Adam, good video. You know this vacuum is still a beast. If they would do like shark and adopt LiDAR then put the j7 object avoidance on this same setup I would buy it. They need to think ahead because Roborock is quickly closing the gap on vacuum performance. Especially with their new dual roller brush design. Cool hack. I’ve been doing some testing on my S7maxv and with the factory brush it does terrible with hair on rugs/carpet. So I went on Amazon and bought a S7 brush that had been redesigned with the rubber fins and the standard bristle design combined. It works in my testing much much better on rugs/carpet than the factory brush. Cost $14 and included the new main brush, 3 filters, and 4 new mopping pads, and a hair cutter with a sensor duster. It was worth the price to test. I run it 100% of the time now. Oh and it has the removable ends like the factory brush. So it makes it easy to remove the hair. Bad part is it will collect a lot more hair so you have to check it more often. About once every week to 2 weeks.
This is actually kinda funny because yesterday i was at my next door neighbor’s and I got to use there Roomba s9+ that they have had for 1-2 year and it’s had its day specifically and I little scuffs but besides that it still works great and I saw you selling a few of your robots btw my neato D8 recently got an update and I was wondering if you can retest it
Irobot really needs to get a bigger battery on it's new flagship robot, also they need an updated mopping system, that washes the pads to keep up with the competition.
I almost bought the S9 Plus in December when it was on sale for $799, in the end I chose not to because I just couldn't justify that price for a robot that has been out for three years. I have all hard floors so I'm not sure that the S9 Plus could have cleaned those any better than the robots I already have. There are several areas where the Roombas really lag behind the competition. What Irobot should have done was to stick with the cleaning system on the S9 Plus, switch to Lidar for the main navigation and add the obstacle avoidance that the J7 has for those who want that feature, and include a large battery. If they would have done that they would have really had something awesome. But now companies such as Ecovacs, Roborock and Dreametech have really gotten ahead of them. When I send out my robots, I set them to clean twice if they have that option, or for those that don't, I send them out a second time, it takes about 80 minutes either way. With the Roomba J7, it takes three hours because it can't complete a two pass cleaning run for the whole apartment without going back to charge. Since I always run my bots on max power in order to clean as well as possible, I know this would have been much worse with the S9 Plus. I can't wait to see your review of the Roborock S8, how about letting it clean your entire floor plan on the highest power setting, and put that up against the Roomba S9 Plus on its highest power setting, that would be quite a battle.
It was great when it came out but crazy expensive, now it's very very outdated and still stupidly expensive. I can buy the roborock s7 maxv ultra for a cheaper price then the S9+
