I just took ownership of one of the RGuns imported type-54s that Classic Firearms had and I'm was quite happy with the condition but I noticed the action felt a bit gritty. I thought maybe just a bit of rust somewhere. However, upon field stripping the slide, I found about 15 sesame seeds inside the front pocket of the frame and in the barrel locking lugs. Wild! I'm not even mad. Nothing is wrong with the gun at all and I am absolutely baffled at how this happened. lol
Was pleasantly surprised when I opened mine, numbers matching except for the barrel but was brand new with probably zero rounds in it. Feels smooth and high quality.
Just picked one up from gun broker. R guns was the original importer. 1956 date. In similar shape as yours but i didnt have any dings or gouges. Same safety and appears to be in good condition. 230+40 shipping. I really like the look and feel of it.
There's probably an over abundance supply of them. But buy while you can, I remember there was a huge supply of Mosins back in 2011 and now there isn't.
i like my type 54 built in 1956 7.62x25 bullets. mine is a x grade with the glock style safety but still looks darn good to me and is all numbers matching!
SO GLAD they used the trigger dingus instead of drilling these. I got a NOS Russian trigger for mine so it looks all original except the stupid import mark. I wish I knew how they got around the Chinese import ban....maybe these were in Albania w/ the SKS's These are still in stock for tree fiddy. If you're even considering it, DO IT! That price will jump for sure, these were not available for a few decades in large numbers due to import bans and the lack of permanent frame modification will help them go up in collector value.
I got a romanian TTC, but it has a brand new Type 54 barrel. The original romanian barrel was in bad shape but I found a new barrel. The groupings drastically improved, and it's a solid shooter. I was worried about fitment but it it fit like a glove.
Another Tokarev to consider is the Yugo M57. 9 rounds plus 1 in camber (10 rounds of 7.62x25mm) & size of full size 1911. Finding one with no import markings is difficult & expensive.
Great video! My shop got about 8 of them in. The refinishing can be veeeeery different gun-to-gun. Some, but not all, had new barrels. I appreciate the import marks being on the bottom of the slide so they're not obtrusive. For the purposes of restoring it to as original of condition as possible, I understand why the trigger safety was added rather than a manual, but I found 3 of the 8 examples I handled to be practically unusable as-shipped. How is the zero on yours? That rear sight seemed a little tall but I haven't put any rounds through one, so it might not be an issue
It does seem to shoot high. I think the zero on most Tokarevs is at about 50-60 meters though. I was in pretty close so not too surprised it shot high.
@@ReadinessReviews I think. They've been dirt cheap here for so long, but I haven't looked in a bit. Once the supply dries up, the prices skyrocket on all these milsurps
I have a 54 that was converted to a 9mm, the whole upper section was replaced with the original lower section, the two mags have inserts put in for the shorter 9mm round and the guns now called the 213. the thing is I got another that is a 213 with a different kind of conversion of a insert in the mag well for a shorter mag and this gun is from the nineties with a 2000 round max use in the instructions. both guns don't really look alike though they have the same cheap safety put on the side of the main frame. There is no information that I can find on the history on why there is a difference and the action taken for two guns that is slightly different in design and conversion but both called 213?
That looks pretty sweet, I’ve been considering getting one for awhile but, wasn’t sure if it was worth it. Seeing the condition of yours I might have to get one now.. it looks brand new.
I have 4 of these and yours is very weird. The fact it doesn’t have a factory code, or a chrome bore is suspect to me. All of mine have immaculate chrome bores, and factory codes. Only one has a date code.
Personal opinion, 7.62x25 for both. It's a far faster bullet, better penetrator, and can dump it's energy inside. I prefer Lehigh defence extreme penetrator style bullets for this task. .45acp is typically subsonic, not great for penetrating, but decent for soft tissue damage when employing hollowpoint ammunition, and no armor involved.
I bought a Yugo one last year. Blasted trigger sear wouldn't work, so I sold it. Are their any reports of these refusing to function? Just don't want to get bitten twice.
I suppose with any surplus there is a chance you'll get a lemon from what I've seen and heard these from RGuns are pretty solid as far as function goes.
Man, you Americans get hosed on these Chinese guns. We can buy the exact same unissued surplus Type 54 up here for about $200 CDN ($160 US). We also get them unaltered, without the stupid slide/trigger 'safeties.'
@@ReadinessReviews Well, they butcher the SKS magazine here to comply with the 5 round centerfire semiautomatic rifle regulation, so I guess we're even.
Sir plz tell me 3 points. 1st Chinese tt pistol barrel how can rounds fired. 2nd after how many years the Chinese tt cartridges were expired. 3rd i keeping magazine full load all the year of Chinese tt pistol it's magazine spring will be damaged or not
1: 10,000 rounds, ish, that's a generic answer. 2: if stored properly, 100+ years 3: Different people will tell you different things, I personally don't like leaving my mags loaded and sitting in the safe, because it will (eventually) weaken the mag spring. (That rule applies for pretty well all firearms) Take care of your TT33, Type54, M57 and you will have a powerful and reliable sidearm for well beyond your years.
Thanks for the review since I did not know that chinese pistols were still available in the USA. The price seems steep at $350.00 a gun. But that may be the current covid biden era pricing.
What a scam. I just checked Rguns out and they say the shipping is flat rate. But, when you add 2 Tokarevs to the cart, Rguns tacks on twice the "flat rate" shipping fee. This channel is a shill for Rguns.
Should have dropped the magazine before hand and racked it more than once. I know you probably did off camera. But that’s a bad habit too show new shooters

as of May 2024, RGUNS still have them...I bought two and liked them. Don't understand why they don't sell like hot cakes as they should
There's probably an over abundance supply of them. But buy while you can, I remember there was a huge supply of Mosins back in 2011 and now there isn't.
I have a Romanian TT and love it. Only downside is ammo. Even before the current ammo crisis 7.62x25 was real tough to get. Same with brass to reload.
Like 10 year ago the ammo was as cheap as .22...... I sure wish it was still like that lol
Tok brass is made by Starline and easy to get

Sounds like those Aimsurplus xgrades were really nice especially for the price. Kind of wish I would have ordered from them instead of RGuns.

Even some new looking Romanian barrels suck, my dad's looks great but slugs way oversized and is a horrible shooter.
I have a Chinese Norinco 213 9mm and a Polish Tok, both are fun shooters. Well done.
I'm hunting a Polish Tok now.. love those guns
Thanks for this! I’ve been looking for a Tokarev variant and now I know where to look!!!

Glad you enjoyed it!

The type 54 actually was available in 3 calibers 7.62x25/9mm/38 super
What did the bore look like after you ran a few rounds through it? It looked a bit rough before you shot it.
It's still ugly. Dark and pitted. It shot well enough I suppose though

Yeah we got Old Lyndon Johnson and his Stupid GCA (GUN CONTROL ACT) of 1968 for that 😡👎

No they added a trigger safety like a Glock.
