I can remember (so long ago) when I thought I didn't really need a Go! cutter because I could rotary cut pretty well. I thought it was only worth it for applique and at the time I didn't do enough of that to push me to buy. They got me though when they started doing the BOB dies! The first die I purchased is a now discontinued (pieced) Basket block die. I had made the same block with regular rotary cutting so knew I had to have that one and still use it today. The second one I got was the Log Cabin die which I love, love, love! Both for making the blocks and when I need 1-1/2" strips of specific sizes (made a great pieced border for a pandemic mystery project with it). The idea of being able to cut all the fabrics and pieces for complex blocks like Storm At Sea, Cross Roads, the Glorified Nine Patch, Carpenter's Wheel (yep have 'em all, LOL!) in one pass sucked me right in! Once I was sliding down the slope, even some basic dies became "necessary": I did find that I liked using the Value die that came with my machine for cutting two inch finished HSTs and squares in bulk. I make a lot of scrap quilts so it wasn't hard to convince myself that I needed the 10" square boards that cut both the one and two inch finished HSTs and the one inch finished squares in even greater bulk (like sixteen at a time vs six on the Value die). I have one Cube -- I also have the nine inch and just the Angles -- because a lot of the BOBs I have are that size which means I can easily make companion blocks for them. Also since it includes a five inch square die, I can die cut (scrappy) charm squares with ease. And of course due to Accuquilt's periodic great sales I now have an applique die stash as well! Ironically, years ago I purchased a custom die to make the angled roof, gable and door rectangle to add to strips from my Log Cabin die to make a 12 inch pieced Schoolhouse block because back then they only had that as an applique block. Of course now they have the pieced nine inch schoolhouse (yep, have it) and of course that also goes with my Cube. Surprisingly though, I don't own any strip dies: I can't justify buying (and storing) those since I very much like using a Stripology ruler for strips and strip subcuts. I do however long for the day when I can have a dedicated space to put a Go! Big. One day!
Hi Vivian🥰! Thank you so much for contributing to the conversation. Oh my stars, your journey into the AccuQuilt world sounds so relatable 😊. It is indeed a slippery slope, but well worth sliding down😂. I truly appreciate you being here and watching the video! I’ll see you in the next video 👋🏽🥰
Over many years I have purchased dies, (before cubes were available), several specialty dies and have all the strip dies and cubes with companions. some bobs. I love the strip dies. I can't cut narrow strips to save my life, Yay for dies, perfect and fast. I've had to make up the larger cubes because I had purchased several separates. I made a list of what I had, then bought the ones I didn't. I purchased the storages boxes and use labels to identify what cube and size, works great. Since I haven't really used the dies much, I have decided to first go to them to see what will work in a bought pattern. (unless I buy a kit and the fabric is "just" enough for a rotary cutter). Your video made me excited again about using the dies! Thanks
Hi Michell😊. Oh my stars you have quite the collection! Thank you so much for sharing, it truly means a lot to me to connect with other AccuQuilt enthusiasts! I’m so glad you’re inspired to start using your AccuQuilt system! Please subscribe & join me on this journey. I’m building a place online for us to hang out, have fun and share our AccuQuilt creations😊. I’m so glad you’re here and will see you in the next video😊👋🏽
Great overview! I bought my Go back in 2011 for the same reason you got into it. I have been adding to my collection all these years. I have over 250 dies. The Qubes have been amazing and I have them all. My 12” Qube dies were purchased individually over the years so I was a huge fan when the Qube was released. I also love my BOB dies. I found early on that the appliqué dies weren’t a great value to me. I just don’t use them that much. I don’t own a lot of them but have purchased a few for special projects. Glad to see another Accuquilt enthusiast!
Hi Georgia😊! Thank you & I’m so glad you found the channel. It’s nice to meet other AccuQuilt Enthusiasts outside of the AccuQuilt channel. I just ordered the 12 inch Qube & can’t wait to get started with it! 250 dies!! That’s fantastic! My goal is to catch up with you😂. I’m so grateful you’re here and truly appreciate you commenting & sharing. I’ll see you in the next video my AccuQuilt friend 😊👋🏽
I think I’ve had a few years to build my collection. I must admit that my Qubes and strip dies get the most use. I recently purchased the setting triangles for 9” blocks. It’s amazing how setting your blocks on point changes them.
We are kindred quilters😊 I also have the nine inch Qube along with the setting triangles! And yes, you get a totally different look just by placing the blocks on point. You’re farther along on your die acquisition journey & are my role model 😊. So glad you’re here!
