    I'm glad this video exists. If it didn't I'd have given up already. I've been grinding for hours and I'm still not able to get it there. RCV really needs to do something to help this install process.

    Looks like a well built vehicle. Can we get a video showing the details of the build? I'm researching a coilover change for my CJ5.

    I have a Ford hp Dana 44 with Chevy high steer knuckles. I really wanted to get rcvs with the Chevy outers but I feel like it would be an absolute pain in the ass to get them to fit lol. I got chromoly shafts and spicer extreme u joints (solid, needless bearing caps) I only have maybe 3 mm of clearance around the joint. If they fail I will definitely try the rcvs but in my application with all the factory outer axle seal, slinger and stub shaft bearing I don't think the fit without modification as you mentioned.

    I know this is an old video but still viable info obviously. I do not have RCVs for my D44 yet hopefully soon, but what if a "pickle fork" was used to pry against the ball vs the extension for the splines, my brain instantly went to building a custom tool "fork" to make my life a little easier. Also, for lining up the splines, have a helper turn the drive shaft or opposite axle (with locker engaged) to line up the splines as you press it in. No helper, wrap a rope or strap around the drive shaft a few times then tie to your foot. Press on the RCV and pull your foot toward your body slightly to align the splines. (Ideas I will be trying and maybe help someone else)

    I have a question, I am working on a 75 international pick-up with dana 44 hd 8 lug, I am unfamiliar with differentials, this will not be a rock crawler or a mud truck but will be a towing truck for heavy loads and just a toy on the farm. Will the dana 44 be sufficient enough for 33 inch tires and up to 10000 lbs of payload (cattle and building materials) or should I upgrade to a dana 60?

    I just had the RCV axles installed. How much stronger are they compared to stock and how often do you have to grease them? I heard they have to be greased after everytime you go off roading.

      I heard 2 1/2 times stronger than stock axles. Yes I know this is a 3 yr old question but in the interest of info for others who might ask.

    those hubs are interesting, are they like filled with fluid with ball weights for balancing?

    This is way harder than the traditional method using a lip seal tool to get the boot onto the CV

    Hi there, about to take my RCV's out to grease. What is the hole for in the side of the RCV. Mine has got metal sticking out.

    Am I trippin, or is there not a small hole that you could put a screwdriver in to rotate that ball???

      Armando Sanchez I am running 40” Pit Bull’s right now on this axle with the RCV and having no issues.

      chris palsmeier OK I preciate that cause I want to put 40s on my Pathfinder and I have dana 44 high pinion. And i another question Can I beat on it with the 40s and not break? I wanna get me a set I just wanna see how durable they are

    It's soo easy for mee. U said that

  • @nickbarry1329
    @nickbarry1329 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    be prepared to grind,grind,grind, when you think you've grind down enough, keep going!!! this is not a straight forward procedure. It's unfortunate RCV didn't produce a modified knuckle for these popular axles.

    What’s the advantage over u joints?

    • @yerwrng
      @yerwrng 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Kamarbir Singh Brar the cv design is as strong at full lock turn as it is In a straight line . U joints also want to push themselves apart when at full lock turn by design . That said I've been running a set of 4340 Yukon shafts and their big super joints in my 60 for a few years they have lived through 40 Boggers 44 tsl and 42 Pitbull rockers. When running 40+ tires it helps to start with an axle that's big enough at the start trying to polish a d44 to hold 40s is expensive .

    This was a 9 minute video. And it was painful to listen to you get so out of breath. 20 minutes strip down and 20 minutes rebuild. I CHALLENGE YOU... Not that I am belittling you. Just saying no way in Hell
