I love the flags in front of the windows! I think that the felt house flags would look really cool hanging towards the back of the room like you described :)
@The Lettered Classroom AHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I need those harry potter triangle banners! They are awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hope you sell them in you tpt store soon! Thanks for the great ideas and advice Bridget. =D
You've inspired me to hang some flags and banners in my room! I've been so focused on planning my curriculum that I had planned on using most of what I had last year. But, because I teach multi age and have the same kids for three years, I think I need to mix it up! Thanks for the inspiration! If anyone's interested, I just posted a video about how I teach my first novel unit to my middle schoolers each year. :)
I have had those black stools for years and they have lasted. Sometimes the screws do get a little lose. They save space and stack well. Your room looks great.
Omg if you do this theme again what you could do is use your sorting hat and like put the houses in it and to do the seating arrangement by having them draw a paper outta the hat and have the flags over certain parts of your room that would be so cute
You are such an inspiration to me I remember telling you this previously.....sometimes with all that's going on in my life I feel like giving up on my dream especially when I struggle with Math 😑....but you and other teacher give me the strength to push myself to ensure that I achieve my dreams...thank you so much you have no idea how helpful you are to future Educators
I'm so glad you are doing 4th grade this year because I need tips as a 4th grade teacher myself! In particular I really need data binder ideas. Every year I try to get them done but I'm never pleased at how they come out. Can't wait to see your videos through out the school year!
I homeschool my kiddos, but I LOVE watching your videos! I get so many great ideas from you! I just wanted to let you know that homeschoolers, not only teachers, are getting great ideas from you!
Aww, Thank you so much! I have actually wondered a number of times if Homeschoolers were able to implement tips or even interested in the day to day life of public teachers. Thank you so much for sharing! I would love to hear what other homeschoolers think and what twists could be done to help it apply to more!
Your classroom is coming along so nicely. I just spent my first full day in my classroom setting it up and it is coming along. Your room is fantastic!!
Our first day of school is on the 29th (My Birthday) We can come in as soon as the floors get waxed. This year our rooms were ready at the end of July :)
I love your videos, vlogs and all. I get to go in my classroom next week, not a lot of working time till open house. look forward to all future videos.
Love your videos so much!! Please make a day in the life again because your day in the life of a kindergarten teacher inspired me to want to be a kindergarten teacher! Love you:)
I like the banners a lot! They look great! Your classroom is looking so nice! I wish u were close by to help me! I am going to second grade from Jr. High! I have been reading Daily Five and Cafe menu which has been keeping me busy! I will start setting up next week and then school starts the following week. Needless to say say I'm frazzled!
House flags in the back would look great. Either way, you're hard work is paying off. The classroom is really looking superb. Can't wait to see it all done.
Love your videos! I'll be done with my teaching degree in a little over a year! I would love to see a video that estimates all of the costs that were associated with getting your room ready!
Thank you for this inspiring video. You seem always to be so motivated an I love how your room looks like! I can't even decide a theme for my room - I just watch you working and I do nothing ;) Your new home seems to be nice, too. Do your sons like the new house? Sarah :)
Could you please do a video, or tell about data binders that you use for this grade level? I would LOVE to try this with my kiddos in grade 5! Your ideas would be much appreciated!!
I do a Periscope on ITeachTVNetwork channel (Tonight 8pm ET- Thursday 8/11) about Data Binders. Tonight I am going to be doing a Q&A version, since I am in the process of updating my Binders from Kindergarten to 4th grade! I would love you have you join!
Amazon has a Harry Potter door design that looks like it's a staircase...saw t on Tina Bietler's channel. I thought you were wondering what to do with the door...check it out - I think it would look very cool in your room!
Your classroom is huge ! , the bigger the classroom the more space to decorate ! 👍🏻 I love the set up , will you be sharing the room with another teacher or are you a teachers assistant ?
Thank you so much! My teacher partner has her own room across the hall and we will split the 48 students each rotation (Twice a day) I am not, nor do I have a TA...I keep hearing about them but I've never had one :)
I got those from Vera Bradley before I became a teacher. They were custom made to be part of the show floor and I bought them when they rotated inventory! I love them!
I have a Scotch, which I do like. Then again, I've liked most of mine in the past. The only one I ever had a problem with was the AmazonBasics version. www.amazon.com/Scotch-Thermal-Laminator-Roller-TL906/dp/B00CLV8ZIU/ref=sr_1_4?s=office-products&ie=UTF8&qid=1470875602&sr=1-4&keywords=scotch+laminator)
I really love watching your videos and always look forward to watching them! Sorry if this has been asked before but I was wondering if you would ever be able to make a video on your experience becoming a teacher? Like, what your college experience and student teaching experience was like? Maybe even offer some advice for people looking into teaching? :)
Oh my, yes this has been asked for quite a bit and I would love to do it, but I always end up filming something else or working bits and pieces in to other videos. (I answered some in both of my Q&A videos and some of it was covered in my Teach.com interview.) I will eventually get around to it, I just need to make the time. So that's kind of an answer....sorry.
Does your school have a laminator? or do you just like the thickness of yours? I know our school one is very thin. Lover your videos! People TRULY don't understand how much time money teachers spend on their classrooms.
Yes. Exactly as you said. It is very thin at school...and yes we spend a bit more than people realize. Thank you so much for watching and commenting! I see yours often, but I don't seem to get around to comment to say Thanks!
Hi I love watching your videos. I'm just wondering do you, or other teachers on TH-cam, ever feel resentful of the money you have to spend on setting up your classroom and throughout the year? I'm forever feeling guilty that I'm spending too much/too little on my classroom. Anyone else feel the same? You obviously have a supportive husband which is great :). Thanks xx
Thank you so much for watching! I think it would really depend on my school situation. If I was in a state with low pay and provided little to no resources, I can see feeling a bit resentful. BUT... [climbing on soapbox] ...Honestly it is all about our 'Choice's (Yes that is my word this year, but it answers this perfectly). I chose to be a teacher and I knew full well it would never make me financially rich. I also knew that many schools are underfunded, this is nothing new. I can't act surprised now when I don't have the funds. I was a teacher for 3 years as a single mother. I did not have a Library full of books, I did not have fancy shelving, I did not have flexible seating... I did not have a lot of things I wanted in my classroom. It also did not stop me from working long hours and setting aside a budget to begin to build my classroom over time and doing my best to inspire every last kiddo! We look at as giving back to our community, whether it is a Harry Potter classroom or providing snacks/supplies to students who may not be able to afford them. Yes, I do have an incredibly supportive husband :) He says that my passion is infectious and that he doesn't really have a 'choice'. To be honest, every year he wants to give back as much as I do.... which is why I married him. He knows what I love and my passion for teaching and giving back. I tell him that I really don't like his 'choice' of words :P .... this is going to be a long year! Have fun and have a great year!
I like the idea of the banners hanging from the ceiling!!
These vlogs are my favorite!!
Yay! I'm glad that they are going over well...I love to chit chat about everything teaching!
I love the flags in front of the windows! I think that the felt house flags would look really cool hanging towards the back of the room like you described :)
I agree with you!
Same!
I love this classroom. cute
I love your videos!! Thanks for sharing your classroom decorating process ❤️
Oh my I love it so much! And now it's fun to share with other teachers! Win Win!
I love how the class is coming along, girl!!! Stay motivated!
Thank you so much! All the kind words are sooo helpful!
Super cute classroom! Can't wait to see it completed.
So inspiring!
Thank you!
I love the banners and the whole Harry Potter theme! Thanks for the inspiration!
:) I hope you like the flags in tonight video! I'm so excited!!