Wonderful! It truly is a slippery slope once you get started 😂. Thank you so much for commenting 😊. I’m so glad you found the video & hope you’ll join me for more AccuQuilt videos. I’ll see you in the next video 👋🏽😊
Hi Tammi! You have a good assortment of dies! I don't think that was a bad price for the custom die you had made. I have used one cutting plate till it cut a section out and had to get another one. I got the 2pk. I have looked at the bowl cozy and will definitely purchase that for sure because I could make them for Christmas gifts. Let me get off here and go finish sorting fabric to put in clear bins so I can see what I have. Look forward to the next video. 🥰
Hi Tammy my friend 🥰 I’m always learning & inspired by how much you get done in a day! Sorting fabric! That’s incredibly organized my friend. Thanks a million for commenting. I’ll see you in the next video 😘👋🏽
Hi, with wonkie heart block cut out 10 layers making each layer a different colour/fabric jumble up each pile upon itself, then seam each layer together you will have 10 scrappy blocks (ignoring the heart). The heart will not show up unless pieced in the same fabric/colour. Enjoy cheers Bronwyn
Hey Bronwyn 😊👋🏽. Thanks for much for contributing to the conversation. Your tip for using Layer Cakes is so valuable. I appreciate your being here. I’ll see you in the next video 👍🏽👋🏽
I'm just starting out. Daughter bought Go Me for me for Christmas, which I fell in love with. I felt limited on dies, so traded for Go Big. Just starting to add to my dies. Love love my Go Big.
Hi Marti😊. Thank you for commenting. That is awesome! The GoBig is truly a magical machine & I’m so excited you get to work with it. Once you start buying dies it’s a slippery slope😂. I’ll see you in the next video 😊👋🏽
I have the Accuquilt Studio (older one). I finally got around to writing down what dies I have. I love my 2 1/2 inch strip cutter and use it the most. I recently bought the roses die for a quilt I wanted to make. Which will take over 300 different size roses. No way I would ever have been able to cut those out. Most have not been used, YET! I did not get mine all at once. I waited on sales. There are always 40% and sometimes 50% off sales. When I added up the value of what I had it came to just a bit over $5000. My invoices showed I paid a little over $2100. Accuquilt has been a great addition to my quilting studio.
Hi Teresa😊. I love have you said “YET!”. I feel the same way. I get inspired, I buy the dies and then don’t make a project using them “YET!” The most important thing is to never pay full price. You’ve done well my friend amassing such a collection at an amazing price! I’m so glad you’re here, thanks for sharing. I’ll see you in my next video 😊👋🏽
Love my Accuquilt, can't cut a WOF strip accurately without it. I only bought a the strip dies & 2 Block boxes in the sizes I always use so def worth the cost.
That’s awesome Julie😊. The system sure does help you cut more accurately & faster! Thanks for commenting, it’s appreciated. I hope to see you in my next video 😊👋🏽
Hi Barbara😊. Thank you so much! I appreciate your comment & support of the channel 😊. Please join me for more videos. I’m just getting started here and would love your support 😊👋🏽
I have a ton of the dies and I absolutely love every single one of them I am so thankful because I have some arthritis and I am not able to just keep re-cutting and cutting and cutting and in you have beautiful patterns very very fast😊
Hi Angela😊. Thanks for sharing & commenting. I’m sorry you’re experiencing the discomfort of arthritis 😞. But I’m more excited you have the AccuQuilt cutting system so that you can continue quilting 😊. I hope to see you in the next video😊👋🏽
Love my accuquilt!! I make goat milk soap and was able to trade for a whole system and 40 or 50 dies!!! Love it! I want the Go Big so that will be my next find! Love your collection!
Hi Autumn 😊. Holy heck! Now that sounds like an amazing deal! I don’t know how hard it is to make goat milk soap, but I know the value of a machine plus 40 or 50 dies😂! Congratulations on your score 👏🏽. I’m so excited for you & invite you to join me for more AccuQuilt videos 😊👋🏽
Just received my Accuquilt Go Me and the 8" base set. Decided my first project would be a half square triangle quilt. I also bought an E book from Mary Anne Fontana called 50+ Fast and Easy Quilt Patterns using the AQ Go Me. It just uses the 2 dies that came with the cutter. It's on Etsy.
