wasn't too bad. Only about 100 tries to master every little movement and it's all good. Plus a couple of very close but not quite tries that are literally heart breaking.
ReaperShadow wait what do you mean? that was one of the best trophy ever with the Mirror's edge catalyst and wipeout omega, pure skill agility, i love it
@@Reloreee For you. I'm not too good at the whole parkour shooting thing. Took some time and effort. It was awesome when i got it don't get me wrong, but damn.
Am I the only one who treats trophies like "if they pop up- cool, I must have done something cool. they mark progress too" and after I'm done with the game: "so, lets see what kinda % of the game I ended up doing or whatever." I don't take the trophies as grades in a sense, I take them as markers for my own overview of the game's content. If a trophy is a piss take, I just laugh and move on with my life.
My motto play the game first with story. Do the exploration in games like Tomb raider etc (check the trophies ) but first play through do not worry about missable trophies
I only go for the plat if it's relatively easy and not too time consuming. But I'm always checking the trophy list while I play to see what I can grab as I go through the game. After I finish the game very seldom do I go back and mop up trophies, if I don't get the plat...oh well...moving on.

I would love to plat FF9 and 10, but they had to make trophies for jump roping and lightning dodging. I took one look at the trophy list and knew that those platinums were never going to happen! 😫
*feels insane for having platinumed final fantasy vii, x, x-2, xii, xiii and xiii-2* now, skip rope...is the only reason i don't have the platinum for ix.
I'd love to platinum FFX..but all the trophies tied to blitzball just kill it for me..I haven't even gotten Wakka's attack reels because I'm at a stalemate with Al Bhed Psyches, my defensive players are too good for their offense, but their goalie doesn't even have to try to block my offense

I try and 1000G or platinum every game I play, so this video is right down my alley. I'm primarily an Xbox player, so I only have 18 platinum trophies for the purpose of this conversation, but specifically with PS try and focus on playing the exclusives I want, that are fun to platinum without breaking my old-before-my-years psyche. My conditions are 1) No more than 50-60 hours, unless it is a true masterpiece. I'd have played God of War or NieR: Automata for 100 hours, if I needed to, but generally, I agree with Rob - I'm 24, and I don't have countless hours anymore. I work 45 hours a week and am studying for my MBA, so I get MAYBE 2-3 hours a night in the week...IF I'm not doing anything. 2) I also agree that 2-3 playthroughs are kind of my cut-off point. An exception would be RE2, which I recently completed on Xbox, as it's only 2-3 hours a run after your first collectible run with Leon. 3) No death runs are a big no for me. One Shot on Alien Isolation took me 4 attempts, and bear in mind it's 8-10 hours per attempt. 4) Got myself in an OCD loop where if I've finished the series to date, or largely so, I need to max the new one. Metro: Exodus springs to mind, its my next game. I cam't have 2033 and Last Light done, but not do Exodus, right? 5) STOP (CLAP) PUTTING (CLAP) CO-OP (CLAP) TROPHIES (CLAP) IN (CLAP) GAMES (CLAP) WHERE (CLAP) THERE (IS) NO (CLAP) MATCHMAKING. Unless its complete 1 or 2 missions with a friend, which I can do via a forum, it influences my decision. It's not my fault I'm boring, and have the social aptitude of a platypus (maybe it is, but meh).
Agree on all of these except difficulty in some rare cases (I got Bloodborne’s platinum for instance, just loved that game so much). High five Rob! Good luck on your KH3 platinum, I am currently missing only 2 trophies to get mine :D Ps: I’d rather not have multiplayer trophies at all or at least them being completely separated.
Me too! I was surprised by how easy it was, to be honest. Before HZD I wasn't too bothered by trophies, but ever since I've wanted to try getting more platinums.
Adnan Sadiq - It doesn’t take that long for God of War’s plat. Maybe like 50 hours tops. Now if beatin’ the game on Give Me God of War was a trophy, it would take an eternity haha
Long time viewer - first time leaving a comment. Do I get a platinum for that?? As a gamer, I enjoy telling this anecdote to other gamers whom will likely understand what it means to earn that top level trophy on a game you have been sinking every available moment into. For me, my first platinum I EVER received, was on Skyrim. AND, it wasn't because I actively said to myself "I must beat everything in this game" - it was instead because I was so enthralled by the massive world that I naturally took my sweet time and explored everything. In fact, I hadn't even thought about the platinum at all until I found myself meandering through the menus and discovering, to my complete surprise, that I only had one trophy yet to earn before popping the ultimate platinum. Thirty minutes later, and after building a bounty in each of the main strongholds in the world, two trophies popped - one right after the other. My very first platinum trophy! I was elated - and somewhat embarrassed, really. The amount of hours I had in Skyrim, likely one of last generations largest games, and I had just earned the platinum trophy. My second ever platinum trophy? Fallout 3. The other largest game on the system... and you have to play through it three times...
I only really have two conditions; 1, I have to like the game (I know) and 2, all of the achievements must be possible to complete in single player. If the game has a multiplayer achievement I'm not gonna bother.
For me the trophies must be offline, and they must be doable for my skill level then I'll go for it and much like Rob, I must also love the game, then again I'd not buy the game if I didn't.
No hard online multiplayer, not extreme difficulty, no speedrun, no endless collecting over the entire map. This is for any achievement, not just platinums and not just playstation. My first platinum was for the latest spider-man game. Sure, you had to collect a few things, but you picked up like half of it if you just swinged through the city instead of constant fast traveling.
Honestly I would say hard difficulty is no go most of the time, the only one I did on the hardest is Spider-Man new game+ on ultimate but it was Spider-Man so I didn’t mind, since I only had to complete the storyline not all the side missions and objectives
That last entry is very much my PSN life with friends right now. I have one friend who will only play ridiculously easy games that no one has heard of that cross buy with the Vita so he can do them twice, he earned 57 trophies in 2018 alone. This year we have a wager on who can earn the best platinums by totaling up the Metacritic scores, so far I am winning because he has 6 platinums and I have 4 but 3 of the ones he has finished don't even have a score so he has 3 scores of 0% that's letting him down. Also the loser has to buy the winner a copy of Death Stranding so there is all of the marbles to play for.

