You say if we’re a photographer mainly then we should go with the G9ii. However, there is mainly one reason that I am buying the GH7 and not the G9ii (or the S5II/X) and that is the rear screen mechanism, I hate the side hinged pull out screen, it’s too slow and conspicuous, for photo and filmmaking the tilt we have here on the GH7 is so much better. Excellent review, thanks.
I just bought gh7 and the image quality is stunning even tough my gh5 image still looks great as well. Gh7 files have lots of wiggle room in edit and run well in davinci resolve. I am quite happy with my purchase so far
I've just got the GH6 for a bargain price off ebay and I absolutely love it. It's worth waiting for the hype to die down and buy one model behind. The GH7 will be on my list (in two years time)!
Everyone is saying it's the same sensor as the G9II but if you look at the Lumix website, it says the GH7 has a BSI CMOS sensor and the G9II has a Live MOS sensor. Looking up the difference, it appears as though the GH7 should have the same noise at ISO 3200 that the G9II has at 1600. Just going by the Panasonic website description of the sensors... Love your beginning on this review. Great job!
to me, it is a pretty much the same camera when it comes to photography but GH7 uses CFExpress faster cards and it had that very useful tilt and pull out screen
Just six seconds into the video and I can see the GH7S heats up like Satan's oven, look at that, chips are frying, thanks for warning. Which other camera is a fiasco? Keep up the good work!
This video is hilarious.....I've been using GH cameras forever.........the GH series have always offered the most bang for the buck.....but people new to the GH series doesn't know it's history. There are still many issues with the GH line....hence why people buy Full frame cameras.....I have a Sony Full Frame simply for photography 61 megapixels......and i use my Panasonic GH5 for video........I'll wait for the GH7 price to bottom out before I upgrade.
I love you but I strongly disagree about raw. 12bit raw is far superior to a normal 10 bit codec when it comes to handling skin tones. even in the lumix cameras, when I record in raw vs 10bit, I get a way better render of skin tones in raw than I would in 10bit. even for internet delivery.
That's really interesting, because I'm already impressed with skin tones in 10bit 422 on the Panasonic S5. What are your export codec/settings for internet delivery, and delivery in general? The better skin tones from raw still hold up after export, I assume.
I believe you but doesn't it all depend on the color grade and the screen you are viewing it on? I can't see much difference and what difference I can see, I think it can be corrected, tweaked in post anyway. On paper it really makes sense. 12bit RAW will have ton more data information in the recording but ..... the files are very big. I'd fill 3-4 1Tb SSD drives making just one youtube video. Personally, I can't see me ever shooting in RAW, unless a paying client will demand it 🙁
@@PavSZ good point. I think one thing I’m struggling with is with shooting raw on almost every project, I now can see the difference and it bugs me hahaha. I wish it didn’t, I like hard drive space hahaha
It’s funny because the only thing “Micro” about this camera is the sensor. Did you know it is both larger and heavier than the Sony A1, Sony A9III, Canon R5, Canon R5 Mk2 and Nikon Z6III? All of which are full frame cameras. It’s even larger and heavier than Panasonics own S5II/x… Micro Giant… lol it really is a giant micro four thirds camera.
you know.... Im really tired of gear TH-camrs who repeat the same specs info as a talking head along with some short clips of some flower or some item. It's as if none of you guys actually produce any professional video. Where are the epic shots of humans, skin tones, human motion? People want to see highlight rolloff, skin tones under different lighting etc. No I will not subscribe to this content. We already knew the specs a month ago. yea yea yea it's a professional camera for the professional yet your sample shot has the window clipped like it was shot on an old phone. Come on guys, take your time.. be more creative with these cameras. Put in some real effort to show the image quality. "specs specs specs Bla bla bla buy my LUTS" "hopefully Lumix sponsors me for overhyping their gear before I even try it so I an go to Japan and get free lenses"
@@LucasCreativeTech bro take a second and reconsider how you talk to people on the internet. Pav is a working professional filmmaker and photographer. He always provides the best sample shots. I believe he only had the gh7 for a very short period of time, and that’s on Lumix, not him. If you didn’t like the content, cool… watch a different video, there are like 30 different gh7 videos. Hell I have like 4 gh7 videos, with skin tones, with different scenarios. There is content out there, so click off the video and watch another. But don’t be a keyboard warrior. Be better than that. Waited for weeks for your review of this beast. Fortunately you review it with my favorite lens 25-50mm f1.7, can’t wait to get the combo
Thank you so much!
This combo is insanely good
I just sold that lens for $1,100 because I got rid of m43 gear but it did produce really nice portraits.
It's quite a utilitarian beast. All function all the time. I WISH my FX3 had this sort of robust menu of options and workflow aides.
Sony is waaaay behind spec wise in comparison to this .... and they are more expensive
@@PavSZ Some specs, perhaps. I'll keep that in mind the next time I'm pulling clean log footage at above 12800 though. Horses for courses.
GH-7 has got auto focus , plus raw, also LUTs Arri format codec, except this one camera only.
Is the FX3 full frame better than Gh7?
@@PavSZhow though ? FX3 is full frame

Did you know the an Irish cinema production company filmed using Micro 4/3 lenses "The Shamrock Spitfire"( 2023-24).
no, I didn't know but I know BBC have been using GH4 and GH5 for long time for filming from inside of cars
This going to be next Netflix Cinema camera for 2025 say Aye,!😉👍🏻
Thank you for sharing this info about the GH7, My question, How to does it compare in still with G9m2? thanks
... that's a valid question. I'm curious if there's an additional advantage for the GH7 in stills due to having a CFexpress type B card slot.