Congratulations Suzanne🎉 I’m so excited for you & thanks for sharing! You are going to be inseparable from your Go!Me😂. Thanks for sharing the Ebook. I’m gonna check it out. Enjoy my friend 😊. I’ll see you in the next video 👋🏽
Hi Diane my quilty friend 🥰! I’m so glad I’m not the only one who has fallen down the slippery “buy another die” slope 😂. Thank you so much for commenting, I appreciate you being here. I’ll see you in the next video 😊👋🏽
Just happened on to your video and enjoyed it immensely. I have an 8inch Go cube mix and match but haven't used it much . I do have a strip cutting die. I really appreciated your commenting on which dies were useful to you and which weren't. I'm not interested in elaborate shapes so my 8-inch set, maybe with a companion set, should be just fine for me.
Hi Mary😊! Thank you so much for commenting! I’m so glad you found the channel and that the video was helpful. The 8inch Qube set is absolutely perfect😊 When you can, add on the companion sets for even more options. The Qube sets are my favorite dies. If I need specific shapes say for applique, I just cut those with my ScanNCut. I look forward to seeing you in the next video. 😊👋🏽
Hi Teresa 👋🏽😊! I’m glad the video was helpful. I’m excited for you & hope you decide to purchase GoBig. It can be a game changer for your quilting experience 😊. Thanks for commenting, I’ll see you in the next video😊👋🏽
Hi👋🏽😊. Woohoo! Congratulations on your custom die purchase 🎉. It makes quilting so much more joyful when you have the exact tool you need to get the job done 🥰
That’s right my friend, quilting has no limits!😊And there is room for all of us, no matter what tools we use. Thank you as always for your support & commenting. I’ll see you in the next video 😊👋🏽
Hi Ellen😊 Thanks so much for commenting. Ooh, the flamingo and heart dies open up so much creativity😊. I’m so excited for you. Yes, the 2 1/2” is the best investment you can make! I’ll see you in the next video 😊👋🏽
I love my AQ cutter! My favorite die is the flying geese. I hated making flying geese until I got those dies, now I whip them out perfectly every time and they make me happy. I use my AQ for geometric shapes I need a ton of and my Scan N Cut for specialty shapes. I just read in one of your comments that you do the same thing so I quickly subscribed. I'm very excited to binge your other videos.
Oh my stars! Thank you and I’m so glad you found me🥰. I appreciate you sharing your enthusiasm for the AQ system, because clearly I share the same enthusiasm 😂. Thank you for subscribing 🎉. We’re just getting started here. More Scan N Cut content is coming so stay tuned! I’ll see you in the next video 😊👋🏽
I enjoyed your video. I have the Go! Big, several strip dies, a few BOB dies, a couple of hst dies, and a few other straight shape dies (ie. 5" square, etc). I absolutely love my Accuquilt system! I use my strip dies for every quilt I make. My most used BOB die is the Ohio Star. I would like to get some more strip dies and hst dies but that's not in the budget at this time. Although it is an expensive system I feel that it has been worth the expense for me.
Thank you Karen😊. You have a wonderful collection! I have my eye on the Ohio Star, it’s nice to hear you’re making good use of it. I like to think of it as an “investment” or “insurance”. I’m a hospice nurse practitioner and every day I see how fragile life is. I absolutely love what I do for a living, but it does take a toll on me mentally. So… Investing in the AccuQuilt cutting system is an investment in my overall health. In due time, you’ll be able to “invest” in more dies. Until then, let’s continue to have fun with what we already own. I appreciate your comment. I hope to see you in the next video 😊👋🏽
Thank you! This was very helpful. Purchased a pre-loved AccuQuilt Go 2 days ago with many dies. I used the 3 1/2 strip cutter. It worked great but must be older as no diagonal lines. Needed to use the rotary cutter to sub cut the strips to 4 1/2. Looking to purchase dies for my frequently used sizes. Perhaps a cube is the way to go.
Hi Patty😊. I’m so glad you found the video helpful! Congratulations on your purchase! Welcome to the AccuQuilt enthusiasts family 😊. As far as the ineffective cuts go… Are the mats that came with the dies “really used” if so, start with buying a new mat, that may solve the cutting issue. Next use a flashlight and possibly a magnifying glass to see if you can visualize any “bent” blades between the foam. The dies could have been dropped and dropping the dies may possibly cause the blades to bend. If you see bent blades, you’ll just have to continue cutting off those areas with rotary cutter. Those are my troubleshooting tips 😉. The Go!Qube sets are my favorites because they’re so versatile. I’d love it if you’d subscribe & join me for more videos 😊👋🏽
@@TalohaStudios Great tips, I did have trouble with one die but after watching you, I think it will loosen up with use. The mats and dies are new. I do not yet have a 4 1/2 die which is why I went to the rotary cutter. Will have to use both until I buy more dies. Really considering purchasing the 8”Qube first.
