Thank you for putting in the effort to write the words with the correct turkish letters and trying to pronounce them right! Not many people are respectful of the language when they visit so I really appreciate this
Fantastic review, and great to see some routes less travelled. Lots of lenses into Japanese and Schengen area Europe high speed rail, but exciting to see Turkey's HSR. Can't wait for more adventures!
Rory, what a comprehensive, innovative and interesting overview of this train system. Well done for originality too. Istanbul is on my travel bucket list…now I want to go even more!
Great trip report Rory! I will be doing the Overland in April this year! I will also be flying Qantas Perth-Adelaide in business. And happy Australia Day!
Love to see your rail video outside of Australia. As usual, your video is full of detailed info. Enjoyed the rail journey as you did. Very much looking forward to seeing your forthcoming videos on Turkish rail.
5:04 I rode on the Velaro back in July 2017 operating the International Eurostar train that operates between England, France, Belgium, and the Netherlands! Eurostar brands their fleet of Velaro as E320s, and are named British Rail Class 374s since they operate into England, and every type of class of train there is named 'class' and then a number next to it. A major difference between the Velaros in Turkey and the ones on the Eurostar is that they are double the length with a 16 car consist. Eurostar also has a fleet of E300s or Class 373s from the mid 1990s, which include two power ends, and an 18 carriage consist in between. Perhaps you could do a Eurostar review one day?
Hi Rory so good to see your videos again. Turkey looks really nice and train very well kept. Shame you couldn't get the hot meal on the train hope your enjoying there.
Hi Rory 👋, I absolutely enjoyed this presentation, and the more I see, the more disappointed I am with our Australian railways. I was interested to see in the early clips that some travel quite ruff, and I am sure they have a tail to tell 😀 😉. I found this video very entertaining and informative. Thanks, Rory, I look forward to more of your worldly travels 😀
Rory, I absolutely loved this video! Great to see a Turkish train as you mainly hear about the Japanese and European trains so this was really refreshing to watch. Great video Rory.
Great review Rory and loved watcing a new video of yours. The old station in Instanbul on the European side brought back a happy memory of drinking apple tea seated on the platform late in the evening as the Orient Express was preparing to leave. Keep up the great work and happy travels for 2023.
Excellent Rory, thank you. I’m hoping to get to Turkey later this year and really appreciate all this information.😊 Any more train reviews from Europe coming up?
Thanks Rory, great video and nice to see a review of a HST service that is a bit off the list of the "normal" travel places. Looking forward to your regional rail experiences. Hopefully the dining cars improve!
I will use this train tomorrow and this was the best video I've watched till now, thank you very much. Also, I am a Turkish person but some of the things you mention about the city and stations was new to me, i actually got surprised :D (It is also sad that among all the youtubers in Turkey, there wasn't anyone I come across that provided a decent presentation of YHT trains)
congratulations on the Turkish pronunciations. Hyderparsa station was built by the Germans who built the railway and was a magnificent example of a Germanic main terminal building with beautifully decorated ticket hall, restaurants and other facilities for travellers. After it closed there was a fire that damaged it's roof badly, but that appears to have been repaired.
Thank you Rory I love your videos because you always take the time to find so much information about the trains etc. Great to see turkey up there with their high speed rail. Enjoyed every minute 😊
show what you can do,no high speed rail in australia what a shame, there are people that dont like flying so would be nice going to watch tassie ferry next see you
Rory, I thought that the meal service changed dramatically after the pandemic. Before 2020, the hot meal is offered freely in the business class. However since the pandemic it changed. Even until the end of 2021 they only give free mineral water.
Heya Rory just a quick question...I see lots of dogs at that terminal. Are they drug dogs or just strays? They're all having a good nap lol was this before or after the devastating earthquake?
Spent a month in Turkiye for the first time recently but only experience with rail was in Istanbul. Moved from town to town via coach fron Istanbul to Cannakale, along the Aegean & Mediterranean coasts, eventually to the far eastern Agri Dagi (Mt Aarat). Very good coaches, with individual media screens with internet and USB plugs. Plenty of room too, even if seated to next big Turkish bloke. Pleasantly suprised by Turkiye, & definitely worth visiting.
Stray dogs. They go in to keep warm during rain and cold weather and people usually feed them. You'll see lots of cats and dogs especially in Istanbul and plenty of cat/dog food and water containers all around. But I do agree that the number of dogs in the station seemed to be unusually high.
When you watch these videos seeing how much HSR is expanding all over the world Australia is still lagging behind and still propping up Qantas and building more airports. Just goes to show how poorly Australia has been governed over the last 20 to 30 years
Hi Rory. It's great to see you out and about , travelling in overseas destinations ! I agree , a pity , no hot meals , or even a sandwich from the cafe. Maybe they have found there isn't a market for it ? Or else they figure that customers are happy with what they do offer, forgetting that tourists might expect a bit more. Great to see clean, modern comfortable facilities on board too ! I noticed a ramp, that's excellent for people with luggage, prams, wheelchairs, or just find it hard to get in and off trains !...it's amazing how many vlogs I see if trains where there is no easy way to get on and off. Looking forward to your next adventure...sounds like it will be soon !
Do you think turkey a clean country or not compare to other country like european, i mean not much trash on the street or sanitation...? Sorry my english is bad😊
That limitation is only for the initial strip before the train leaves Istanbul. As the area is highly congested, they could not build dedicated high speed tracks and the train has to use the commuter rail tracks in that portion of the trip. Maybe they'll consider building underground tracks for this train later on for this section.
Yay! Love your work Rory
Thank you for putting in the effort to write the words with the correct turkish letters and trying to pronounce them right! Not many people are respectful of the language when they visit so I really appreciate this
YAY HE’S BACK!! Missed these so much
Great video Rory, need to put this on my list. The Turkish people are wonderful I'd feel very safe on a trip like this.

