- Chānakya (350--283 BCE) was an adviser to the first Maurya Emperor Chandragupta. He was a teacher in Taxila University, an ancient centre of learning, and was responsible for the creation of Mauryan empire, the first & largest-till-date of its kind on the Indian subcontinent. He has been considered as the pioneer of the field of economics and political science.
Two books are attributed to Chanakya: Arthashastra and Neetishastra which is also known as Chanakya Niti. The Arthashastra discusses monetary and fiscal policies, welfare, international relations, and war strategies in detail. Neetishastra is a treatise on the ideal way of life, and shows Chanakya's in-depth study of the Indian way of life. Chanakya also developed Neeti-Sutras (aphorisms - pithy sentences) that tell people how they should behave. Of these well-known 455 sutras, about 216 refer to raaja-neeti (the do's and don'ts of running a kingdom).

I liked this man, Siharan so much that I felt like crying when he dies in the serial. Very great acting.

What a great description of chanakya! Chanakya serial is really a Kohinoor in Indian telivision history! The most emotional and imperishible character sketch of chanakya, chandragupta maurya and others too....I never heard such a powerful diologues....salute to sincere efforts taken by dr.dwivedi to research and portrayed picture of Indian during the times of beginning of Nanda empire,the invasion of Alexander the great,the Indian struggle of Independence against Greeks and rise of mauryan empire... We does'nt watch serial, we lived in ancient India... Episodes of invasion of Alexander bring tears in your eyes however unemotional person you may be! That itself is strength of writting style of dwivedi and sad events happened in the past...the thoughts of chanakya and chandragupta on national unity is very very inspiring and impressive...hatts of to the efforts of complete casting and crew team of 'Chankya'

there is a great role of time and environment in a person success. When Alexander attacked India already a mighty kingdom like Magadh existed in India. And Greeks came to India for the purpose of attack. If same Chanakya would have born at the time of British India he would not have been able to uproot Britishers from Indian soil because at that time there were no Mauryans, no marathas and no mughals. And India was surrounded by number of problems like Sati, untouchability, inter caste conflicts and Hindu Muslim conflicts. So he would not have gain so much popularity if he would have born today also. Because today Indians are following British and American culture. And they have developed a very strange mindset now. If any foreigner comments anything positive to be followed about Indian culture they think it is right. But if the same rules is instructed by Brahmin as on today's date all the citizens will surround him and abuse him in Indian society as well as in the social media. Imagine where Chanakya would have been if he were born today.
