- Hey y'all! Welcome or welcome back to my little corner of the Internet where I talk about whatever I want.
Today, I am watching and reacting to Maximum the Hormone's new song, Koi no America.
Maximum the Hormone is a Japanese metal band, but I like to describe their style more as "what if ADHD was music?"
Join me as I witness the chaos and try to figure out what the song is about.
You can also enjoy watching me fail to read Japanese and make a fool of myself! :D
"The ADHD of music" An awesome description I have to remember! 🤣 I'm so glad MTH are back, and they don't seem to have lost any of their 'slightly' crazy charm. 🔥🤘🏻 And somehow I have a feeling I'm not the only one who wants a complete 80's version with 'Nao Knight' alone of this song. 🤭
Greetings from Germany. 🙋🏻♂

Right? Thank you! 😃
Considering that the lyrics refer to the America of my dreams(Akogare No America) and dreams of America(Yumemita America), I think the concept of the song is "an assortment of my favourite America" as experienced by the vocalist when he was a little boy and started playing music. And I thought the first lyrics sounded like Venus and Peanuts.
I am absolutely terrible at catching lyrics while listening (in any language) so thank you! 😃
I also thought peanuts for a bit too!
I thought they were saying, “Peanuts, peanuts, America san no peanuts (peanuts made in America.)” 😂 I can catch only small parts. But I hope it’s friendly and doesn’t have too much political meaning… just coz all my friends and family I have here are American, and I love them. Also, I think they shouldn’t block reaction videos… TH-camrs definitely support their popularity. They should rather appreciate the reactors. 🤘
@@SKC-TJ Hahaha I hope it's peanuts too!
I have a bunch of American friends here too! :D
Feed Us, Feed Us, America Must Feed Us.😂

11:05That moment when you realise this song was released on August 6th - Hiroshima atomic bomb - and the lyrics are something like... "Please do not drop it again because it hurts everyone"
At the end of the song, the doll says, "Please don't drop it, it'll hurt everyone."
This must be about the atomic bomb.
Oof. I didn't notice that!

I think that it is worth considering thinking that this robot's delivery was August 6, and the robot without arms "is not painful anymore, and it is painful"
This is the first time to hear the ADHD of music to describe their music, I love it from Japan
I don't know what to say........ , It's amazing, I'm listening everyday (^_^)
I don't there is any racism undertone in this, the song is about America and they just filled it with every stereotypical American thing from the start classic Van Halen-like rock riff to modern american pop aesthetics and the whole American flag shirts and aviator sunglasses, the Cheerleaders dancing, the latin influenced parts, the reference to American metal with dimebag darrell (with his signature guitar during the guitar solo part). it's all just American stuff, it's not a thing that japanese think all foreigners are Americans lol
As for the meaning of the song there is clearly a deeper meaning behind the humour but until the lyrics are droped no one actually knows, even Japanese people are confused what the song is about lmao
You're probably right! The scene that made me react like that was the bar scene where I thought they were presenting Americans as huge and overly friendly. It reminded me of Japanese skits representing foreigners.
Thank you!

The vocalist is 5 feet 6 inches tall.
So, did you ever look at the lyrics, which I think finally came out in November? Peanuts!
Yeah!! They were innocent after all 🤣
whats cool is that girl (nao kawakita) is the older sister of the guitarist (ryo kawakita)
Aww siblings love! Similar to Halestorm!
I appreciate your insights on the fashion.
Thank you!
ADHD of music is spot on. Love the heavy metal riff segments & the Latin cutaways are humorous. I'm a big fan of Prong (heavy/industrial/thrash) metal so the heavy riff parts are the best (imo). This is my 1st intro the MTH so time for a dive. Any recommendations for heavy riff songs? Thanks Shira and love the Barbie look🥰
My personal favorite is これからの麺カタコッテリの話をしよう. It's SO good! But their most famous song is probably What's Up People! Since it was the opening song for Death note. :)
Fantastic! Love them both. The album with What's Up People! is SICK! Love it Shira!@@easyfunkycrazy
I think they were going with stereotypes of America - musically, lyrically and visually. That can seem vaguely racist but I'm not sure they're being serious. The overly friendly but obnoxious American is a common stereotype, and I did find that bit funny. I know some lovely Americans, and stereotypes shouldn't be taken seriously. Good and bad people in every country. It's just that everyone feels the influence of America, which you can't say about other countries such as Belgium. So everyone has an opinion on the US and it's often a mixture of love and hate. That's as much sense as I've made out of the song anyway. Like with their music I don't really know what's going on.
Always think they should rename themselves - MAXIMUM THE TANGENT !
Venus, Peanuts, Penis, and Feed us, MTH means all of these in this song, I guess.
MTH are just legendary. I'm really jealous of you, would also like to see them live.
So you like Barbie. Do you know the Barbie song from Nanowar of Steel? If not, then make sure to check out the music video, just brilliant.
I was thinking of checking out a Nanowar of Steel song soon! (I know the big ones, so I wasn't sure which to do). Now I know there's a Barbie one, I know for sure. Thank you!!!
Barbie with the atomic bomb? Are you guys going nuts?
I know right. Wait til Ryo gets hate for his t.shirt as well. (Imperial Japanese Army Flag. WW2 so many especially The Koreans and Chinese hate it.) Personally i think its a kl flag.
@@jeff110373
it is a traditional flag of japan
no problem
@@kakuryudou yes it is. Unfortunately some associate it with the Imperian Army Flag. Which again i think is BS but i cant tell others what to think. I am bad enough myself. And ive never had a problem with it. Personally i think its a cool as f design. Was Just saying wait for some BS about it. You know someone will moan.
Do you want a shovel for that hole you keep digging yourself into? 😅
Nah, I'll just use my nails, thanks 😅