I loved this video. I don’t have one of either. I do want the AQ thought. It’s just the m thing. Up until about 6yrs ago, I was able to like buy mostly what I wanted. But 2 neck, 2 back, 1 knee replacement later, I can’t do my business any more. But I am so thankful I can even sew and quilt a little. I did alterations and embroidery also. But think Jesus I am still alive and walking. Thank you
Thank you😊 Wow Brenda you have been through it my friend. I’m so grateful you are still walking the planet with us and able to sew and quilt even if it’s just a little 🙏🏽😊
Hi Diana😊👋🏽. I do not own the double wedding ring die 😞. That is a block that is way over my head because I don’t have the patience to piece it together 😂. My mother is currently working on that block and is cutting it ALL BY HAND 😲. I’m sure you’ll have an easier go with cutting the pieces using the die. Let me know how it goes, I’m rooting for you 😊
Hi Helen😊. Wow, sold out! That means more quilters are joining the AccuQuilt community which is exciting! I’m sorry you’ll have to wait a little longer for a machine, but it’ll be worth it once you receive it. I’ll still be here making AccuQuilt videos & I invite you to join me for the ride 😊👋🏽
Thank you Pamela😊 I’m glad you found the video helpful! I’d love it if you’d join me for more AccuQuilt videos here on this channel. I’m just getting started & we’re gonna have a lot of fun here. I’ll see you in the next video 😊👋🏽
Hello😊. I found it most cost effective to start with the Qube sets. Either the 6”, 8”, or 9”. These sizes fit in the GoMe cutter. The size choice depends on the finished block size you anticipate making the most. Hope this helps 😊
Have seen the Opinionated Quilter video today? I can't believe the baloney she about AQ. AQ on their website in the right upper corner as GO QUILT. This takes you to adapting quilt patterns with the AQ dies. Can Scan & Cut devices do that? With AQ you save the price of it in rotary cutter blades. I have yet to have a die wear out.
Hi Marina😊 Thank you so much for commenting! I just watched her video. Based on her statements, she comes across as inexperienced and minimal knowledge on how to use the AccuQuilt cutting system. I use my Scan N Cut for special shapes & appliqués. When I adapt patterns that are traditionally written for rotary cutting, I use my AccuQuilt tools. I appreciate your support. I’ll see you in the next video 😊👋🏽
@@TalohaStudios She's really opinionated about the wonderful usefulness of Deb Tucker rulers. She uses them for her tutorials. She says a lot about being frugal, what about saving money on rotary cutter blades? I'm sure that in the 70s there was great resistance to switch to rotary cutters by established quilters.
Well, she does call herself “The Opinionated Quilter”. She can have her opinion and we can not watch her content if we disagree with her viewpoints. Thank you so much for being here, I appreciate your viewpoint 😊
Hi👋🏽. You are absolutely correct! That’s what it’s all about, finding your joy within in the quilting craft so that it can spill over into the rest of your life🥰. Thank you so much for commenting & I’ll see you in the next video 😊👋🏽
Thanks for your question Gail😊. For this one, I’m going to refer you the AccuQuilt TH-cam channel. Pam does an excellent job explaining and showing a demonstration. There are some tricks you have to follow so that you keep the strips continuous. She also shows how to cut them in 45 and 60 degree cuts. 😊
Hi Tenita😊! Thanks for contributing to the conversation. I hear ya on the price. What I find is most cost effective and lets you get the biggest bang for your buck is the GoMe + 1 Go Qube set. You can make 72 different blocks with the GoQube and all of the sizes except the 10” & 12” will work with the GoMe😊. So if you’re ever in the position to make the investment, this will help you maximize that investment 😊👍🏽
@@TalohaStudios this is actually a really good idea and I’m leaning toward that because I tend to stick to pretty basic quilt blocks and shapes. And i usually make 6 or 8 inch blocks. Thank you so much for taking the time to respond to me.
