I’ve just found Melanie’s Channel today, I had no idea she passed. My thoughts and prayers are with her family
OMG! I just found her channel today :-(!!! I am so sorry, my thoughts and prayers are with her family....
Sameeeeeee
I just found her page yesterday. My heart goes out to her family. ❤
Oh no I’m working on a granny Square project that she did the tutorial on oh that makes me so sad. I just found her also.
God bless her family. My prayers and thoughts are with you.
Same here. I was about to type thankyou so much for the tutorial, it's easy to understand for beginner like me and saw comments 😭😭😭😭😭
So sad to hear about Melanie passing away. I learned everything I know about crochet from her. In tears writing this. She has helped so many people. Sending my love to all who knew her xx
Oh my gosh i had no idea!😥
Me too. I felt like I knew her through her wonderful tutorials. I had such high hopes that she could beat that dreadful disease. Praying for her husband, two children and all her family. RIP lovely lady. 💔😔
WHAT, I just found her channel. This is so sad :(

Whyyy?? What happened to her?
Its 2024 and Im still watching and learning from Melanie's website. Thank you for still having it on.
Since I was always on her website as the beginner, learning and enjoying her teaching,
I learned about her cancer battle. She left us way too young! I believe she is in better place where there is no pain.
My deepest condolences.
Yes we will see her in Heaven.
I as well ❤❤❤
I love her channel.
I just found this channel and came to know that she is no more... I am soo sorry
It's so incredible that even though she is gone her work is still here and she is still teaching us crochet! I just found this channel, so bittersweet.
Love this one!! When I was little my Grandma would have me take a nap with her flower crochet blanket, now I can make one of my own! It had daisies and mums I think. The daisies were my favorite!
wow.. it's good job 🥰🥰
Here it is 2023, and I'm still watching Melanie's crochet videos when I need a little help with my crochet projects. She was such an excellent teacher, her passion for her crafts really showed, her joy for life, and her love for humanity was very obvious. She will always be missed. I wish nothing but the best for her family.
Same. She’s still so helpful 🩷

R1 starting with yellow, (for the middle part) sc 8 into the mc

Change to white (for the petals) ch 3 ( counting the Ch to you used to secure it ) y/o insert in the same stitch y/o pull through 2 repeat till you have 5 loops on your hook y/o pull through all ch 2 and repeat the petal process till you have 8 petals ch 2 sl st to end the round
R3 cut the yarn and switch to pink where the ch 2 spaces were ( for the background of the flower 🌸) ch 5 ( not counting the ch u used to secure the yarn ) do 3 dc in the same st 3 dc in the next ch 2 space. Do 3 dc in the next ch 2 space again. Now for the corner, ch 2 then do 3 dc in that SAME ch stitch. Repeat this till you reach the end. In the last ch 2 space where the first petal was. Count the 3 chains, and SL st into the third. She explains better than me so here is the time stamp

thx so much often times i dont have the patience to watch crochet videos fully, and i would rather just look at the instructions.
Thanks for leaving Melanie's tutorials for the crochet community to still learn from. For myself I am always learning even from rewatching her tutorials. She is thought of often and her beautiful family! ❤️
it’s so terrible that she passed, but what a wonderful gift she left the world before she went. what a great legacy. so many crochet projects in her honor ❤️ all of our daisies are for you, melanie!

I just found Melanie's channel and learned the news from the comments. I am very thankful to be able to watch her videos and get a glimpse of how wonderful she was. May she rest in peace. Thank you Melanie for sharing
Thank you for keeping this channel open. In spirit Melanie is still helping us. 💓
Oh no! I just realized she passed away. I’m naming my Daisy blanket after her!! Rest in peace Melanie. 🌼❤
Very heartsore. During a dark lockdown I learned everything about crocheting from Melanie. What a sunny and happy disposition - so passionate about projects and trying new things. She encouraged me to try even if I get it wrong, and to put passion into each project. I will watch and learn everything she has posted - perhaps also delve into quilting sometime!
Me too. 💔

Thank you so much because I have been trying to learn how to make a grand square with a flower, I am legally blind so I can only do live videos that the lady talks on, your video was awesome you gave great instructions thank you so much
Wow you must be really talented to crochet blindly! I have to stare down my work to get it right

