One is American English and the other is British English -- Same word and meaning though. There are quite a few difference between both types of English. Take the word color for example. In American English we spell it without a u - whereas - in British English it is spelled colour. Again - same word and meaning - just different spelling. One way to look at certain words between the two is that we use "or" and they use "our". As far as with "yze" in American English - in British English they mainly use "yse".
