    Just getting ready to stitch my squares together! This is the first time I've done a non traditional granny square. Thank you for making a video with clear instructions and excellent camera angles! I cannot read a written pattern to save my life and am entirely self taught with TH-cam tutorialz

    How do you connect all the squares without having any holes? Mine creates open holes between four different pieces and they keep coming undone when putting things into the bag

    • @HerScience
      @HerScience  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Maybe you can take a piece of yarn and tie all four corners together to close the hole. :) I hope this helps

      I would recommend this tutorial. Also the handles on this other site is much better explained and realistic handles-this i-cord going through two top holes are not ideally designed for weight: th-cam.com/video/4TxLDNzSd3Q/w-d-xo.html

  • @rebeccafoster5745
    @rebeccafoster5745 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Hey! I’m wondering how you finished the cord, meaning like how do you keep it from undoing with the weight of what’s in the bag?

    • @HerScience
      @HerScience  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hello! If I remember correctly, I tied off the end of the cord and left a long tail of yarn. Then, took the yarn tail and used it to connect the beginning and end of the cord by weaving it in and out. I Hope this helps! : )

    How did you attach the cord exactly? I can't figure out how to weave it in and out of the top

    • @HerScience
      @HerScience  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There is really no good/right way to do it. I just looped yarn through the end of the cord and tied it to the bag and then wove in the tails. I hope this helped :)

    What do you do with the excess string at the back of the square do you cut it off? This is amazing

    • @HerScience
      @HerScience  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I cut it pretty short and then weaved it into the square to hide it

  • @magic.weaver

    I'm using a thinner yarn and smaller hook size. Will my bag be too small ? I am adding the last row of half dcs as you suggested

    • @HerScience
      @HerScience  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That’s going to depend on how small of a hook and how thin of yarn you are using. But if it’s not too much smaller you can just add that last row of hdc and if you feel that the square is still too small you can always add another round of hdc to compensate. It’ll look great either way :)

    • @magic.weaver
      @magic.weaver 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@HerScience it's not too small I'm using 4 ply cotton yarn with 3.5mm hook. I hope 5 rows should be enough

    • @HerScience
      @HerScience  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think adding one row of hdc at the end should be just perfect then

    How many balls of yarn did you use? :)

    • @HerScience
      @HerScience  3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Oh gosh I made this so long ago it’s hard to remember. For the brown I just used a big 1 pound roll of red heart yarn I think and I didn’t use very much of that at all. And then for the yellow I think I used maybe 4 of the rolls but they are very small rolls of yarn. And then I think maybe 5 rolls of the white. I hope this helps :)

    Hello, what is the length of one granny square? ☺️

    • @HerScience
      @HerScience  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hello! It’s going to vary depending on the yarn you use and the size of your hook but my squares were roughly 3.5 inches by 3.5 inches
