ive been having one of the roughest mental breakdowns right now. im so glad i find escape and calmness in your videos. you've saved me multiple times now. thank you for doing what you do, lovely emma.
❤️ if you want to tell us what is going on and vent a little know that you can. You don’t have to though, even if you don’t know that we think of you and are with you. ❤️❤️
Emma! That history lesson that no one asked for was awesome! I was laughing so hard and learned a few things. If you ever feel the want to do that again, please do. Sending love, Reyna
I’m currently studying my life away for the MCAT (medical school entrance exam) so I relate to the stress of exams so much right now. I wish you and everyone else the best on their upcoming exams. We’ve got this 💜
Whenever that stress comes, just remember one day you'll have a farm somewhere full of animals and books. Who knows! Maybe you'll even have your own indie bookstore.
girl u r on FIRE! this past week u've been posting so much! it makes me so so happy! hope u r making time to take care of urself too! :* wish u all the best
Emmie, this may seem absolutely random but I have to thank you for showing your bus route on this vlog. I lost my car two years ago and I don't make enough money to even pay my bills, let alone buy a new car. So as of lately, I've been taking the bus to work. For some reason, this brought me a deep sense of shame and isolation. None of my coworkers or friends have to take the bus so I have felt very alone. This has contributed significantly to my depression, so seeing you also taking the bus really brought me some relief. Thank you. I appreciate you and always love your content. Keep it up, girlie ♥
'When the evening is spread out against the sky, like a patient etherized upon a table.' What I like most about that metaphor is that it perfectly describes the setting even though it's impossible to make a one-to-one correspondence.
You're videos have been so comforting these last few episodes. So calm, so gentle, but also dealing with real life feelings. Very relatable. Thank you.
The Body Keeps the Score is one of the best books to read about trauma impacting you physically. Trauma and Recovery by Judith Herman is not a bad read at all - but also kind of dated at this point so I wish they could release a newer version.
my mom is getting her grad degree in marriage and family therapy, and this was one of her assigned readings for her trauma class. she let me borrow it, and i agree- it’s very good, 10/10 recommend.
no joke you just posted and out of NOWHERE it started to snow like crazy in NYC what the heck! 🥰❄️ Emma is a Tempestarii, a Weather Wizard y'all LMBO! and just when I thought we wouldn't be getting anymore beautiful snow! so excited to watch, Carolyn just posted about an hour or so ago with some book mail too! 📚 hahaha. YES The Body Keeps Score, I heard it was reeeeally good, I also have that on my reading shelf. I got it in 2020 still waiting to be read! LOL
Emmie! Thanks for providing us with so much content this past week, your hard work doesn’t go unnoticed 💜 Visiting your channel is always such a pleasant experience, this little nook of the internet is my personal comfort space lol
The namiya general store book was one me and my friends read on our book club and to this day I still think about the characters on the most random moments. I think you will really enjoy it
Watching this is so weird for me bc I live in california and the weather here never goes under 60 and when it does I complain its cold. I'm glad you're powering through your stressful week!
I've been having one of the roughest weeks. I'm so glad you've been posting so much this week, I've really needed the comfort! Thank you! Hang in there, you're doing great! 🍵🕯🪴
Emma! I was just watching yesterday's vlog! You just made my day...I have been struggling mentally for a long time and your vlogs are making me happy...THANK YOU!
Miracles of the Namiya General Store is such a cozy book. I think I'm going to reread it now. Also, just favorited ekhn's Etsy store and added all the other books you mentioned to my TBR.
Immediately bought The Stationery Shop omg that is such a beautiful book. I swear discovering Emmie’s channel, I think I’m gonna be buying more books 😭 She reminds me sm of Ruby Granger whom I used to watch!
After reading A Castle In The Cloud, i have been stuck for awhile and not reading any book because how the book made me (stop and proceed to stare at the wall) but that book called Miracles of the Namiya Store look so beautiful and just give a weird warm sensation through my phone screen. Ok, i just got another great book recommendation from another Emmie's fans. Thank you and have a great day everyone☺
I was literally thinking about you few minutes ago . I was about to start reading The symposium, brought it from book fair few days ago cause you recommend it . Also Your videos never fails to give therapeutic vibes in someway . Thank you for existing .
I had midterm exams this week as a third-year theology major and I am really grateful for your simple cozy content. It keeps me inspired and motivated. I feel your pressure with all the work and required readings sister sue. You really are doing so so wonderful. And if this helps at all, I am really really proud of you for balancing you university work and also things that you love. Its hard, I get it. I am praying for you love!
The Hummingbird's Daughter is one of my favorite books, Emma. It is based on Urrea's real relative. He researched her life and interviewed relatives. I have had the pleasure of hearing him talk a few times.
Yay, I’m glad The Hummingbird’s Daughter made it to you. It is among my favorite books filled with so many unforgettable characters. I sent you Pedro Paramo too before I saw that you just received a copy. Please feel free to pass it along to someone you think would like it.