I’m gonna turn this into a top! Make the squares and crochet cups for the top:))
omg same hope ur turns out great!!!
I did this and it’s the cutest! Hope yours goes great!
I had the same idea ahah! how much wool did you use ?
if it's not too much to ask lol
@@faustinecoeur7992 hi! I used Caron one pound for each of the granny squares and also same for the cups but I still have whole bunch of yarn left. also the cups don't really use a lot of yarn but the squares might, the cups took me around I'll say 100 m but im just rounding it off and I have no clue about the granny squares but I hope this helped!
I’m learning to crotche so I’m watching videos of things that are to hard for me -
Idk, Im 12 and i startad crocheting a couple years ago and I find these squares pretty simple and easy to do. Maybe you should change yarn
@@aranyae3276 agreed. I think they may be using the wrong size yarn for their hook maybe.
@@brooke-_- lmao when I started to crochet I bought COTTON yarn for like a hundred bucks and it was so fucking hard to work with
What’s the problem when you try to crochet something like that? I’d be happy to help!
LoveYourselfCrochet I have trouble with that magic ring and then the fact that she moves too fast, a single crochet has two hoops? I’ve made a lot of stuff with crochet but have to pause, go back, pause go back. Bag o day crochet seems to be the only channel that I can follow, others confuse.
I’m doing a sage green middle, light blue petals, and cream colored border!
How did it come out?!
Mine's kinda similar but i did a dark green middle, sage petals, and white background
Daisies have been my favorite flower since I was a teenager in the 60s. Thanks for this cool pattern!!! 🧶💕🧶🌼

I started watching Melanie’s videos and had no idea she was sick until she passed. What a beautiful legacy to leave behind.
wait omg i didnt know
Just read the sad news...so sorry to hear about this news...and has motivated me to finally learn a new pattern. I'm glad she gave of her life experiences to share to the world!

came back to use this pattern again. God bless you Melanie and thank you for your inspiration. I hope you are at peace in Heaven. ❤❤✝
Rest easy Angel. Thank you so much for these helpful videos and teaching your amazing skills.
R.I.P melanie😢,We will always support you for the love you gaved us😢
I love this pattern but I find that you just speed through the yarn overs and pulling through and other things so I have so slow down the video so I can learn.
Watch just be crafty’s video, it’s a lot better explained
you can change the playback settings into whatever speed you are comfortable in, i hope that helps you
I just made like 8 of these to make a bag before reading any of the comments. Her videos are so great. She taught me something really cool 6 months after she passed - that’s crazy.
This was my first Melanie video. I subscribed immediately. I didn't understand today that every random you tube video I watched continued with the Melanie lifeline video. So after finishing my crochet worked I actually watched the compilation. I could not believe she passed away. I cried for so long. She was a real warrior. She never gave up. She never complained. She fought for her marriage. Unbelievable that such an amazing woman got so sick. My blessings to the whole family. I will continue to watch all her videos. Thank you for everything you thaught us Melanie. Rest in peace! God bless you 🤍🕊🕯

I'm wanting to make a tote bag. How do you sew them together for one?
@@shaelyneduran3069hi, I used a tapestry needle and sew them one by one. Make sure to use double yarn so it holds the squares better.
Sleep in peace Melanie... I too just came across her platform today and it saddens me 😢... Thank you to whoever has continued displaying her tutorials...

At 3:27, she says something about fastening it off? How does she do that…
Cecilia Bartels you cut your working yarn and just pull it all the way through your loop
Can't wait to try this! I think i will use a Cornflower Blue for the background. Or even a Mint or Seafoam green. They will make great Christmas gifts. Thanks again for the fun items to crochet. Hope you are well.
wow.. it's good job 🥰🥰
I loved it, i wish ypu showed us how to do the additional row to make the square bigger
I found that if you repeat the same steps used for the background on the second row you can get it to be bigger

R.i.p Melanie i just discovered you ,you such a sweet person 💕
I love watching this young woman with such a gift for communicating to people and making us all feel like we were her next-door-neighbor ❤
I have been crocheting 50 years and have learned more in the last 13 years on TH-cam than the previous 43! Yarn content creators do us such a fantastic service...I remember the old days when finding a new pattern meant a trip to the library, the craft or fabric store, or a hand-written pattern from friends or family.
RIP Ms. Melanie Ham from one of many fans who miss you very much. I wish I personally knew the family so I could give her children a hug and help her husband in some way. What a special lady she was! 😊😊😽😽❤❤

Many thanks Melanie! hope you are feeling well This is so sweet.

