Leather Round Knife Sheath

I've been giving Leatherwork a try just lately and this is project number 2. It's a sheath for my round knife also known (I think) as a head knife. Hand tooling the leather is a load of fun!!!

It looks it. I've seen some really nice leather projects lately. Certainly something I have on my to try list.
And cheaper than wood-turning too.

It is and compared to woodwork the tools are very (comparatively) inexpensive!!

Any reason you didn’t tool it before assembly? Lovely piece either way.

If I remember right, this was the first "real" piece I made. I, most likely, did the initial glue up and then said something along the lines of " !#$%%^!$%!#!$$%!%$!@%$!$@#% order of operations &@%#@%$#^@ #!@#*&((^% " Its all a learning process in the end.

@@MakeBrooklyn Gotcha! Yeah, I'm just now starting myself and I've been stitching before antiquing and burnishing before dying and every other out-of-sequence thing you could imagine. You should be quiet proud of this, then --I dont think even tenured leather workers would confidentially expect such a pleasing result when carving and (especially) tooling a piece of leather with air and some more leather between it and a firm backing. All the best!