Every time I can’t silence my heart to read I watch your video to remind myself the joy of reading and how it can change one’s life. Thank you Emmie, love from Hong Kong
I, Claudius is a fantastic book. I had a real Robert Graves phase in my 20s. I read everything of his and about him I could find. The BBC TV series based on the book, starring Derek Jacobi as Claudius is an absolute classic. It's still one of my favourite books. I did the English Civil War as part of my history degree. A fascinating period. You can argue that the American War of Independence was the English Civil War finished. Also there's a quote from Cromwell dismissing the Rump Parliament - "You have sat too long for any good you have been doing lately … Depart, I say; and let us have done with you. In the name of God, go!" - that has echoed down in British history. It was used again by Leo Amery in the 1940 Norway debate, although this time aimed at Neville Chamberlain. It was one of the key moments in the debate. Apologies for the long comment.
I totally get that restless feeling! I am in the middle of three long term projects for school plus studying for tests and I have no clue how much time to devote to one part at one time! Since they can’t be completed/shouldn’t be completed in a couple of days I feel like I’m spreading myself so thin trying to work on each piece at a time. This is my second to last semester and I am feeling it… good luck with your essay and finals!!!
The Body Keeps the Score is amazing, completely changed how I understood memory and trauma. Oswald's Memorial I need to pick back up, I was enjoying its balance of brutality and lyricism before I got distracted and stopped reading for reason. Lovely video!
Your videos are such an inspiration and an motivation! I'm a Portuguese/English student and you help me so much to stay active and curious ♡ thank you so much! Love your videos!
I've read an annoted and illustrated version of The Phantom of the Opera last year and it was amazing! The marine dress in the beginning of the vlog has Kiki's vibes, loved it! 💖✨
Due to the pandemic restrictions and the Qld intense floods, I've felt very disconnected from my uni this past month, not even able to visit my old beloved library, or dropping by my professors office to talk. Watching your videos makes me feel connected to that part of my life which I love so dearly, and it just excites me and puts me in such a creative and reading mood each time! All the best with those exams, Emma! You've got this ✨✨
There's actually a tv series called I Claudius! My Latin teacher in high school used to let us watch it. You should definitely read the book then watch the show.
Hey Emmie! I’ve been really enjoying your videos lately. You are part of the reason a i’ve been able to make the finally push to commit a lot more time to reading. I’ve read 23 books so far this year which is possibly more than I’ve read all my life. Also you reminded me about The Body Keeps The Score. I will be reading it along with you!
It makes my day every time you post a univlog/life vlog, I am studying comparative litterature in Denmark and I can relate so much to everything you say and read. And your vlogs are so cozy and comforting
when I tell you I NEEDED one of your videos today for comfort 🥺 fellow uni student here, hi from Scotland! (actually, I'm from Slovakia but I'm doing my degree in Scotland haha). Btw World of Books is a UK online second hand bookshop😊
Great video, Emma. The Stationary Shop seems particularly interesting because I don't know of too many novels in English set in Iran under Mosaddegh. Really cool
i love it when you post frequently!! and thank you so much for all this content even when you have to focus on uni too like i truly appreciate all the work you do and it doesn't go unnoticed! I hope you're having a beautiful day🤗💜
YES! Essays absolutely haunt me until they are handed in. Thanks for sharing your day, your process, and just know you’ll get through it! I hardly remember any essay I wrote for my English degree now. (That’s good, right? 😅)
i just love seeing content from other Canadians and feeling validated about suffering through our brutal winters :') you know it's march in canada when 4 degrees feels warm lmao
Omg I just studied "Mémoires d'Hadrien" last week in my Historical Fiction class! It is a very interesting book - made me want to study Classics. I'm not sure how interesting it would be to read but it was very interesting to study - if you're interested, look up the style of writing she created in order to write about Classics :)
i get that feeling too mostly a week before my math exam, i can’t focus on anything else except how i’m going to do it, what kind of questions the teacher might add and that is so stressing and can’t get it out of mind
3 videos in 1 week? you've blessed us with so much content omg, thank you so much. I have been revising everyday for a competitive exam in my country and Korean classes as well, and your videos always bring me comfort during breaks 💕💖 Also wanted to let you know that I've received & started reading Seasons in Hippoland by Wanjiku wa Ngugi which you mentioned in a recent video!!
Less than two days left for my literature exam and I have to study a lot of topics yet, so... Sending good vibes to everyone who's also going through this, we can do it 💓

Hi, Skylar. I'm sorry you're having a difficult time. I hope you're starting to feel better ♥️
❤️ if you want to tell us what is going on and vent a little know that you can. You don’t have to though, even if you don’t know that we think of you and are with you. ❤️❤️

Heavy mental strain, fatigue, low spirits, wet cold weather all upset our mental balance.
Everything only seems meaningless. With sleep, nutritious food, friendship, laughter, fun and games, the interior balance is restored.