Yay! Great to hear! I kind of assumed they would only last one year. I can't wait to get started! Thank you!

I completely understand. She is such an inspiration, love her videos.
I hope you do continue and not give up.
Your house is beautiful!

Thank you so much! When do you start?!? I'm so lucky that our school lets us in so early.
Our first day of school is on the 29th (My Birthday) We can come in as soon as the floors get waxed. This year our rooms were ready at the end of July :)
Can't wait for the day when I get to feel exhausted from setting up my classroom :) haha love your vlogs
It is sooo much fun!
I love your videos, vlogs and all. I get to go in my classroom next week, not a lot of working time till open house. look forward to all future videos.
Love your videos so much!! Please make a day in the life again because your day in the life of a kindergarten teacher inspired me to want to be a kindergarten teacher! Love you:)
Yes, I will sometime after Christmas most likely, once I have my feet under me :)
Of course:)
Thank you!!
Me encantan tus vídeos, los consejos e ideas que das, me han ayudado mucho en el diseño de lo que será muy salón de clases durante este ciclo

I love your videos
Thanks, Tim!!
I bought the same stools last summer. Mine lasted through a year of 2nd grade and just needed to have the screws and bolts tightened again.
Yay! I hope mine survive :)
I like the window the way you have it. The flags will block the natural light.
Love your videos! I'll be done with my teaching degree in a little over a year! I would love to see a video that estimates all of the costs that were associated with getting your room ready!
They have really cute little Harry Potter figurines and such at Barnes and noble right now, FYI!
Keep the flags you already put up! They are cute!
Great Video, and you're really beautiful! Enjoy the new school year!
Thank you for this inspiring video. You seem always to be so motivated an I love how your room looks like!
I can't even decide a theme for my room - I just watch you working and I do nothing ;)
Your new home seems to be nice, too. Do your sons like the new house?

looks good :)
I know your are super busy but when will the data binders files be up on TPT??? Can't wait!!

Maybe try and zip tie the stools. That's what I've seen teachers do once the break but maybe doing it before will prevent them from breaking.
where did you get those gorgeous chairs in the library area?
I got those from Vera Bradley before I became a teacher. They were custom made to be part of the show floor and I bought them when they rotated inventory! I love them!
Great job! What type of laminator do you have? Do you recommend it?
I have a Scotch, which I do like. Then again, I've liked most of mine in the past. The only one I ever had a problem with was the AmazonBasics version.

+The Lettered Classroom thank you!! I will be ordering one soon!
They have colored burlapish material at dollar tree.
OMG I'm sorry if you say this in the video but where is the carpet from in the library corner??? It's absolutely gorgeous!! Your room is amazing. :)
I love your videos so much!I CANT wait till I'm a teacher one day
Where did I get the supplies from? Did the school supply them because it looked like you didn't know what some of it was? ;)
This was a school supplied haul. Yes, it was a nice surprise!
Do you use a cricut Machine or some other type of diy cut machine to decorate?
Yes, I use a Silhouette for some of my projects.
I have it in My Favorites on my Amazon Store - astore.amazon.com/thelettclas-20/detail/B00OGCL00C
I think Tina Bietler is doing a Harry Potter theme on TH-cam too@

Put them on the ceiling and do flags on Windows
I would like to recommended the book Among the Hidden it is a dystopian book.
Hi ! Where did you get the big letters for your "choice" word?
Hobby Lobby!! I bought one letter every so often with coupons :)
Where did you get the paper for your Harry Potter banners?
The ones above the windows?
The triangle shaped ones
Do u have to pay for the school supplies?
In this video (the haul) I did not, they were supplied. It was a nice surprise!

Your library looks like mine :( Ugh it's my least favorite thing to do!
Yea....it will be last....
how many students you'll have?!
I have a partner teacher and we will split and rotate 48 students....so 24 at a time! But materials for 48.