@@elcinemanum13 exactly. I just don't think there should be online trophies as if you come back to the game years later, the servers will be dead. My first platinum was for Modern Warfare Remastered and that was a bitch to do. It has online play but no online only trophies and I loved that. The worst trophies were mile high club on veteran, beating infinity wards best time and completing the last couple of levels in veteran. That is my opinion on gaming trophies. If it has a single player campaign or story mode, multiplayer trophies shouldn't really be a thing. Games that are online only, that's fair game
Dude! You know I’ve been with you a while when you said relive topspin and Red Dead 1 and I knew exactly the 2 trophies you didn’t have lol. Always hope. HZD stealth trial slight of crate trial took me a year after the update to finally pick up and get it.
I agree and follow most of the rules you have mentioned. I made an exception for your second rule with Witcher 3 as I read that the hardest difficulty (Death March) had a slight learning curve but was very much manageable. It became the first game where I got the platinum without even finishing my first walk through, so glad that I took the plunge.
Definitely agree with the multi player trophies, but for me it’s if there’s any at all Difficulty and speed runs are ok in some games A stupid one for me though is if the game requires you to fish in game. I can’t stand fishing in game so it’s an automatic nope from me
1- collectibles trophies are the worst 2- finish the game more than twice (unless I'd a VERY good game for me, like dark souls) 3-multiplayer trophies 4-missable trophies 5-speed run trophies(there are some that I like tough, like shadow of the colossus, it's ok to me) 6-trophies that need multiple HOURS of gameplay 7-trophies that need insanely skills to achieve (devil may cry is a good one)
I hate playing games through multiple times, so I usually just crack a game on its hardest mode available. I most recently did this with Spider man and The Last of US HD. Whilst games usually have a much steeper learning curve or limits base game features (Such as meditation healing in Witcher 3...yep that gone in hard mode), you do get a very satisfying moment when you complete the game, and three trophies pop up. One after the other. Easy complete, Normal complete and Hard Complete. And if your manage the completion carefully around other trophies, maybe a fancy Platinum as well!
Honestly that first point especially about having to love a game to platinum it is exactly how I feel. I o my go for the platinum on the games I really love. It’s awesome to see other people feel the same.
I was never bothered about trophies until I realised I was 2 hours of fishing away from platinuming FFXV now if possible I like to complete the story and normal than slip into easy mode for the trophies
You should try to plat horizon zero dawn if you haven't great game has about 4 separate collectible trophies doesn't require hardest difficulty play through and is a generally fun game

Proudest - God of War Latest - Spyro Reignited (having not played the games back in the day) Total - Assuming collections are multiple, 14 since late 2016
Requirements 1. I must love the game 2.if it’s telltale games they don’t count (I will take the platinum but I don’t feel I earned it) 3. The achievements must be doable and not require luck 4. No primarily multiplayer games like Call of Duty or Apex legends 5. The game must be Amazing ( Like Bloodborne or Kingdom Hearts 3) 6. No hard mode requirements with exceptions of new game plus like with Souls Titles
My only rules are: 1. No multiplayer trophies. I draw the line at coop trophies (aka me playing with two controllers) 2. Replayability. Not a complete deal breaker if the game is short but if it was a slog to go through the first time it's going to take me a while to play again to get the trophies. Especially if it's going to take multiple playthroughs. If I need 5+ playthroughs, it's probably never going to happen.

