You know Matt Johnson is a genius when he can take the drum intro from the Jive bunny track then layer with with Marr's textured guitar magic and then turn it into a nightmare jitterbug tale of today's world we now live in Bravo Mr Johnson !!!
The opening comes from another older Rockabilly song, but I can't remember which one. I keep thinking that The Leroi Brothers used it too. But I know The Dead Milkmen used it at the beginning of Bottomless Pit.
ah, finally a version of this song that isn't full of pictures of war and crap. I can watch the news for that.. Some people seem to completely miss the irony in this song and take it as a revelation of sorts.
Saw these guys near D.C. around 1990 when Marr toured. He did somewhat of a "solo" but it was him riffing with the amps using stereo tricks. A good show!
Soulmining still remains my all time favourite album. I had a chance to see them in 90 but I chose to go and see Primal Scream instead. Needless to say I regretted it and still do! More The The!
Thanks for uploading these vids of the Royal Albert Hall shows. They make me want to shell out the money that it takes to go to a show these days, in order to see the 2024 tour.
THANK You for posting this song. I discovered The The last year through The Smiths of course, and was really impressed by Mind Bomb I'm trying to figure out Marr's guitar part as we speak. Cheers.
Saw these guys in concert in Newport South Wales 92....... Great song.....and its all happening today. We never remember history....or is kept from our children on purpose!!!!!
I was there. He was an hour late appearing, off his box and the pianist for Uncertain Smile was crap ..... but it was worth it !!!! Pure energy and one of the last chances to see Matt Johnson before he took 'a sabbatical'.
So spot on! written in 89 before all hell broke loose.." the lights that now burn brightest behind stained glass will cast the darkest shadows across the human heart" WOW! God doesnt belong to the Yankee Dollar...God doesnt even go to church...God will remind us what we already know the world is about to reap what it has sown...Yikes!
music business has killed the wish to release more music from two bands i love. THE THE, and TEARS FOR FEARS. NO matter how different or how you like them, but thes eguys were capabale to bring us with almost every record, pure art in music, lyrics and thoughts
I really dig the the, matt johnson and i take johnny marr as a big guitar influence of mine. I would like understand the lyrics on a deeper/more worldly level. I guess I'm not one to dive into politics but how would you say I could understand various issues well just to get a better understand/ awareness of it all and how it effects me and everyone else? I'm not sure where to begin in that sense.
If there was ever an album that I prayed would become irrelevant, it was Mind Bomb. Instead, it becomes more true with each passing day.
fairly smart cats these The The eh
I'd also add new model army, thunder and consolation
And "pray" might say something, there. too, eh?
Yep just a prophetic album for sure!
Well sed n totally true..the Israel and world dilemmas released in the 80.s...so before their time ..
I love how Johnny Marr doesn't play solos, he just makes incredible guitar contributions to every song he plays. His work with The The is my favorite.
A legend!!!
As an atheist I can quite happily state that Johnny Marr is the God of guitar
@@davegreen1915 🤣🤣
Agreed
@@davegreen1915 We are in the same religion ... ;-) !

Mind Bomb is a Mind Bomb
He's still writing music apparently. He did the soundtrack to a film called Moonbug. Never heard of the movie but the music sounds good.

Well, at least Tears for Fears are back in their #own" studio, recording a new album. :)
Well, I would kill for another the The album though...

Barrie came much later, this is Johnny Marr.
Does anyone here understand the message of this track?
it was 1990
Can someone give ùe the name of the drummer ? Thx
David Palmer. He was in British band ABC in the 80s, now drummer in Rod Stewart's band.
Johnny Marrrr
@Guitfiddlejase Yes Johnny Marr is God..
Oh. Think this might be a bit relevant......
Armageddon dayssss -- are here again! #GoMatt!
Forgotten the message and worship the creed!!!
Yeah but John Kettley is a weather man
And so is Michael Fish.
Talk about prophesy!
Note Johnny Marr on guitar !