My pleasure 🙏🏽! Here’s another tip to help you decide between the 6 & 8” Qube😉. Look through the 6 & 8” BOB (block on board) dies. If there are more of one size that you like, get that size Qube set. That way, in the future as you have more money to invest, you can build on your existing Qube set instead of buying dies you won’t use often. Also, sign up for their email list that way you get notified of all the sales! I hope this helps 🥰
Yes it does. I recommend waiting until Black Friday week, since it’s coming up soon. They have daily specials that week particularly on Friday. The best thing is to sign up for their emails so you don’t miss the notification of the sales 🥰
Awesome Vickie😊. Thank you so much for commenting! I can’t imagine my quilting life without AccuQuilt! My next purchase is going to be the 12in Qube sets. I already have the 6in so adding the 12in will give me more options. I’m so glad you’re here. I’ll see you in the next video😊👋🏽
Brenda, I have the GoMe which is the same as the GoBaby, a GoBig and a Studio2 cutter. If you get the entry level GoMe, AccuQuilt says you can use approximately 70% of their dies with that cutter. If you get the Qube sets 9in or smaller they 100% work with the GoMe/GoBaby😊

Would be nice if you showed the finished product.
Hi Irene😊. Thanks for the feedback! I’ll remember that for future videos👍🏽
Thanks for all the advice, thinking about purchasing the go big E and wanted to see what were the most usable dies.
Hi Teresa 👋🏽😊! I’m glad the video was helpful. I’m excited for you & hope you decide to purchase GoBig. It can be a game changer for your quilting experience 😊. Thanks for commenting, I’ll see you in the next video😊👋🏽
I just bought a custom die, I love it.
Hi👋🏽😊. Woohoo! Congratulations on your custom die purchase 🎉. It makes quilting so much more joyful when you have the exact tool you need to get the job done 🥰
While I don't have one and haven't considered one, I absolutely do see the benefit for those who do own them! Quilting has no limits!
That’s right my friend, quilting has no limits!😊And there is room for all of us, no matter what tools we use. Thank you as always for your support & commenting. I’ll see you in the next video 😊👋🏽
I recently bought the flamingos and the hearts.
By far my 2½" strip cutter is my favorite
It's worth every danged penny ! And I'd love to get more 😁
Hi KD😊! I absolutely agree with you! I’m so glad you found this channel. Thanks for commenting & I’ll see you in the next video 😊👋🏽
Hi Patty😊. I say go for it! Buy the 8”Qube. You won’t regret it🥰
Thanks for GREAT video!!! I love my AQ and trying to share the love with my local quilt/sewing buddies!!🎉😂❤
Woohoo! Nice to meet you fellow AccuQuilt Enthusiast 🥰. Stay tuned, we’re gonna have fun with our AccuQuilt cutters on this channel 😊
I’m so grateful you are still walking the planet with us and able to sew and quilt even if it’s just a little 🙏🏽😊
Have you used the double wedding ring die? I have the fabric, not looking forward to cutting all of those pieces.
Let me know how it goes, I’m rooting for you 😊
Tried to order one yesterday they were out of stock I want the go me can't wait to get one
Great video!
Thank you Pamela😊 I’m glad you found the video helpful! I’d love it if you’d join me for more AccuQuilt videos here on this channel. I’m just getting started & we’re gonna have a lot of fun here. I’ll see you in the next video 😊👋🏽
When starting what dies would you recommend?
If it brings joy to you, it worth every Cent. :-)
Hi👋🏽. You are absolutely correct! That’s what it’s all about, finding your joy within in the quilting craft so that it can spill over into the rest of your life🥰. Thank you so much for commenting & I’ll see you in the next video 😊👋🏽
Hello my question is how do you cut the strips of fabrics. Such as sashing and edgings. Thank you.
Thank you
As much as I want an accuquilt I know I wouldn’t be able to afford the dies. I might still try the smallest one.
@@TalohaStudios does the go me ever go on sale? Right now its $129.99
My pleasure 🙏🏽!
Qubes come in the following sizes: 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, 10, 12 (there is NO 7").
Thanks for the clarification 😊
I own the 5 and 10 inch qube. And almost all the applique dies. I love them all.
What size cutter do you have please Not too familiar with all this yet
@@brendasweeney2806 I have the go baby and the Go, hand crank. My husband says it's the only exercise I get! 😆
That is hilarious Vickie 😂😂
I don't need a 17 minute video to know that this is nothing but a sales pitch.
Hi Ellen😊. It is absolutely your choice how you spend your time here on TH-cam. You can choose to watch the video or turn it off😉
Not worth the price
Thanks for sharing you opinion Karen😊
I didn’t post to be mean. I have one and used my Accuquilt machine a long time but those dies are very expensive.
No worries Karen!😊 I appreciate your comment & hope you stick around for more videos 😊👋🏽
