The 8th gen chassis is the last one of the Civics I'd even consider owning. I'm an old school Honda guy with my first one going back to 1987. My 1982 Accord LX hatchback was my pride and joy for many years. Times have definitely changed for sure. Excellent video sir and thanks for the retro sounding background tunes.
I have a 2008 Mugen Si. I am planning for this same build. Bolt-ons with a K24A2 swap. 230-WHP is the goal. Oh, and I want a longer 6th gear. K24s belong in this chassis. K20s require too much revving.
@@Roobsrandomz I can't wait! Everyone has such great things about it. The FG2/FA5 reminded me a lot of the 99-00 EM1 Civic with the B16. Just too small displacement for the size of the car.
Dang bro are we related lol? Sounds like you've invaded my brain. I just made a comment on another channel that I'd love to have the Mugen Si with a built K24/A2 power plant. Nothing too high-strung but able to be daily driven if so desired.
@@PhoenixRising251 Nice! Lol That's very similar to the build I have in mind. I'm going with a mild build. Mugen OEM-style intake, Mugen header if one fits, and lots of other non-engine Mugen upgrades. My goal is to make it what it should've been when it came out. 220-230WHP would be fantastic! I'll be adding videos of it to my TH-cam channel soon.
I have two fa5. 08 and a 09. My 08 has a jdm k24a. Type s oil pump. 50 degree vtc and With bolt-on. I couldn’t be happier. I have a blast just driving it. My 09 is a k frank. (Z3head /k24a bottom) and it’s supercharged. That thing blows the tires off the car. Crazy fast. I’m kinda scared driving it, I just leave it in the garage. K20 or k24. Which ever route you take. The 8th gen civic is the last of its kind.
Wow this is really inspiring! Im new to honda scene and im really loving the simplicity to mod these cars. I know im super late in honda scene but im trying to do another hobby. Ive been enjoying a high 9s-low 10s trackhawk but i only take it out on weekends and im good with the power it has now. So im looking to do another project. I have a 96 civic with a b20v, I straight traded a crv that i was gonna flip. And now after 2 months having the civic, i look forward to do a k swap in it although i love the b20 in it. Your exhaust is ready for turbo!
If I could have any new age Honda this is it. I love a 4 door, I've got a sweet spot for these bc when I first started learning about hondas they came out brand new to the market. Couple popular guys w b swapped cars both bought these brand new, one red, one blue. I looked up to those guys heavy.
I like the 8th gen chassis but sucks when you have to remove the subframe cradle in order to drop the transmission for a clutch job or any trans work😅In my opinion i think the 8th gen chassis is like Honda last golden era chassis do!
love the vids liked and subbed...would u take a 2005 K24a2 RBB3 in a EP3 or a clean EK9 with JDM b18c Type R? both simular in price and milage 85k.. all my boys say go with k24a2 ep3.. the Type R is in a DX no power anything and the EP3 has AC hehe, but that type R b18 sounds beautiful with that vtec crack.. i need help with this decision because i cant make one hahah. i know the type r is slower but its iconic and isnt going to be worth something ?
I had a 2006 tsx which had the k24 a2 it was decent but it was auto unfortunately the only thing I hated is when you hit vtec it didn’t stay in vtec even when you used manual mode but when I traded it for a 2011 civic si the difference was big obviously because it’s a 6 speed and about 400 lbs lighter and stays in vtec so with that experience ima roll with the k20 I’ve seen manual tsx,s but it’s just not the same
EP3 is a great chassis, easy to mod. But if you want out of the box, go with 8th and 9th gen SI's. EP3's suffer from rarity. Hard to find one in general let alone stock or tastefully modded or in any kind of drivable condition. You'll have to do work on it anyways, so depending on if you want to mod it, it's great. Suspension needs a lot of work driving past 6/-7/10's since the geometry toes in under load, understeers and doesn't rotate nicely without trail braking. To be anything like the old double wishbone Honda's, EP3's need upgraded bushings, swaybars, adjustable arms for camber and caster. VTEC isn't pronounced but nothing a head/engine swap can't change. I have one as daily duty and it's more than enough for it and spirited drives. Just don't expect it to be like a classic Honda out of the box
So i recently purchased a fa5 with a k24a swap but when i accelerating up to 4k or even just give it a rev i start to hear a whistle sound. Do you think it might be an exhaust leak or maybe because it has the original fa5 exhaust?
The 8th gen civic is probably the last of the great Honda’s N/A motor
But this one has a K24….the Z3 is great, save for the oil balance shafts.
@@jacobfleischer5545 I knew that brother

My first car was a hand-me-down 1986 Accord LX sedan that my dad bought new.
Best si ever made. 🤷🏾
i own a 8th gen since day one of ownership 2010 Fa5 and i still have it. just put away in my garage for my summer street/track build.
Love how Steven sets up his cars. Nice and safe to drive 🙏🏼🙏🏼 k24 sounds amazing! This is the only way to by a 8th gen. 4dr is life🔥🔥

You won't regret it, I literally performed this exact swap. torque + power from 1k rpms to 8.4k RPMS its nuts.

Facts 2010ish Honda died imo. This new stuff is alright but doesn't compare to the rawness of the OG's
love the sound of fresh vtec

It’s that K life. No shade against a NA B, but the smoothness of an NA K has no comparison.

When is the give away winner being announced?
Is this sa stock k24? My 06 TSX with Hondata isn’t exactly fast. Must be the weight difference. I plan to put the K20Z3 head on it.
What part South Carolina? I’m in Spartanburg. Do you have a shop?

Do you have an aftermarket intake? Sometimes the suction from that sounds like a leak or turbo
Are we close to the give away???
Yes!! Dec 5th
