I love your channel! Could I ask your thoughts on the 300B vs 2A3 Bowei Amp? I have some Lowther based horn speakers and would like to decide which amp is better. Thanks.

It depends on the design of each amp. The output transformer is very important. All things being equal, a good 300B has richer tone and better bass. A good 2A3 has slightly more details in the mid and top end. I love both. What Lowther drive units do you have?

Thanks, I have PM6A units - started with Alnico - although I am thinking of trying DX or EX units too. My Horns do not have the best bass response so maybe the 300b is the best way to go. Do you use a sub with the speakers in this video?

PM6A are great drive units. Very musical. I had these on my Lowther Acousta when I was in UK. They are great with 300B. In fact, with the PM6A, I prefer to use 300B to drive them. I used the Audio Note Quest monoblocks to drive my Lowther Acousta speakers with PM6A. I still cannot forget the sound! I still regret selling the Lowthers and the Quest. Using a good sub is a great way to get bass.

That is exactly what I am using acousta 115 plus PM6a, so I think I will probably give the Bowei 300B a try and perhaps upgrade some components later. With the sub I always worried about having something fast enough to stay in phase with the lowther units. I will have to do some looking.

John Churchwell Have a look for Velodyne DD Woofers.... they are go very deep und are fast (but not cheap 🙁) Perfect for Lowther or Altec..

also have hashimoto H20 OPTs, best ever OPT's, music ist just flowing... now building 45 amp very similar to Yamamoto. Linn , Yamamoto was good amp ? can you recomend it ?
