Because of you and your channel my love for reading elevates that i almost want to reconsider my change of path but it turns out i can learn literature and appreciate them while i pursue my own journey as future lawyer, books balance my life from being stressful to comfort because the solitude i do when im all alone with my books hits different it's like im on a different planet especially when i read dickens, rilke and my recent frankeintein which comes from your recommendations , more power to your channel and i know you will be more in the area of literature
I feel the exact same way. I'm studying political science and love to read and study books but I always thought that all my time would have to be devoted to studying the law. But fortunately, I can study both because I found out that I could satisfy my requirements with both literature and political science classes! Good luck to you in your academic journey!
Hi Emmie! I really resonate with your "aimless jellyfish" feeling. I graduated last year with my Masters in English lit, and God I miss school so much. After graduating, I fell into a pretty deep depression because I had no idea what to do with myself. I couldn't read, I couldn't write, I just couldn't do any of the things that gave my life meaning. I felt so useless! I think the problem was that school/being a student was my entire universe and then suddenly it wasn't. My identity from 6 years old to 24 years old was inextricably linked to my life as a student. Without school, I had no idea who I was. I am just now coming out of that funk (I still have my days), and things are much better. My advice to you is to try and do the things that you love every day; do those things even if you feel aimless and bleh. Cultivate who you are outside of school, and let that Emmie grow and flourish. You can't stay in shool forever (as much as I wish we could), so the time is coming when school is no longer who you are or what you do. Don't be like me and get blindsided by the loss of school, be ready for that new chapter in your life. I love your videos and congrats on being done for the year! From one jellyfish to another :)
wow! I can't believe there is snow still on the ground! ❄️ Insane! It's the middle of the year! LOL Yay for getting things done, taxes, finals, and reading! 🍄🌹 Hope you have an awesome Mother's Day with your mom and grannie emma! xoxo 🥰
The Name of the Rose is a fantastic book, yes, it is a murder mystery - I also have the same edition! There is also a great film based on the book starring Sean Connery and Christian Slater. Another fantastic book by Umberto Eco is called “Baudolino”, which is a fantasy-medieval fiction about utopian/dystopian ideas. Enjoy!
after i finished my master's a couple months ago, i had a panic attack almost every sunday and thursday (the nights when i had assignments due) feeling like i wasn't doing enough. post-term/post-graduation burnout is real! the best thing i could do was just take deep breaths and try to remember hobbies i enjoy. it feels insane to actually be reading for fun again instead of just for assignments. hang in there, it gets easier! :) thanks for the vlog
I relate to this incredibly so. I just finished my Honours degree last year, and this post-graduation burnout has been around since December. I am slowly starting to find my feet but motivation is low, and what is worse my anxiety at having nothing urgent or "significant" to do is gnawing. Thanks for the comment!
I can totally relate to your feelings after finishing your exams! It's funny how, when we are doing our exams, we have at least a thousand plans about things to do after the exams, but when they are finally done, we aren't really able to do anything. I think that studying, provided you're really passionate about the subject, can give you a sense of purpose.
Your videos are so calming and comforting. I love writing but I recently lost my motivation to write I don't know why. I just lost the motivation to create something. I feel okay about myself that it's not only me. I really hope you feel better soon. Sending you love and strength.💗✨
I don't know why but I had a visceral reaction to seeing the moss in the tombstone engravings, I absolutely love moss and could talk about it for hours but seeing in the cracks of the stone that serves as a reminder for someone's life brought some feeling of comfort or another feeling I can't describe. The earth has claimed this person and brought them into her fold.

As an Italian I’m proud of you for picking up The name of the rose. I’ll say at first it was kind of difficult to understand everything, especially the language ( in Italian it’s quite sophisticated), but then, as I continued reading it I feel in love with the writing style and I got more and more involved in the story. Really recommend reading it.

Try the movies - 1986 - The name of the rose; 1977 - The Dualists (based on short novel by Conrad); 1975 - Barry Lyndon (after Thackeray's book). Also Tess by Hardy - there are several TV adaptations
Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain was a book that helped me a lot. If you're reading Name of the Rose, I may pick it up. I've had it forever but haven't read it. Toni Morrison is the GOAT. Can't wait to hear the rest of your American lit syllabus.
Hello Emma! I live in Saint-Petersburg and we have the same climate and crazy 😜 spring as yours. I mean weather, let’s keep other crazy things behind the scenes.
In Washington state where I live we have had this same kind of crazy weather, 78 degrees one day three days later we have 2 feet of snow. Sunny again and the next day thunderstorms, it’s been a weird spring.
Oh, I am totally excited for Name of the Rose, going to borrow a Kindle copy through my library soon. Also have Foucault's Pendulum on my radar, but that one would probably have to wait a while. Lol.
I would love to know your thoughts about The Name of the Rose whenever you get the chance to read it, Emma. I had read and heard great things about the story and finally read it in 2020, but sadly it was not for me. Love your vlogs!🧡
Find out if those professors and your dad enjoyed the movie adaptation of "In the Name of the Rose" (Jean-Jacques Annaud, 1986) starring Sean Connery and Christian Slater. Aimlessness and lack of motivation.... the default mode of adulthood, which is why hobbies and a rich inner life are important.
What you said from 12:21 to 13:00 is just what I'm going through rn. I have completed the very last exam of my school life. I'm waiting for results to come out. I should be celebrating but I can't get myself to do anything I planned for this time :((
Who sings the song where you and Eevee are playing on the pitch? In a book I was reading one chapter was devoted to the set up of the library in The Name Of The Rose, and to Tolkien's world of books in middle earth. The one anachronism in Umberto Eco's work is that the mediaeval library was a smaller affair in reality, with less books and manuscripts.Beautiful vlog!❤️

Our smart and beautiful literary consultant always delivers the great analysis.
In Washington state where I live we have had this same kind of crazy weather, 78 degrees one day three days later we have 2 feet of snow. Sunny again and the next day thunderstorms, it’s been a weird spring.
I can't wait to hear what you think of the name of the rose!!! it's fantastic

I was also always that person checking for my grades to appear obsessively. Don't feel bad.
Liked for the Globe Theatre tea pot
aaaaa i'm italian i'm so happy that you bought the name of the rose!
Thanks for sharing Emma❤️
I can't believe your weather lol! Where I live in BC, it's just been about 10°C and raining for the last month or so
The round wood thing would be great for a charcuterie board. Or fruit & cheese / vegan cheese board since I’m pretty sure you don’t eat meat
Beautiful day to try again
I absolutely love your vlogs! Love to see you playing with Evie, she's so cute! Emma, The Name of the Rose is fantastic, i really hope you liked it. Ciao sweetheart! 💖✨
Hi Emma, I've subscribed to you since 40k but this is my first time commenting. Love your videos, can't stress how much it has helped me, as someone who doesn't have many book lovers around to share book love with!
I just wanted to pop in a quick recommendation, I'm not usually one for YA romance but I've recently listened to the audiobook of by Adrienne Young and loved it so much. Then I found out the audiobook narrator (Emma Lysy) is the same person who narrated , so I thought this might call to you.
All the love from South Korea 💗