Good to see you back Rory. As usual an interesting and informative video. I'm looking forward to your future videos of travel around Europe and Asia.
Enjoyed the vid. Ready for the next one. Thanks for taking me with you on your journeys.
Good to get another video from Rory. I was starting to suffer withdrawal. As usual a great watch. Thanks Rory.
I had experienced this machines at 250 it is going perfectly insulation good environmental sounds don t moving the inside of the train ı liked it

Ruff, tail ... I noticed all the dogs lounging around the train station, too. Odd.

Thanks Rory. Another interesting and educational documentary. Roger... Pembrokeshire UK
Rory should have made a review of the plane back to Sydney Australia from Istanbul?
So glad you're back Rory! I've missed your videos recently. This is, as always, an excellent review. Very entertaining and informative. Great :)
On your next video, you should do travelling on every Sydney ferry in one day
Great to see a video up once again. Hope you had a great time in Turkey and got to eat plenty of gözlemes!
Wow! I was so surprised to see you’re in turkey! Another amazing video
Nice to see you Rory. 😃
Excellent Rory, thank you. I’m hoping to get to Turkey later this year and really appreciate all this information.😊

That was so enjoyable, why were all the dogs lying in the station at the start Rory.
Fantastic video Rory, its great to see you travelling internationally again. Keep up the great travel videos!!
Love your profile photo!

It must be reopened with all tracks occupied with Siemens Velaro TR , so that Türkiye can show Germany how to be german!
Very informative, thank you!
Wonderful Rory.
Thank you Rory I love your videos because you always take the time to find so much information about the trains etc. Great to see turkey up there with their high speed rail. Enjoyed every minute 😊
Very interesting, thanks Rory
I LOVE your videos Rory!!!! I hope you ate some fresh pomegranates when you were in turkey!!

Thank you 😊
Always happy to view your work Rory.
You have great oratory skills bra.
This is so cool, j learned a lot!
Teşekkürler videonuzu beğenerek izledim...
Thanks for the trip. Glad that less travelled services are reported. Perhaps the dinning car only has hot meals for dinner.
Brilliant review, so relaxing! No luck on a meat pie no sauce 😉
Yeah isn’t that a shame 😂
Doing gods work - you are amazing and ty for your content.
Thank you 😊
I hope you are OK, Rory and didn’t get caught up in the earthquake? Travel safely 🙏
I left Turkey in November so I’m okay thank you for asking 😊

Yay. Rory is back …. What is with all those dogs in the station?
Thanks for the informative video.
Can u advise how to get from Istanbul Airport (IST) to the Sogutlucesme station?
Wow, only $30 AUD for the trip, that's so cheap!
Hey Rory great video so far, only just beginning but wondering if the dogs around the ticket office are strays ?
There's lot of stray dogs in Turkey, but they're treated quite well & loved by a lot of the locals.
@@onesimpleclik yeah, they looked loved I thought they might of been sniffer dogs for a second aha

Great review Rory, and happy Australia Day. By the way, will you give a Laos-China railway a try once cross-border passenger services begin?
Love you video mate can I come next time
3:26 why are there sleeping dogs in the train stations? Very interesting
Stray dogs. They go in to keep warm during rain and cold weather and people usually feed them. You'll see lots of cats and dogs especially in Istanbul and plenty of cat/dog food and water containers all around. But I do agree that the number of dogs in the station seemed to be unusually high.
Did this replace the oriental express?
Wow
What's with all the dogs? I hope hey have valid tickets..
With you I go to anywhere hahaha
How much is the cost?
This train travels at a maximum speed of 250 km and exceeds 160.
german engineering at its best istanbul lovely tourist city ancient turks generations living in germany with names like "otto"

I agree about the ramps, all long distance trains in Turkey seem to be accessible
Kicks XPT's butt... except for the food
do cruises dude
Guide dogs who lost their owners?
Nice video Rory. Enjoyed it. Thank you. I wish Australia would stop making excuses on high speed trains.
There are lots of stray dogs in Istanbul they’re everywhere!

The streets in Istanbul aren’t very clean but bearable 😀

Look at all the dogs at the railway station!!!! Hope they are ok. Great video otherwise
If train speed restricted to 120 km per hour then what is the logic to name this High speed train.
That limitation is only for the initial strip before the train leaves Istanbul. Maybe they'll consider building underground tracks for this train later on for this section.
Talk about not maximising profits by selling meals on board. Seems a bit lazy. Pity.
They did sell meals until 2016, they then gave the dining car contract to a private catering company. What a pity!

Interesting choice. Istanbul is a fabulous place if you love history.