A simplistic beauty! Thank you! I pray this finds you well!!!
hi! new to crochet. what do you mean when you say "lap size"? is this if i want to make a bigger individual square?
You go so faasssst ㅠㅠ I can’t keep up
This is a great pattern 10/10 recommend so sorry to hear she passed 😢
am i the only one that finds it hard to follow? would like more explanation more verbally since its hard to tell where its moving
Sooo cute! I love this pattern so much! Thank you for sharing this with us! Love your Channel!
This is how I made round two of this square:
After finishing round 1, do not cut and tie yarn. Instead,
slip stitch into the next stitch (first of the chain two space from the background corner)
chain 5 (this will be one double crochet + ch 2 space), dc 3
dc 3 into next space x 2 ( twice because you now have 2 empty ch2 spaces between corners)
dc 3 into next space, ch 2, dc 3 in same stitch (this is the corner)
repeat similar to round 1, dc 3 in next space x2, do corner, for all sides
after last dc 3 before the corner, dc 2 into beginning ch 2 space, slip stitch into 3rd chain of the beginning chain 5
feel free to ask any questions :)
THANK YOU
I’m a little lost on making round two of the background color. When I get to the final corner to tie off, the corner isn’t in the right spot. It looks more to the side than an actual corner. Any help would be ever so appreciated 😊
RIP 🙏 🕊
this dear lady passed away few hours ago.... i have no words..May God rest her in peace 🖤
do you know what happened?
Came up on Melanie’s tutorial 2 months ago. Started my own little daisy-square-project in white, yellow and blue. Did not know a thing about Melanies being very sick and eventually passing away. Wish her love ones all the best and comfort in lovable memories. While crocheting i found it would be nice to crochet a second round in blue. Have no clue whatsoever how to count… ?
In my religion, we believed that if someone dies, their deeds comes to an end, except for 3 things, one of that thing is 'beneficial knowledge'. She helped so many people with her knowledge, it will be her never ending deeds in heaven... ❤
This is so confusing and I have done so many other projects. Add more detail.
I finished my first crochet project with Melanie. Here I am rewatching some of the videos to remember and my heart aches as if I've lost a friend. Sending prayers to her family and loved ones during this difficult time. She was so talented and loved.

Melanie taught me how to sew masks when the pandemic hit and masks were impossible to find. Thanks to her, I was able to make more than 100 masks for my family members and everyone at my dad's workplace. I have this video saved and come back to it whenever I need to make daisy granny squares. I'm very sad to learn that she has passed away. I send my condolences to her loved ones. Hi I’m new here but everyone is saying that she passed away is it possible for someone to give me a background story please ❤
She Passed away from cancer sadly 💔
@@classyvxbe hi thank you so much after seeing this comment I went through her page and she was my idols a couple years ago and I didn’t realise she was so inspiring thank you so much for telling me💔
Every time I do the 8 sc in magic loop then do the petals I end up with a space for a 9th petal could the count be off for the sc in magic loop and it’s supposed to be 7?
I'm having the same issue, I tried just doing 7 in the beginning and that seems to work. Otherwise I just skipped one of them and only made 8 petals but that just created a big gap
I am so so sad that Melanie lost her battle with cancer and passed away January 2022. May this channel and her legacy live on.
Does anyone know how big they are in cm or inches?
I wanna make a tote bag but I don’t know how many I have to make
They're about 7 x 7 cm so pretty small
how sad is it that you open a video and the first comment tells this happy and smiling person in the video has died 💔
Nooooooooo I absolutely loved her. I'm very saddened to read this . My sincerest respect and condolences to her, her bereaved family, friends, followers and coworkers.💔
I am like crying just watching this but I know that she is happy. I hope she’s living her best life up there ❤️
Thank you. How did you fasten the white ring after finishing it? When I removed the hook, it started to unravel
I usually slipstitch with the remaining white yarn
I didn't have enough of my yellow yarn to do the center of the flower, so instead I changed up the colors a bit - white, soft purple (basically a lilac) for the flower and then a medium grey, with an additional white around. It still looks very nice, although maybe next time I'll try using a shade of green around the flower instead of the grey, to make it look like leaves or something. Either way, I love this design so thank you for sharing it with us! I'll be making a bunch of these to turn into a project of some sort. Currently not sure what, but perhaps a bag or a baby blanket for my niece.
Love this video
wow.. it's good job 🥰🥰
Aww god bless you
This is me just finding you xx
Rest in peace Melanie you will be so missed x
How many squares am I supposed to make for a large blanket?
Edit: been making the blanket, based on my calculations I’m going to need 120 squares for a large blanket, including the extra row around the edges. I will eventually put the blanket together an give an update if I’m wrong
Btw, I decided that I am making a blanked from those, just so that her pattern will always be next to me. Thank you Melanie!
The best teacher ever!!
Miss you.
May she rest in peace💕🙏🙏💕