I finally got my Persona 5 platinum after putting a little over 300 hours into it and I don't regret a single second of it
Hey, so what other platinums did you get since those? I just got the platinum trophy for Spider-Man and Persona 5, games that I really enjoyed. Since I’m new to the ps4 games, I’m looking for recommendations on fair challenges.
Is Persona 5 really that easy to 100% ? I was looking at the achievement list on steam and it looks pretty doable
That’s why you go for them first
or whats left people who play lots and know where the spawn points are
The worst ones are the ones that require your opponent /other team to be completely stupid or its impossible to fulfil what you need.
*cough* *ahem* Team Fortress 2 with its difficult if not impossible feats that can be gotten easier by sheer luck or enemy cooperation.
They should really separate multiplayer trophies into a separate trophy category.
Couldn't agree more
or at least not put them into games that are mostly single player.... no digimon cyber sleuth and rayman legends platinum for me...

First platinum for me was Infamous: Second Son

So judging by the rest of the comments, Online trophies are a damn mistake but gaming companies don’t care. 👌 good stuff.
Exactly
For the most same as your list although trade the difficulty one for luck based trophies
Such as winning a roulette or something
Winning three matches in a row on dominoes in RDR2
win with a royal flush in poker three times
I just got my 25th platinum yesterday. Also, I agree with every single one of these conditions.
A fine haul, congratulations! -Rob

1 down, 29 to go!
(not helped by my "how was I supposed to figure that out?" moment when I caved and looked it up)
KH3 is a joy to explore but I have my limits.

Got my first in dark souls 1, and it wasn´t just a game, it was an experience, a journey worth making...
finally, a gamer-type that speaks to me. taking forever to tour/explore an area. picking up feathers/smelling flowers. taking time to enjoy the game

Missable trophies are definitely the worst. Thanks for that, The Witcher 3

I don't take the trophies as grades in a sense, I take them as markers for my own overview of the game's content.

My conditions are
1) No more than 50-60 hours, unless it is a true masterpiece.
Good luck on your KH3 platinum, I am currently missing only 2 trophies to get mine :D

I am loving this channel. I am a big fan... RIP Delsin rodent. LOL
For me the trophies must be offline, and they must be doable for my skill level then I'll go for it and much like Rob, I must also love the game, then again I'd not buy the game if I didn't.
Waiting for ni no kuni. And there it is
No hard online multiplayer, not extreme difficulty, no speedrun, no endless collecting over the entire map. This is for any achievement, not just platinums and not just playstation. My first platinum was for the latest spider-man game. Sure, you had to collect a few things, but you picked up like half of it if you just swinged through the city instead of constant fast traveling.
Your conditions are like saying , give me a platinum for free. Trophies are challenges.
But Some games take it too far, and some are just a joke.
But I agree with you on multiplayer.
It's just pure bullshit.
Honestly I would say hard difficulty is no go most of the time, the only one I did on the hardest is Spider-Man new game+ on ultimate but it was Spider-Man so I didn’t mind, since I only had to complete the storyline not all the side missions and objectives
You don't need the new game+ trophy for plat, same as with Horizon.
Both games are easy and funny plats

My brother actually beat my high score at a AC Brotherhood's free running course by 1 millisecond. So I know how you feel :(
1- collectibles trophies are the worst
2- finish the game more than twice (unless I'd a VERY good game for me, like dark souls)
3-multiplayer trophies
4-missable trophies
5-speed run trophies(there are some that I like tough, like shadow of the colossus, it's ok to me)
6-trophies that need multiple HOURS of gameplay
7-trophies that need insanely skills to achieve (devil may cry is a good one)
I hate playing games through multiple times, so I usually just crack a game on its hardest mode available. I most recently did this with Spider man and The Last of US HD. Whilst games usually have a much steeper learning curve or limits base game features (Such as meditation healing in Witcher 3...yep that gone in hard mode), you do get a very satisfying moment when you complete the game, and three trophies pop up. One after the other. Easy complete, Normal complete and Hard Complete. And if your manage the completion carefully around other trophies, maybe a fancy Platinum as well!

Requirements
1. I must love the game
2.if it’s telltale games they don’t count (I will take the platinum but I don’t feel I earned it)
3. The achievements must be doable and not require luck
4. No primarily multiplayer games like Call of Duty or Apex legends
5. The game must be Amazing ( Like Bloodborne or Kingdom Hearts 3)
6. No hard mode requirements with exceptions of new game plus like with Souls Titles
My only rules are:
1. No multiplayer trophies. I draw the line at coop trophies (aka me playing with two controllers)
2. Replayability. Not a complete deal breaker if the game is short but if it was a slog to go through the first time it's going to take me a while to play again to get the trophies. Especially if it's going to take multiple playthroughs. If I need 5+ playthroughs, it's probably never going to happen.
