    This was another scene that used Anthony Hopkins' score for the piano rather than what was used in the movie. He wrote and performed this. Beautiful piece. I don't remember the reason why they remove this and replaced it.

    • @coreyristic9234
      @coreyristic9234 4 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      Katie Wayman It was removed for two reasons. First the producers wanted Lecter playing the Goldberg Variations. Second, Ridley Scott didn’t think anyone would remember Jack Crawford from Silence of the Lambs. That’s why the letter was shortened.

    This scene is amazing. She really should have been in the movie. The composition in the background is so relaxing and emotional. The voice of the Doctor Lector while reading the letter and the music blended into each other.

    I can't explain how comfortable and relaxed hearing Sir Anthony Hopkins reading this beautiful letter makes me. I honestly read it frequently. I wouldn't be exaggerating if i said at least once a month i search for the text online and then i come here to hear it on youtube.

    This is such a beautiful scene, I had to wonder why they cut it. The only reasons I can think of is that it is a bit jarring going from this slow, artistic scene into the creepy suspense when Clarice picks it up and realizes who sent it. Also, we wouldn't get to sit down with Clarice while she reads it and has the Doctor's voice in her head. Considering half the movie has them separate, the final cut way with her reading the letter helps connect them.

    • @zzevonplant
      @zzevonplant 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They didn't actually cut the scene, this scene is in the movie, the music is just different.

    • @zzevonplant
      @zzevonplant 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Also, in the finished version that's in the film, it cuts in and out with Clarice reading the letter.

  • @ricardocantoral7672
    @ricardocantoral7672 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    The letter in the book was much better. Here, Lecter was just being nasty to Clarice. In the novel, his ultimate point was that Clarice was being excoriated by the peanut gallery. What mattered was she did right.

  • @LS-oq3qh
    @LS-oq3qh 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    I personally think that Ridley Scott should have not cut this scene because this beautifully shot scene shows us that Hannibal Lecter is at the same time a horrible serial killer and a good creative music composer.

    Sevgili Clarice,
    Kamusal aşağılama ve itibarsızlaştırma konusunda sana yapılanları büyük bir dikkatle izledim. Benimkisi beni, özgürlüğümün elimden alınması dışında asla rahatsız etmedi, ama bakış açında eksiklik olabilir. Hücreme geldiğinde yaptığımız konuşma, ölmüş olan gece bekçisi babanın değer sistemin üzerinde önemli etkileri olduğunu görüyorum. Bence seni en çok sevindiren başarın Jame Gumb'ın (Buffalo Bill) terzi olarak kariyerine son vermekti çünkü baban bununla gurur duyardı. Ama şimdi ne yazık ki F.B.I'daki saygınlığını kaybettin. Babanı hayal kırıklığına uğrattığını ve onun güzel çam ağacından yapılma tabutunda senin başarısızlığından ötürü paramparça olduğunu düşünebiliyor musun? Umut vaat eden bir kariyer için ne hazin bir son. Aşağılanmanın en kötü yanı nedir Clarice? Anne ve babanı utandırmak mı? Yoksa en büyük korkun o insanlar hayatları boyunca süprüntü ve pislik olarak yaşayacaklarına inanmaları mı? belki de senin de öyle. Bu arada fark etmeden geçemedim F.B.I'ın oldukça sıkıcı olan sitesinde, arşiv bürosundaki sıradan suçlulardan çıkarılıp, daha tanınmış, en çok aranan 10 kişi listesine terfi etmişim Bu bir tesadüf mü? yoksa davaya geri mi dönüyorsun? Çünkü bu yapmacık bir iyilikse emekliliği bırakıp tekrar sosyal çalışma hayatına dönmeliyim. Seni zemin katındaki karanlık odada bilgisayarın ve kağıtların üzerine eğilmiş şekilde hayal ediyorum. Haklı mıyım? Lütfen doğruları söyle özel ajan Starling. Sevgilerle, kadim dostun Doktor Hannibal Lecter.
    Not: Belli ki bu yeni atama senin seçimin değil, sanırım yaptığın anlaşmanın bir parçası, fakat kabul ettin Clarice. Görevin benim sonumu hazırlamak. Sana ne kadar şans dilemeliyim bilemiyorum, ama çok eğleneceğimiz kesin Ta-ta. H.

      @@andreanicolas9363 I'm late, but when I was in the 9th grade, my art teacher made us learn this as part of the semester's lesson. We had to buy calligraphy pens from Dick Blick, a set of nibs, and a jar of ink. And we had to write paper after paper of letters and words until we got it right, and without errors. Too many errors, F on the assignment. Once it is finished, the final paper you write looks like this. It takes a lot of practice to master
