This is my 2nd time through. I did it in 2022 really fast. I’m taking it slow this time. I did the Catechism in 2023 & plan to do it again next year.

Reading the Bible in a year for the second time, still asking for wisdom, so much I don’t understand. I’m asking for prayers for a young girl, Kemper, a friend of our family who was killed in a horrific ski accident this week. I find it difficult sharing a peaceful message of Gods love to those who are in extreme pain and shock. The Chaplet of Divine Mercy is where I’m going daily.

Wow. I feel blessed. For several times I tried to go to a Bible study but didn’t get to do it…. Now I could do it in the comfort of my home, my own time and the luxury of taking time to understand it . This is a big blessing to me. Definitely worth my time ( instead of watching movies that some of them are junks)

Say to God vocally, ‘ in the name of Jesus, I forgive (name) for (offense). Continue repeating all the names in the same manner. Each time begin with ‘in the name of Jesus’. Then offer it all up to God and place your life in his hands. 🕊 🙏🏼 Go to confession and let the priest know this or make a meeting with your local parish priest for a spiritual direction meeting and mention this if it’s truly something you struggle with. It’s important to heal.

How wonderful it was the JOB offered sacrifice for his sons before they died- in case, in case they had sinned. Now they die and He would have had peace in that He had made that offering.

Tried so many times to read the Bible in several languages I speak, but somehow never took it serious enough. I just started Bible in a year, and I love it. I listen, read and pause when needed. Will be doing this for a year, and beyond. Great job, Father Mike.
This is the second time of reading the Bible in a year with FatherMike. I thank you for doing this. I also love your explanations after the daily readings. I learned so much last year but i have a long way to go and so much more learning. Thank you Father Mike for making this available to everyone. I can imagine how much time it takes to do the podcast. Greetings from Toronto 🇨🇦 My fiancé introduced me to Bible in a Year. Wow! What a blessing. Thank you Father Mike for bringing this to my life. It’s exactly what I needed to start each day with the Lord. I love your explanations. They are filled with much wisdom and thank you for sharing that. I feel part of a community, even though we are all on different days and don’t communicate or see one another.
My fiancé is on day 265 and I just finished day 6, but we talk about what we learned from Father Mike each day and it strengthens both of our lessons for the day even more. They are all connected and woven together and has allowed me to truly deepen my understanding and practice of scripture.
The pairing of the readings with Psalms and Proverbs is so helpful and shows me how to connect the lessons and messages together. This was something I always struggled with. I know in Catholic school our teachers and priests would do this, but I took this for granted at the time. Thank you for creating the schedule and for making it available to everyone! It feels just like I’m back in Catholic school again.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and don’t LEAN on your own understanding ( or anyone else’s ) it’s a matter of the heart! Trusting the Lord! Faith in Jesus! Who he is and what he accomplished! You become a child of God…heaven bound! Glory to God!

Just began this reading plan. Day 6 and the Lord arrested me at "The Lord gives and the Lord takes away. Blessed be the name of the Lord." My dear Jesus, make me only want Your will in my life and in the life of all your creatures.

Has anyone else noticed how long these souls mentioned throughout just the Bible up to the 6th days has revealed? It’s wild! God is great...🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
I am just a tad bit late. Actually more closer to a start for a new year and could have just waited. Though, I know I am exactly where I am meant to be. I am Christian and have been looking to know more of what God has to teach and I came across Father Mike Schmitz videos.
As I watched this video I came to the same thoughts. Abram lied and Pharaoh was punished and Job being faithful. Then Satan and God wagering on Jobs faith. Also God being so familiar with Satan. So I started to go down the rabbit hole. Then I prayed for guidance and this is what I have come to understand as I studied the scriptures more and reminded of things I have learned already.
I have learned along my journey in life that even if one is unaware of the sinful action. We still suffer the consequences of those sins. Furthermore, we have to go through the repentance process of those sins once we are aware of them.
Abram lying to the Pharaoh but being blessed with riches. How many times have we been just like him. We may not have lied in the same manner. At times in our paths we even with faith do not put our full trust in the Lord. Then we take our own actions in our path instead of asking for more clarification from the God of what he wants us to do. Though our actions even in sin if we rectify them and always strive to be faithful. That we like Abram can have so many great attributes to us and we are doing all we can. We are flawed though we will be blessed.
Job being one of the greatest examples of having unwavering faith. How many times have we had losses, trials and great suffering but we stay true. Just because we have unwavering faith dose not mean we will not suffer.
There are many times God speaks to Satan in the Scriptures. The word Satan means "adversary," and Devil means "accuser, slanderer." That's what Lucifer now has become to everyone who wants to serve. Satan is our accuser and Jesus Christ is our advocate. Still to this day that Jesus Christ is the advocate for those who Satan accuses and Slanders.
We have so many examples here on earth where Satan will accuse and slander through the unfaithful against the church (regardless the religion). The faithful know through Jesus Christ as an example and advocate. The Holy Spirit to guide us, the scriptures and all that God gives.
Now this may not be right but that is what I have taken through my studying the scriptures more. As I said I am not a member of the Catholic Church but looking into it.
My prayers are with you and Kemper's family, Patti. I am also doing this Bible study again. Always trust in the Lord. In good times and bad times, He will always be there with you. ❤️🙏🏻✝️

Congrats on year 3. I am beginning year 4 of BIY and today’s readings bring me comfort
and hope. Each day there is some message from the readings or Father Mike’s commentary that touches my heart. I had extensive back surgery September 15, 2023 and have a year of therapy ahead with hopes of walking without a walker. BIY and all of your prayers got me
through the pre- surgery years. Let’s keep those prayers going for each other. God Bless

3 times around and Job sounds so new to me, in my trials and pains i have cried out wny why? and i have gotten angry with the Lord , I have been a horrible follower but yet my Merciful God never left me, He was there all along but my evil mind keeps distracting me. oh Lord i am sorry, please forgive me.

Wow, I am excited to start the book of Job, I have heard many great things about this book but I have never read it until now.
I appreciated your analysis of how the stories of Abram and Job both show God-fearing men who maintained their faith in God in the face of trials.
In Genesis Chapter 12, God promises that Abram will create a great nation which we will start to see in the rest of the Bible. I was confused by Abram allowing the Pharaoh of Egypt to marry his wife Sarai but I suppose it is better than being killed. The story of Abram and his nephew Lot divvying up the land is a good example of Abram's faith as he decides not to worry about the land he will receive. I would probably have fought for the better land in that situation but I could see how strife in the family would result in bigger problems (family is more important than property). Abram's faith appears to be rewarded as God promises him numerous offspring.
In contrast, Job's faith is seriously challenged. As he loses all of his riches and children while his body decays, he is presented with the temptation to reject God. I can't even imagine losing nearly my entire family all at once, it is very inspirational that he managed to keep his faith in spite of such a tragedy. I pray that if I ever suffer in such a way that I will keep my faith.
The results of these situations can be summarized by Proverbs verse 7: "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge." Abram and Job managed to push through their struggles with their incredible faith. I pray that I can become God-fearing and keep my faith when I suffer.
